  • Recliner of automotive seat has the function to control the angle and has a close relation to the safety of seat. Therefore each of parts constituting recliner is important and recliner case to protect these parts from various dynamic loads is also important. As two kinds of recliner cases are designed and analyzed before manufacturing these products, this study result can be contributed to the strength durability.

  • We are going to propose equations for stable static and endurance strength design of driveshafts. It is very important to decide the contact normal stress of internal components of CV joints. We can estimate the strength, torque capacity, endurance life of CV joints from contact normal stress by presented equation in this paper. Besides it can be shown the equation for shaft design.

  • Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFCs) operate in wide-range changes in temperature, humidity, and electric current for automotive applications. In order to operate automotive PEFC efficiently, optimal air supply is required to adjust to these changes. This paper presents an air-supply optimization process that consists of experiments, modeling of the PEFC system, and optimization. The objective is to establish an air supply suitable for the required power for PEFC system and optimized with a Lagrange multiplier. Our simplified PEFC system model is used as a constraint for optimization problem. The result of this paper presents that efficient operation of PEFC system can be achieved by air-supply optimization.

차체 외부에서의 유동해석 (Flow Analysis on the Outside of Automotive Body)

  • The air resistance about automotive body is studied by the flow analysis in this study. Maximum air flow velocity is shown with 28 to 30 m/s on the upper roof of automotive body. The air flow becomes most regular at automotive body model 3 but the model of 2 or 3 becomes irregular in comparison with the model 1. The maximum air resistance pressure is shown with 413 to 420 Pa at the front bumper of automotive body. The flow velocity at inlet or middle plane of automotive body is shown as the contour same with the model of 1, 2, or 3. But the velocity at outlet plane at model 1 is shown as the contour different with the model of 2 or 3.

  • This study was performed to design the optimal block type expansion valve through analyzing the characteristics of the block type expansion valve in automotive air conditioning system using HFC-134a. Because an alternative refrigerant (HFC-l34a) is being used instead of CFC-12 for automotive air conditioning system, newly designed air conditioning components are necessary due to changes in characteristics. The performance tests were accomplished through the test bench, that is manufactured based on the study. And then it was carried out to measure the variation of temperature and pressure at each part of the air conditioning system according to the compressor speed.

  • For improving high-safety, convenience, and ride comfort, the automotive design suffers from radical increase of the weight, the recycling-related rules, regulations on the waste gas, and environmental protection of the resources. Among them, it is well known that the weight increase is the most critical. Thus, in order to minimize the weight of the body-in-white that takes up 20-30% of the whole weight of the automobile, most automotive manufacturers have attempted to develop the aluminum intensive body-in-white using aluminum space frames. In this research, the crush test and simulation for aluminum extrusions are performed to evaluate the collapse characteristics of that light weighted material. Also. the same test and simulation was done for aluminum extrusions filled with structural foam. Then, these results are analyzed and compared. From these studies, the effectiveness of structural foam is evaluated in improving automotive crashworthiness. Finally, the design strategy and guideline of the structural form are suggested in order to improve the crashworthiness for aluminum space frame in the vehicle.

  • In this study, we analyze the automotive chip ecosystem that recently caused the global supply shortage, and attempt to derive policy implications for us from the conclusion. Automotive chips are critical parts that control various systems so that a vehicle can drive itself or operate with electricity. The current shortage in supply and demand for automotive chips is due to the inconsistency between supply and demand between automotive chip companies and car manufacturers. To promote the automotive chip industry, new investment incentives, tax cuts, and human resource training are needed.

  • As the paradigm of future vehicles changes, the interest in automotive semiconductor, which plays a key role in realizing this, is increasing. Automotive semiconductors are the technology with very high entry barriers that require a lot of effort and time because it must secure technology readiness level and also consider safety and reliability. In this technology field, it is very important to develop new businesses and create opportunities through technology trend analysis. However, systematic analysis and application of automotive semiconductor technology trends are currently lacking. In this paper, U.S. registered patent documents related to automotive semiconductor were collected and investigated based on the patent's IPC. The main technology of automotive semiconductor was analyzed through topic modeling, and the technology path such as emerging technology was investigated through cosine similarity. We identified that those emerging technologies such as driving control for vehicle and AI service appeared. We observed that as time passed, both convergence and independence of automotive semiconductor technology proceeded simultaneously.

  • Purpose of this paper is to accummulate database of automotive steel sheet from mild steel to high strength steel in cold rolled steel sheets. Physical properties, mainly mechanical properties, of steel sheet are tested and all data are arranged to one sheet. Methods of test are composed of FLD, tensile strength test, chemical composition, surface roughness and product conditions. Finally this database will be helpful to automotive body designers and die designers to design automotive body parts and tools in a material point of view.
