  • Nowadays, the increasing global competition forces automobile manufacturer to increase quality and to reduce the cost and time for manufacturing planning. To solve these problems, automobile manufacturers try to apply digital manufacturing technologies. In this paper, a concept of method for planning the digital assembly system is proposed. Based on the requirements of assembly tasks obtained through product analysis, the function and sequence modeling for assembly process is executed using the IDEF0 and UML model. For implementation of digital assembly system, the selected components are modeled by using 3D CAD tools. According to the system configuration strategy, lots of the alternative solutions for the assembly system are generated. Finally, the optimal assembly system is chosen by the evaluation of the alternative solutions with TOPSIS(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method. According to proposed procedure, digital laser welding system is implemented in DELMIA.

  • The paper describes the contents and results of the national project named "Development of Computer Integrated Product Design for Automation Equipment". It is focussed on the real-time control '||'&'||' monitoring of manufacturing process for automobile rubber parts. Automobile rubber parts industy is one of the typical process that high11 depends upon manufacturing facilities and equipments. So. it requires high cost and engineering technolog) on plant implementation. But most companies of rubber parts industries are small or mid companies that habe weak abilities for plant implementation properly and systematically. Therefore, for upgrading the levelof automation. it is necessar). to dekelope the computer based management and monitoring slsteni that enables to build-up the common base of automation and systemization. 'Through this project. we developed low cost real-time monitoring system for banbun mixing process '||'&'||' mold injection process of rubbcr parts manufacturing, that is composed with DDCU(Distributed Digital Control Unit),signal interfaces to gathering mon~toring terms and speciall\ developed functional sofhare including some algorithm for management '||'&'||' process monitoring

  • Automotive manufacturing is a traditional manufacturing industry that consumes a lot of energy and emits a lot of pollutants, and needs to improve environmental performance through digital transformation of supply chains. In this study, 13 hypotheses were put forward based on supply chain digital transformation, supply chain dynamic capability and enterprise environmental performance. The results of the questionnaire survey on the managers and employees of automobile manufacturing enterprises in 7 regions of China show that the digital transformation of supply chain can help improve the environmental performance of automobile manufacturing enterprises under the influence of supply chain dynamic capability

  • In this paper, we report bankruptcy risk level forecasting result for automobile parts manufacturing industry. With the premise that upstream supply risk and downstream demand risk could impact on automobile parts industry bankruptcy level in advance, we draw upon industry input-output table to use the economic indicators which could reflect the extent of supply and demand risk of the automobile parts industry. To verify the validity of each economic indicator, we applied simple linear regression for each indicators by varying the time lag from one month (t-1) to 12 months (t-12). Finally, with the valid indicators obtained through the simple regressions, the composition of valid economic indicators are derived using stepwise linear regression. Using the monthly automobile parts industry bankruptcy frequency data accumulated during the 5 years, R-square values of the stepwise linear regression results are 68.7%, 91.5%, 85.3% for the 3, 6, 9 months time lag cases each respectively. The computational testing results verifies the effectiveness of our approach in forecasting bankruptcy risk forecasting of the automobile parts industry.

  • The expolitation of substitute material and new manufacturing technology of the automobile body panel for next generation cars have been steadily professed by advanced automobile companies. High strength steel of TRIP (Transformation of Induced Plasticity) type is developed in response to demands about crash safety and high strength of automobile. In this study, basic technologies can fix up problems occurring on the mass production and applied to the other forming methods will be prepared through rasping a property of TRIP material.

  • Rotary kiln in cement work has been evaluated for a wide variety of organic wastes such as wood, used tyres, plastic wastes and automobile shredder residue (ASR). However the presence of chlorine hampers the use of ASR as fuel in rotary kiln. Therefore, the behavior characteristics of chlorine components in rotary kiln should be considered to develop an effective method for ASR treatment to recovery energy resources. The aim of this paper is to present the chlorine control system applied to a cement manufacturing process for ASR use as an alternative fuel. In this work, the simulation of bypass unit and cyclones for chlorine control in rotary kiln has been studied and compared with the operation results of field test.

  • This paper presents a six sigma application case study for an automobile steering wheel manufacturing process using rolled throughput yield improvement activity. Hidden factory and first pass yield concept is introduced and a DMAIC procedure is implemented to maximize the first pass yield. The result of the six sigma project amounts to the reduction of failure cost of 1.2 billion won per year in the steering wheel manufacturing process. This paper can benefit six sigma practitioners in some ways.

  • In automobile company it is needed to establish the collaborative relationship between the assembly company and the part manufacturing company. In this paper we established the improvement for the procurement logistics and logistics in assembly company and thus we derived the near optimal procurement cycle through the simple EXCEL simulation and the improved inventory management method for H automobile company in CHINA. At this time we adopted the pull manufacturing process instead of push manufacturing process. We resulted that the manufacturing activity of both companies was stabilized and the usage of storage area in assembly company was reduced by 50%, especially it was reduced by 100% in the case of directly delivering the parts to assembly line through the third party logistics company.

  • Currently, in automobile industry. the efforts to reduce the manufacturing cost by changing the process of manufacturing are continually performed. In this paper, we proposed a new manufacturing process, the roll bending of a ring plate of automotive fuel tank instead of conventional press blanking process to reduce material loss and manufacturing cost. Finite element analysis was used to optimize the roll bending process to assure rectangular cross-section of the ring plate. Also, spring-back analysis after the roll bending was performed and dimension of the bending die considering spring-back was analyzed. Finally, we verified a possibility for realization of the proposed method shape with prototypes.

  • In consideration of the injuries and deaths occurring at manufacturing sites due to the use of inappropriate work clothes or safety devices, this study aims to categorize manufacturing work processes to develop functional work clothes for heavy industries including the automobile, machine and shipbuilding industries in South Korea. Defining the features of the work environments and work postures of these industries provided for a categorization of the work processes which would enable the development of suitable work clothes for each work process' category. The results of the study based on a questionnaire survey are as follows: Work process category 1, including steel panel pressing and auto body assembly, final inspection (in automobile) and inspection (in machine), requires work clothes with upper body and arm mobility and performance to protect from the toxic fume factor. Work process category 2, consisting of welding (in automobile), cutting-and-forming (in machine) and attachment-and-construction (in shipbuilding), requires clothing elasticity, durability and heat and fire resistance. Work process category 3 comprising welding and grinding in the machine and shipbuilding industries, requires work clothes' tear resistance and elasticity, particularly for lateral bending mobility, and work clothes' sleeves' and pants' hemlines with sealed designs to defend against iron filing penetration, as well as incombustible and heat-resistant material performance. Finally, work process category 4, including painting in machine and shipbuilding, requires work clothes with waterproofing, air permeability, thermal performance, elasticity, durability and abrasion resistance.
