  • Auto-industry is very difficult to standardize item code generation rule, because it has more than 20,000 parts in this industry. As finished good companies have already used the ERP system such as SAP, they have a good Master Data Management(MDM) system. However, since many supplier companies have poor MDM system, they have a lot of barriers on system implementation like ERP, MES. PDM systems. This study surveys various benchmarking sites and investigates the standardization of item code of the auto-parts manufacturing companies. Finally, this study proposes the implementation guide (IMG) of auto-industry MDM standardization.

  • Recently, automobile manufacturing companies, which are major customers of them, are requiring IATF 16949 (ISO/TS 16949) certification as a mandatory requirement to secure product quality. In particular, IATF 16949 : 2016, revised in October 2016, was reinforced product traceability requirements for production information management by lot in the production process. Therefore, small and medium-sized precision parts processing companies in the automobile industry are very difficult to survive due to quality and price competition for customers satisfaction. MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is required to solve this problem. However, small and medium sized precision parts processing enterprises are reluctant to introduce the MES which is not suitable for the manufacturing environment of them such as high cost and low utilization. Even if the system is introduced, it is difficult to operate and maintain the system because the lack of computer manpower. In this paper, we propose a method for building a lot tracking system for small and medium precision parts processing companies by reviewing relevant literature and analyzing cases. In addition, by managing the production history for each lot of the final product in the system, we will grasp the effect of reducing the quality failure cost obtained by minimizing the range of defect selection.

  • Remanufacturing is restoring or manufacturing the worn-out or discarded components of an end of life product in order to bring it to the "like new" condition. The aim is to reprocess used products in such a manner that the quality of the products is as good as or better than the new one, in terms of appearance, reliability and performance. This paper investigates the automotive remanufacturing industry in Europe. To further knowledge in this field, the paper focuses on the remanufacturing of the automotive components of end-of-life vehicles. The paper scope emphasizes key remanufacturing companies, which are identified and were surveyed in terms of their business structures. The research aims to address the potential for growth within the remanufacturing industry, with regard to various players. The state of the art in remanufacturing of automotive equipment will be identified.

  • The value chain has been utilized as a strategic tool to improve competitive advantage, mainly at the enterprise level and at the industrial level. However, in order to conduct value chain analysis at the enterprise level, the client companies of the parent company should be classified according to whether they belong to it's value chain. The establishment of a value chain for a single company can be performed smoothly by experts, but it takes a lot of cost and time to build one which consists of multiple companies. Thus, this study proposes a model that automatically classifies the companies that form a value chain based on actual transaction data. A total of 19 transaction attribute variables were extracted from the transaction data and processed into the form of input data for machine learning method. The proposed model was constructed using the Random Forest algorithm. The experiment was conducted on a automobile parts company. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model can classify the client companies of the parent company automatically with 92% of accuracy, 76% of F1-score and 94% of AUC. Also, the empirical study confirm that a few transaction attributes such as transaction concentration, transaction amount and total sales per customer are the main characteristics representing the companies that form a value chain.

  • Recently, with developments in the automotive industry, sound and vibration damping have a considerable attraction with a diversified customer needs and advanced automobile. In general, among various materials, textile materials, such as felt and glass fibers, polyurethane foam, and PET fiber materials were used to reduce sound and vibration of the automobile. These materials were located in various main parts of the automobile to block sound and vibration, resulting in a comfortable ride. In addition, to improve fuel economy, weight reduction and cost saving for the automobile were also being considered together as well as the reduction of sound and vibration of the automobile. Therefore, in this paper, we focused on the need of interior sound and vibration absorption materials in the automobile and absorption materials-related technologies.

  • In recent, most of automobile industries adopt the concept of Just In Time production. The paternal manufacturers require their suppliers to supply parts just in time. It is very important for a subcontractor to produce the parts in the appointed time of delivery. This study develops a production information system for Woosin Industry, which is one of such subcontractor of Hundai Motors Company(HNC). The system is developed on Client/Server system. Firstly, three modules are developed, i.e., scheduling module to make a schedule, the subsystem of sales management to deal with the information about order of HMC, delivery of parts, and bill collecting, and the module for supporting material requirement planning and purchace of material.

  • As 4.0 industry has been developed, research on a self-driving car technology and related parts of an automobile has been highly investigated recently. Particularly, a TAS(Torque Angle Sensor) module on steering wheel system has been considered as a key technology because of its precise angle, torque detection and high speed signal processing. The environmental assessment is generally required on the TAS module to examine high resolution of angle/torque detection. In the case of existing TAS module, angle detection errors has been occurred by back-lash on main and sub gear in addition to complicated structure caused by gears. In this paper, a structure of the TAS module, which minimizes the numbers of components and angle detection errors on the module compared with the existing TAS module, for vehicle steering system based on a Multi-track Encoder has been proposed. Also, angle detection signal processing board, and key technology of the TAS module were fabricated and evaluated. As a result of the experiments, we confirmed an excellent performance of the fabricated signal processing board for angle detection and an applicability of the fabricated angle detection board on the TAS module of vehicles by the environmental assessment an automobile standard.
