  • Thanks to technical improvement on the vehicle to vehicle communication and the intelligent transportation system, gradual introduction of the autonomous vehicles is expected soon in the market. The study analyzes the autonomous vehicles' impacts on the network efficiencies. In order to measure the network efficiencies, the study applies the sequential procedures that combines the microscopic and macroscopic simulations. The microscopic simulation attends to the capacity changes due to the autonomous vehicles' proportions on the roadway while the macroscopic simulation utilizes the simulation results in order to identify the network-wide improvement. As expected, the autonomous vehicles efficiently utilizes the existing capacity of the roadway than the human driving does. Particularly, the maximum capacity improvements are expected by the 190.5% on the expressway. The significant capacity change is observed when the autonomous vehicles' proportions are about 80% or more. These improvements are translated into the macroscopic model, which also yields overall network efficiency improvement by the autonomous vehicles' penetration. However, the study identifies that the market debut of the autonomous vehicles does not promise the free flow condition, which implies the possible needs of the system optimal routing scheme for the era of the autonomous vehicles.

  • Now a days, there are various application functions to transmit from vehicles to the Internet and vice versa. And the communication can be operated through a roadside infrastructure including with possible use of routing protocols. Specifically, autonomous vehicles for remote driving and monitoring requires transmitting of high depth of multimedia such as video. Especially in a populated urban area, an efficient network is vital because of handling a great amount of the data. Therefore, in this paper, efficient network topology for a crossroad in urban area is suggested by performance evaluation of vehicular networks using a wireless LAN and a routing protocol. For the performance evaluation, various vehicular network topologies are designed and simulated in OPNet simulator.

  • Safety and security are the topmost priority in every environment. With the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI), many objects are becoming more intelligent, conscious, and curious of their surroundings. The recent scientific breakthroughs in autonomous vehicular designs and development; powered by AI, network of sensors and the rapid increase of Internet of Things (IoTs) could be utilized in maintaining safety and security in our environments. AI based on deep learning architectures and models, such as Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), is being applied worldwide in the automotive design fields like computer vision, natural language processing, sensor fusion, object recognition and autonomous driving projects. These features are well known for their identification, detective and tracking abilities. With the embedment of sensors, cameras, GPS, RADAR, LIDAR, and on-board computers in many of these autonomous vehicles being developed, these vehicles can properly map their positions and proximity to everything around them. In this paper, we explored in detail several ways in which these enormous features embedded in these autonomous vehicles, such as the network of sensors fusion, computer vision and natural image processing, natural language processing, and activity aware capabilities of these automobiles, could be tapped and utilized in safeguarding our lives and environment.

  • In this paper, we optimize distributed autonomous robotic system based on artificial immune system. Immune system has B-cell and T-cell that are two major types of lymphocytes. B-cells take part in humoral responses that secrete antibodies and T-cells take part in cellular responses that stimulate or suppress cells connected to the immune system. They have communicating network equation, which have many parameters. The distributed autonomous robotics system based on this artificial immune system is modeled on the B-cells and T-cells system. So performance of system is influenced by parameters of immune network equation. We can improve performance of Distributed autonomous robotics system based on artificial immune system.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a method that is able to realize autonomous traveling for tractor-like robot on the slope terrain. A neural network (NN) and genetic algorithms (GAs) have been used for resolving nonlinear problems in this system. The NN is applied to create a vehicle simulator that is capable to describe the motion of the tractor robot on the slope, while it is impossible by the common dynamics way. Using this vehicle simulator, a control law optimized by GAs was established and installed in the computer to control the steering wheel of tractor robot. The autonomous traveling carried out on a 14-degree slope had initial successful results.

  • This paper describes a recognition method of a road direction for an autonomous vehicle based on magnetic sensors. Using the sensors mounted on a vehicle and the magnetic markers embedded along the center of road, the autonomous vehicle can recognize a road direction and control a steering angle. Using the front lateral deviation of a vehicle and the rear one, the road direction is calculated. The analysis of magnetic field, the acquisition technique of training data, the training method of neural network and the computer simulation are presented. According to the computer simulation, the proposed method is simulated, and its performance is verified. Also, the experimental test is confirmed its reliability.
