  • RadarBeacons are navigational equipment that helps the navigators avoid dangerous rocks, such as heavy fog, nighttime, etc. when ships operate, or when visibility is bad. The existing antenna was researching the development of the advanced radar eacon (Enhanced Radar Beacon) for improving the development of the next generation racon with the AIS (Automatic Identification System) function.

  • 최근 항만에서 기인한 대기오염물질에 대한 심각성이 고조되고 있다. 본 연구는 부산항 (북항, 감천항 및 다대포항)을 대상으로 6월 한달 간의 항내에서 발생하는 대기오염물질 배출량을 추정하였다. 신뢰성 있는 대기오염물질 배출량 추정을 위하여 AIS(Automatic Identification System) 데이터를 기반으로 한 계산 방신인 Bottom-up 추정 방식을 활용하였으며 연료소모총량과 연료소비의 결과로서 발생한 대기오염물질 총량을 함께 분석하였다. 또한, 추정 배기가스 량을 이용하여 부산항에서의 환경 비용을 계산하였다.

  • This paper deals with an intelligent digital ship which aims at development to support economic and safe services through an integration into the hierarchically layered digital signals such as ship's navigation, maneuvering and control signal and establishing a one-man bridge system in order to provide a support systems between ship and land station. This paper introduces the results of the mid-term project sponsored from Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy which consists of three sub-project such as INS(Intelligent Navigation System), AIS(Automatic Identification System), and IMIT (Integrated Maritime Information Technology). The INS system that can allow ships to navigate economically and safely through the integration and analysis of national data within the ship. AIS is a system that reports automatically on the location of the ship in order to prevent the collision between ships and between the ship and the land. IMIT is a integrated system for providing an efficient and economic support system between ships and the land and a ship-land platform and technologies.

  • In this paper, we utilize generalized warped filterbanks to improve the performance of speaker recognition systems. At first, the performance of speaker identification systems is analyzed by varying the type of warped filterbanks. Based on the results that the error pattern of recognition system is different depending on the type of filterbank used, we combine the likelihood values of the statistical models that consist of the features extracting from multiple warped filterbanks. Simulation results with TIMIT and NTIMIT database verify that the proposed system shows relative improvement of identification rate by 31.47% and 15.14% comparing it to the conventional system.

  • A refined version of automatic micro-organism recognition and identification method, 'O.I.S.M.2' is proposed in this paper, using image processing based on an expert system. This proposed method is based on the segmentation of the organism image, characterizing segment features, which are independent of individual size and length. Complicated shapes of organisms are divided into basic shape segments defined in this paper such as lines, circles, ovals etc. Organisms can then be expressed simply in a set of segments, regardless their individual differences.

  • The purpose of this paper is to build a computer vision system that endows an autonomous mobile robot the ability of automatic measuring of the analog and digital meters installed in nuclear power plant(NPP). This computer vision system takes a significant part in the organization of automatic surveillance and measurement system having the instruments and gadzets in NPP under automatic control situation. In the meter image captured by the camera, the meter area is sorted out using mainly the thresholding and the region labeling and the meter value recognition process follows. The positions and the angles of the needles in analog meter images are detected using the projection based method. In the case of digital meters, digits and points are extracted and finally recognized through the neural network classifier. To use available database containing relevant information about meters and to build fully automatic meter recognition system, the segmentation and recognition of the function-name in the meter printed around the meter area should be achieved for enhancing identification reliability. For thus, the function- name of the meter needs to be identified and furthermore the scale distributions and values are also required to be analyzed for building the more sophisticated system and making the meter recognition fully automatic.

  • The Field robot means the machinery applied for outdoor tasks in construction, agriculture and undersea etc. In this study, to field-robotize a hydraulic excavator that is mostly used in construction working, we have developed an automatic excavation system and an adaptive control system. A model-reference adaptive controller has been designed based on the model that is obtained through off-line system identification. It is illustrated by computer simulations that the proposed control system gives good performance in the trajectory tracking control and the adaptation to parameter variation.

  • In this paper, authors introduce about wide vessel traffic service(VTS) system using automatic identification system(AIS). In order to develop the prototype of wide VTS system, Koreasat is used for AIS. In this system, ship position obtained by using GPS is reported automatically to VTS center through Koreasat. By using this system, VTS center can cover more wide area than the case using radar only. And the uncertainty of information decreases. The results of test show the good possibility of VTS using satellite and AIS.

  • Summarization is a complex cognitive task and its simulation is very difficult for machines. This paper presents an automatic summarization strategy that is based on a discourse categorization of the textual information. This categorization is carried out by the automatic identification of discourse markers in texts. We defend here the use of discourse methods in automatic summarization. Two evaluations of the summarization strategy are presented. The summaries produced by our strategy are evaluated with summaries produced by humans and other applications. These two evaluations display well the capacity of our application, based on EXCOM, to produce summaries comparable to the summaries of other applications.
