  • A successful on-line monitoring system for conventional machining operations has the potential to reduce cost, guarantee consistency of product quality, improve productivity and provide a safer environment for the operator. In fee-shape machining, typical signs of tool problems such as vibration, noise, chip flow characteristics and visual signs are almost unnoticeable without the use of special equipment. These characteristics increase the importance of automatic monitoring in fine-shape machining; however, sensing and interpretation of signals are more complex. In addition, the shafts of the micro-tools break before the typical extensive cutting edge of the tool gets damaged. In this study, the existence of a relationship between the characteristics of the cutting force and tool usage was investigated, and tool breakage detection algorithm was developed and the fellowing results are obtained. In data analysis, didn't use a relative error compare which mainly used in established experiment and investigated tool breakage detection algorithm in time domain which can detect AE and cutting force signals more effective and accurate.

공구파손검출을 위한 시스템인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the System Identification for Detection of Tool Breakage)

  • The demands for robotic and automatic system are continually increasing in manufacturing fields. There have been many studies to monitor and predict the system, but they have mainly focused upon measuring cutting force, and current of motor spindle, and upon using acoustic sensor, etc. In this study, time series sequence of cutting force was acquired by taking advantage of piezoelectric type tool dynamometer. Radial cutting force was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA(parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. ARMA(auto regressive moving average) model was selected for system model and second order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter.

선삭가공 중 신경망을 이용한 채터진동의 감시 (Monitoring of Chatter Vibration using Neural Network in Turning Operation)

  • Monitoring of the chatter vibration is necessarily required to do automatic manufacturing system. Therefore, we constructed a sensing system using tool dynamometer in order to monitor of chatter vibration on cutting process. Furthemore, an application of neural network using behavior of principal cutting force signals Is attempted. With the error back propagation trining process, the neural network memorized and classified the feature of principal cutting force signals. From obtained result, it is shown that the chatter vibration can be monitored effectively by neural network.

  • In this study, PC-based slicing machine and driving software were constructed for the purpose of automation of semi-conductor cutting process. The biggest feature of software is variation of parameter and include data base, signal monitoring, error report, corresponding action or automatic motion planing. Parameters were drawn and algorithms were developed to make software by GUI interface. The cutting experiment was done for sampled wafer to see the effectiveness of the soft automation. From the experimented and implemented results, it is shown that parameters for automation of slicing process could be drawn, then its algorithms constructed. It could be considered what is the merit of this slicing machine by comparing the PC-based and the NC-based.

  • This paper was performed on the automatic selection of cutting condition on multispindle machine. the several mathematical relationships were formulated for simulataneous selection of machining parameters and tool changing scheme. In this research we used two step generative approach; step 1 is mathematical modeling for the selection of optimal cutting conditions and the other is GMDH-TYPE modeling to find prediction equation of system performance. thus in this paper, mathematical machining models combined with a heuristic GMDH-TYPE modeling to estimate the system performance, these models are developed computer programs for practical application and it was shown that the proposed approach has a good potential and offers a valuable tools to performance evaluation for metal cutting system.

  • A punched pipe in a muffler for an automobile has many important variables, like location of holes in the pipe and length of the pipe related to noise reduction of a diffuser. This pipe is cut depending on length of product and this process, generally workers cut pipes by hands. In this process, there are many errors and it relies on the skill of workers, so it can happen that cycle time for complete product gets long and productivity gets low. Therefore, we need a vision system to distinguish holes in the punched pipe and a transfer system to set the cutting position automatically by moving the pipe depending on forward and backward part of the holes. This paper explains the development of an automatic transfer device which will cause the beating pipe to be cut correctly, exactly the same length as the product.

  • This paper presents the methodology for measuring eccentricity of the machined cylindrical part using CCS(cylindrical capacitance spindle sensor) signal in the CNC turning process. We use capacitance type sensor to take full advantage of averaging effect by using large capacitance area to encompass the whole side of a sensor. The intentionally proposed initial eccentricity is applied to the experimental testpieces, and their resultant relationships between CCS orbits and eccentricities are investigated. As a result, the possibility as a automatic detection apparatus for the CNC lathe is considered based on the linearities of CCS signal and magnitude of eccentricity of machined cylindrical surfaces.

  • 3축 파이프 형상절단기에서 다양한 접합형상에 대하여 모관과 지관의 접합궤적을 수학적으로 유도하였다. 그 접합궤적에 절단폭 등의 공구 보정하여 실제로 가공할 절단궤적을 결정하여 이 공구궤적에 해당하는 CL-data를 생성하고, 또한 공구 궤적을 확인하기 위하여 ghost 기능을 구현하였다. 생성된 CL data를 PLC의 위치결정제어 모듈에 로딩하여 동시 3축($\alpha$, X, $\beta$축)의 이송을 제어하여 경로를 따라서 형상절단과 동시에 개선을 할 수 있도록 동시3축 파이프 형상절단 시스템을 개발하였다.
