Development of Vehicle Assembly Process based on 3D (3D 기반 자동차 조립 프로세스 개발)

  • In order to show the assembly process in detail, we used Script languages and it's simulation tried to do an automobile assembly process with 3D. 3D View techniques is the method of the optimum which helps the studying activity from industrial site. We developed 3D View in order to show a assembly process with 3D about engine part and tire part. Specially we experimented the user will be able to study actually using touch screen on the working.

  • The Aerospace and automobile industries have need to avoid sheet-metal forming problem such as incorrect springback after forming and trimming process, excessive thinning/tearing, wrinking/perkering. It is common practice to use costly trial-and-error experimental methods to develop tooling and manufacturing process parameters. Experimentation should be complemented with computer simulation to reduce cost and leadtime in manufacturing and to influence the design of components. In this study, firstly we solved the springback problem after drawing and trimming process of KFP(F100-229) engine airsealing bearing support part(53H00) forming and studied on the effect of several process parameters on the gap between the formed blank and punch shape using the implicit F.E.M code(ABAQUS). Secondly by the three dimensional dynamic analysis using the explicit. F. E. M code (LS-DYNA3D), we studied on the effect of several process parameters which can be used for avoid tearing and wrinking during the drawing process.

A Study on Backflow Simulation of Rainwater for Automotive Body (자동차 차체에서 빗물의 역류 모사에 관한 연구)

  • Large number of part design such as for aircraft and automotive development is preceded by functional or sectional design groups for efficiency. With the assembly development of large number of parts, interferences and gaps can be found when the parts and sub-assemblies by those design groups are to be assembled. When rainwater come into the space among parts and is not be drained sufficiently, rainwater within the structure can backflow to gaps or unexpected outlets, which may cause severe problems of part corrosion and electric shock. This research has developed a method and a program to simulate backflow of rainwater within space among parts, which can find unexpected outlets and gaps as in real situation. The developed program can not only simulate up and downstream of liquid, but also the flow with multiple channels of division and joining. The developed method can also be applied to aircraft and ship design process.

  • Seat is one of the most important part of an automobile for passenger's safety especially when an accident happens. A recliner is a part of the seat assembly, having the function of adjusting the back-plate angle of a seat. Recently, many kinds of vehicles have adopted the round recliner module rather than the conventional types of recliners because of its broad compatibility and structural simplicity. In this study a two-dimensional finite element strength analysis has been performed using a commercial code ABAQUS/Standard for the purpose of developing a new round recliner model. The loading condition for the analysis is the same as the FMVSS 301 regulation. The finite element result for the round recliner has been compared with that for the conventional type.

  • A plane stress yield function YLD2000(Yoon et al., 2000) is applied to the finite element analysis S/W Z-Stamp because it is required to conduct proper consideration of aluminum alloy which has anomalous behavior. In the previous study, verification of the yield function and developed S/W is implemented. In this paper, two real parts of automobile body are additionally considered to verify the validity of Z-Stamp. The one is the benchmark problem #2 of Numisheet 2005 and the other is a small member part. In case of benchmark problem, formability simulation result and try-out result are compared with each other. In case of the small member part, formability analysis is implemented to predict the problem during the developing time.

  • This study is for stabilizer, a parts of automotive suspension system, that would be changed to Plastic Material. The part is designed and analyze by PRO-E. The position of Weld Line is founded by the C-mold, computer software with FEM. Then a Mold is designed by consideration with locating Weld Line. Mechanical property tests, such as tensile test, compression test, ball pull-out test, fatigue test and durability test are done the part by SAE test spec. Most of all the result of the tests show over requirement result without the compression test.

  • For constant operation, Electric Railway System has many electrically divided parts of the trolley lines to avoid error spreading. FRP-Section have a role to divide Catenary trolley lines electrically. If one electric train approach to the section at the same time with partial power failure, the pantograph of train can make a short circuit with supplied part to failure part. Electric arc induced with this switching effect, can break FRP-section, and there are such error cases. In this study, we propose one method to prevent FRP-section breakdown from these reason, with detecting sensor at the sectional position.

  • Injection molding process was taken to manufacture DC motor case that surrounds DC motor used as automobile parts. Up to now, DC motor case has been made by the deep drawing process or bending process of metal materials. Simulations of filling, packing and cooling processes were done by CAE tool like Moldflow software. Optimal delivery system was decided from the analysis of flow balance, and packing and cooling analyses were performed by using the design of experiment to minimize the volumetric shrinkage of molded part and the temperature difference between mold and part.

  • Wrinkles and shape distortions are generated during the forming of B-pillar(or center pillar) which is a component of the automobile side-frame. The stretch flanging modes at the joining part of the B-pillar and the roof-rail or the side-still give rise to forming problems when taior-welded blanks are applied to the side-frames. The authors simplified B-pillar lower part to T shaped section to investigate the forming behaviors. Three of die step locations and two of blank types were tested to show the effects of weld line locations and edge conditions on he forming of tailor welded blanks. The heights of body wrinkles and the strain distribution in the stretch flanged area were measured and compared.

  • Every mechanical part for mass production has dimensions with tolerances in engineering drawing. Tolerance is given to guarantee assemble parts together satisfying functional requirements and dimensional constraints. Tolerance is essential factor for standardization of parts or assembly and has huge influence on manufacturing cost. It will be desirable to have tolerances as broad as possible for minimizing manufacturing cost. This paper describes tolerance analysis of u-joint assembly that is a part of automobile steering system. Within the range of tolerances of parts, accumulated effect is estimated by arithmetic calculation, probability theory and Monte carlo simulation. Each result is compared to investigate the method for increasing productivity.
