In autonomous driving, road markings are an essential element for object tracking, path planning and they are able to provide important information for localization. This paper presents an approach to update and measure road surface markers with HD maps as well as matching using inverse perspective mapping. The IPM removes perspective effects from the vehicle's front camera image and remaps them to the 2D domain to create a bird-view region to fit with HD map regions. In addition, letters and arrows such as stop lines, crosswalks, dotted lines, and straight lines are recognized and compared to objects on the HD map to determine whether they are updated. The localization of a newly installed object can be obtained by referring to the measurement value of the surrounding object on the HD map. Therefore, we are able to obtain high accuracy update results with very low computational costs and low-cost cameras and GNSS/INS sensors alone.
HACCP is scientific Sanitary control system to ensure food safety with autonomous, systematic and effective way by analysing hazard element that can be occurred in each steps until an end consumer takes food including raw material status, manufacturing, processing, storing, distributing, cooking and specifying the critical control point. In this paper, the temperature and humidity are measured during the transport of food, the stage of its distribution, to ensure systematic and effective management of HACCP, and we designed a monitoring terminal that uses this information to send it to servers periodically and a firmware that implements it. We have confirmed that the data transmitted by the terminal, including the information measured in sub-net, was well stored on the server and the response from the server is well received by the terminal. It is expected to be used for the management of food history, data tracking and statistical data in the future. This system is also considered to be an applicable system for group cafeteria such as schools or workplaces and logistics warehouses for raw materials or food storage and so on.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a machine learning-based marine drone to prevent the farming from harmful birds such as ducks. Existing drones have been developed as marine drones to solve the problem of being lost if they collide with birds in the air or are in the sea. We designed a CNN-based learning algorithm to judge harmful birds that appear on the sea by maritime drones operating by autonomous driving. It is designed to transmit video to the control PC by connecting the Raspberry Pi to the camera for location recognition and tracking of harmful birds. After creating a map linked with the location GPS coordinates in advance at the mobile-based control center, the GPS location value for the location of the harmful bird is received and provided, so that a marine drone is dispatched to combat the harmful bird. A bird fighting drone system was designed and implemented.
Today, with the improvement of deep learning technology, computer vision areas such as image classification, object detection, object segmentation, and object tracking have shown remarkable improvements. Various applications such as intelligent surveillance, robots, Internet of Things, and autonomous vehicles in combination with deep learning technology are being applied to actual industries. Accordingly, the requirement of an efficient compression method for video data is necessary for machine consumption as well as for human consumption. In this paper, we propose an object-based compression of thermal infrared images for machine vision. The input image is divided into object and background parts based on the object detection results to achieve efficient image compression and high neural network performance. The separated images are encoded in different compression ratios. The experimental result shows that the proposed method has superior compression efficiency with a maximum BD-rate value of -19.83% to the whole image compression done with VVC.

Weeding in orchards is closely associated with productivity and quality. The customary weeding process is both labor-intensive and time-consuming. To solve the problems, there is need for automation of agricultural robots and machines in the agricultural field. On the other hand, orchards have complicated working areas due to narrow spaces between trees and amorphous terrain. Therefore, it is necessary to develop customized robot technology for unmanned weeding work within the department. This study developed a path generation and path control method for unmanned weeding according to the orchard environment. For this, the width of the weeding span, the number of operations, and the width of the weeding robot were used as input parameters for the orchard environment parameters. To generate a weeding path, a weeding robot was operated remotely to obtain GNSS-based location data along the superheated center line, and a driving performance test was performed based on the generated path. From the results of orchard field tests, the RMSE in weeding period sections was measured at 0.029 m, with a maximum error of 0.15 m. In the steering period within row and steering to the next row sections, the RMSE was 0.124 m, and 0.047 m, respectively.

An amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine with cylindrical rotating brush, housing, and turbidity barrier was newly-developed to remove both sediments with about 10 cm thickness and periphyton attached on various structures in urban water-circulating systems through the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes. Based on the field application and long-term monitoring, the increase in both suspended solids (SS) and turbidity of water during the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes was negligible (p>0.05). In some cases, the turbidity of water initially increased, however, the turbidity was stabilized within 20 minutes from the start of dredging processes. The concentration changes in TN and TP of water were not statistically different (p>0.05) before and after the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes, indicating that benthic nutrients released from sediments were not significantly diffused, and were not supposed to cause significant water pollution. Also, water treatment facilities along with an amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine could be more effective since the removal of contaminant loadings through the scrubbing, suction, and dredging processes was much greater than that through simple coagulation/precipitation processes. Finally, GPS-based realtime tracking and operation program have been developed and applied in various urban water-circulating systems, and development of driver cooperative autonomous driving system is in progress to eliminate the need for manual driving of an amphibious scrubbing/suction dredging machine.

This paper introduces a hovering-type autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed for research and its fundamental motion performance results obtained by simulation and field test. The AUV can control its motion in four degrees of freedom (DOF) by means of its horizontal and vertical thrusters, and it is designed to provide a test-bed that facilitates ease of operation and experimentation. Prior to the field tests, six DOF equations of motion are developed, and a simulation program is constructed using MATLAB and Simulink to verify the essential motion performance of the designed vehicle. Furthermore, a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and fuzzy PID controller are designed, and their performances are verified through a simulation. Field tests are performed to verify the motion performance of the AUV; way-point tracking is executed by the PID and fuzzy PID controllers. The results confirmed appropriate control performance under current disturbances.
We discuss a modified numerical model based on the Monte Carlo radiative transfer (MCRT) method, i.e., the MCRT matrix method, for the analysis of atmospheric scattering effects in three-dimensional flash LIDAR systems. Based on the MCRT method, the radiative transfer function for a LIDAR signal is constructed in a form of a matrix, which corresponds to the characteristic response. Exploiting the superposition and convolution of the characteristic response matrices under the paraxial approximation, an extended computer simulation model of an overall flash LIDAR system is developed. The MCRT matrix method substantially reduces the number of tracking signals, which may grow excessively in the case of conventional Monte Carlo methods. Consequently, it can readily yield fast acquisition of the signal response under various scattering conditions and LIDAR-system configurations. Using the computational model based on the MCRT matrix method, we carry out numerical simulations of a three-dimensional flash LIDAR system operating under different atmospheric conditions, varying the scattering coefficient in terms of visible distance. We numerically analyze various phenomena caused by scattering effects in this system, such as degradation of the signal-to-noise ratio, glitches, and spatiotemporal spread and time delay of the LIDAR signals. The MCRT matrix method is expected to be very effective in analyzing a variety of LIDAR systems, including flash LIDAR systems for autonomous driving.

The Multi-Mission Unmanned Surface Vehicle(MMUSV), which is manufactured using glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP) material, is designed to perform a surveillance and reconnaissance on the sea. Various navigation sensors, such as RADAR, RIDAR, camera, are mounted on a mast to perform an autonomous navigation. And a dummy gun is mounted on the deck of the MMUSV for a target tracking and disposal. It is necessary to analyze a strength for structures mounted on the deck because the MMUSV performs missions under a severe sea state. In this paper, a strength analysis of the mast structure is performed on static loads and lateral external loads to verify an adequacy of the designed mast through a series of simulations. Based on the results of captive model tests, a strength analysis for a heave motion of the mast structure is conducted using a simulation tool. Also a simulation and fatigue test for a mounting part between the MMUSV and the dummy gun are performed using a specimen. The simulation and test results are represented that a structure of the mast and mounting part of the dummy gun are appropriately designed.he impact amount are performed through simulation and experiments.

An autonomous and automatic home mess-cleanup robot is newly developed in this paper. Thus far, vacuum-cleaners have lightened the burden of household chores but the operational labor that vacuum-cleaners entail has been very severe. Recently, a cleaning robot was commercialized to solve but it also was not successful because it still had the problem of mess-cleanup, which pertained to the clean-up of large trash and the arrangement of newspapers, clothes, etc. Hence, we develop a new home mess-cleanup robot (McBot) to completely overcome this problem. The robot needs the capability for agile navigation and a novel manipulation system for mess-cleanup. The autonomous navigational system has to be controlled for the full scanning of the living room and for the precise tracking of the desired path. It must be also be able to recognize the absolute position and orientation of itself and to distinguish the messed object that is to be cleaned up from obstacles that should merely be avoided. The manipulator, which is not needed in a vacuum-cleaning robot, has the functions of distinguishing the large trash that is to be cleaned from the messed objects that are to be arranged. It needs to use its discretion with regard to the form of the messed objects and to properly carry these objects to the destination. In particular, in this paper, we describe our approach for achieving accurate localization using RFID for home mess-cleanup robots. Finally, the effectiveness of the developed McBot is confirmed through live tests of the mess-cleanup task.
