CHARACTERISTICS OF A NEW PNEUMATIC TRANSFER SYSTEM FOR A NEUTRON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS AT THE HANARO RESEARCH REACTOR

  • A rapid pneumatic transfer system (PTS) for an instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) is developed as an automatic irradiation facility involving the measurement of a short half-life nuclide and a delayed neutron counting system. Three new PTS designs with improved functions were constructed at the HANARO research reactor in 2006. The new system is composed of a manual system and an automatic system for both an INAA and a delayed neutron activation analysis (DNAA). The design and basic conception of a modified PTS are described, and the functions of system operation and control, radiation protection and emissions of radioactive gas are improved. In addition, a form of capsule transportation of these systems is tested. The experimental results pertaining to the irradiation characteristics with variation of the neutron flux and the temperature of the irradiation position with the irradiation time are presented, as is an analysis of the reference material for analytical quality control and uncertainty assessments.

스마트 건설안전관리시스템의 중요도-성과도 분석 연구 (Research on Importance-Performance Analysis of Smart Construction Safety Management System)

  • This study analyzes the importance-performance analysis (IPA) of the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, and analyzes which dimensions are important and which dimensions are performing to determine key improvement tasks, incremental improvement tasks, Maintenance and reinforcement tasks and continuous maintenance tasks were derived. Among the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, the dimensions that are recognized as important by all field managers and field workers and have high performance are the automatic risk displacement measurement system, smart environmental sensor system, and heavy equipment seizure prevention system. However, areas that were perceived as having high importance but low performance were worker location tracking systems, smart safety helmet chin muscles, and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field managers, areas for key improvement with high importance and low performance included worker location tracking system and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field workers, the area for key improvement with high importance and low performance was the automatic risk displacement measurement system.

  • A new automatic small target detection and tracking algorithm for the real-time IR surveillance system is presented. The automatic target detection and tracking algorithm of the real-time systems, requires low complexity and robust tracking performance in the cluttered environment. Linear-array and parallel-scan IR systems usually suffer from severe scan noise caused by the detector non-uniformity. After the spatial filtering and thresholding, this scan noise still remains as high amplitude clutter which degrades the target detection rate and tracking performance. In this paper, we propose a new feature which consists of area and validity information of a measurement. By adopting this feature to the measurements selection and track confirmation, we can increase the target detection rate and reduce both the track loss rate and false track rate. From the experimental results, we can validate the feasibility of the proposed method in the noisy IR images.

  • A large-scale construction project relies much on the efficiency of construction equipment. Therefore, efficient and accurate measurement on the productivity of construction equipment is one of important task in the construction industry. Based on the motivation, this paper proposes a 11-axis composite sensor for an automatic measurement of construction equipment. A 11-axis composite sensor is composed of a gyroscope, geomagnetic and accelerometer sensor for the purpose of real-time motion captures of construction equipment. It is expected that the proposed system can save considerable time, effort and cost of measuring a efficiency of construction equipment.

  • In conducting indoor positioning by code division multiple access using spread spectrum ultrasonic waves, it is required to detect signals under the influence of near-far problem occurred by difference on signal power, caused by distance between transmitter and receiver. For discussing robustness to the problem, we verified measuring accuracy on distance from an experiment on a real space with a hardware device where our proposed method is mounted. The proposed method performs automatic signal detection by setting threshold level dynamically. As an experimental result, measurable distance were improved by the proposed method, and measurement errors were up to 50mm in distances from 1000mm to 6000mm; therefore, enough accuracy to realize self-localization or navigation for autonomous mobile robot or human was obtained.

  • The best sunroof wind noise quality is mainly related to the sunroof deflector which affects both low-speed buffeting and high-speed aerodynamic noise. An automatic deflector-moving and noise-measuring apparatus is developed to obtain hundreds of measuring data which haven't been available by hand. With an additional program for fast and easy noise analysis, this device leads quickly to the better position and angle of the deflector. Now, the 'better' means the lower noise level and the robuster design solution. From these kinds of better solutions, more meaningful guidelines on the deflector design and sunroof wind noise reduction can be suggested.

Remote Distance Measurement from a Single Image by Automatic Detection and Perspective Correction

  • This paper proposes a novel method for locating objects in real space from a single remote image and measuring actual distances between them by automatic detection and perspective transformation. The dimensions of the real space are known in advance. First, the corner points of the interested region are detected from an image using deep learning. Then, based on the corner points, the region of interest (ROI) is extracted and made proportional to real space by applying warp-perspective transformation. Finally, the objects are detected and mapped to the real-world location. Removing distortion from the image using camera calibration improves the accuracy in most of the cases. The deep learning framework Darknet is used for detection, and necessary modifications are made to integrate perspective transformation, camera calibration, un-distortion, etc. Experiments are performed with two types of cameras, one with barrel and the other with pincushion distortions. The results show that the difference between calculated distances and measured on real space with measurement tapes are very small; approximately 1 cm on an average. Furthermore, automatic corner detection allows the system to be used with any type of camera that has a fixed pose or in motion; using more points significantly enhances the accuracy of real-world mapping even without camera calibration. Perspective transformation also increases the object detection efficiency by making unified sizes of all objects.

  • According to the national building status, there are a total of 2.89 million buildings that are over 30 years old after completion, and the number is increasing by more than 70,000 to 80,000 buildings every year. As a result, the demand for demolition works is also increasing, and more than 3 to 4 collapse accidents occur steadily every year during demolition work. Major causes of accidents include non-compliance with plans, negligence of on-site supervisors, and failure to secure structural safety. Due to the strengthening of the Severe Disaster Punishment Act, there is growing interest in the demand for secure management of collapse detection during demolition works. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the applicability of real-time safety monitoring systems using a total station capable of 3D automatic displacement measurement in building demolition work for securing structural safety by the load changes during the demolition process.

  • Recently, the system of the industry demands quick and accurate measurement for the mass production and high quality. Also, we need to improve the accuracy to decrease the failure rate in automatic assembly processing and improve the confidence, durability and the compatibility of parts. To answer this tendency and requirement, we have developed many accrate measuring instruments and methods. In this paper, we develop the whidows program using the DSP board(TMS320C25) which is used the data acquisition and the Visual C $^{++}$ , a windows programming language. We perform the measurement, analysis and output process in GUI(Graphic User Interface)environment. By using system, we will save the time required for the hand-worked measurement and avoid the useless iterative measurement. Furthermore, we expect to improve the productivity through automotive quality control in manufacturing process.s.

노면 종.횡단 요철 자동 측정 시스템 개발 (Development of an Automatic Transverse and Longitudinal Road Profile Measurement System)

  • 도로 노면상태와 관련된 신뢰성 있는 데이터는 도로 유지 및 관리 당국과 운전자에게 도로 노면상태에 대한 정보를 제공하기 위해 그 중요성이 날로 증대하고 있다. 본 논문은 새로운 고속의 자동 노면 데이터 획득장치의 개발에 관한 것이다. 개발된 장치는 100km/h의 주행속도에서 도로노면 청단 전체 폭에 대해 30cm 간격으로 종단 노면 데이터를 수집하고, 수집된 데이터로부터 국제평탄성지수(IRI)를 계산하여 노면요철 데이터와 함께 스크린상에 디스플레이 한다. 이 같은 시스템의 구현을 위해 광학적 거리측정기, 계측차량의 진행거리 및 움직임 계측기, 데이터 처리 및 디스플레이 모듈을 고안하였다. 70km/h의 주행 속도로 측정한 결과, 개발된 시스템의 측정 정확도는 표준 노면에 대해 IRI에서 ${\pm}0.1m/km$ 정도의 오차를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 개발된 장비의 성능을 검증하기 위해 이미 포설된 노면에 대한 측정을 수행하여 기존 장비 및 육안 측정 결과와 비교하였다.
