This study was intended to develop the automatic feeding depth control system of the head-feed combine which could feed the rice head into threshing unit at the optimal depth regardless of plant height and uneven ground surface. In the control system, one-board microcomputer was used for the controller instead of conventional electric circuits. Field test of the combine equipped with the control system was conducted to evaluate its overall performance. It was also investigated how the location and time delay of rice head sensor affect the system performance.
In this paper the automatic system for dairy cattle has been desisted such as body temperature measuring unit, feed supplying unit and temperature control unit. Since e disease is strongly related to the body temperature of cattle, early detection of the abnormal temperature would prevent the severe problems which nay occur in dairy farms. An electronic component AD590J is used as temperature sensor for the system, The device is highly robust against the noise since the output signal is the current so it can be applied to a long distance sensing The resolution of signal is 0.1$^{\circ}C$ and the current is 10㎷ Also 12-bit A/D converter is desisted fir interfacing the sensor with a one-chip microprocessor. A temperature measuring experiment using the developed system has been done for measuring the temperature of human beings and the system was proven to be useful for measuring the body temperature of dairy cattle properly. A geared AC motor is used for the feed supplying unit The heater and fm are used as temperature control unit. The feed supplying unit and temperature control unit are well operating in the laboratory experiment.
A feeding system is a key component in manufacturing packing boxes such as printing, slotting and gluing. The role of the feeding system is to feed corrugate cardboards which is usually tick and large. So, a special method is necessary to feed corrugate cardboards. This paper suggests a concept and an automatic feeding machine to feed corrugated cardboards using TRIZ, the theory of inventive problem solving. The automatic feeding machine consists of units to regulate the machine according to length and width of corrugated cardboards, a feeding part with a plurality of small rollers, and a sucking part which intensify frictional force between rollers and the lowest feeding cardboard. In particular, the feeding part is composed of an up-and-down motion plate with holes to suck the lowest corrugated cardboard as well as small rolling rollers after stopping in a moment. Thus this machine does not sensitive to size of corrugated cardboards and also can keep feeding accuracy during feeding fast.
Linear motor feed drive systems have been broadly used in machine tools or precision automatic feed systems. Recently, modem machine tools require high speed and high precision feed drive system to achieve high productivity. Unfortunately, a feed drive system, even though it was optimum designed, may experience severe transient vibrations during high-speed operation if its feed rate control is unsuitable. A rough feed rate curve having discontinuity in its acceleration profile causes a serious vibration problem in the feed slides system. This paper presents a feed rate optimization of a machine tool feed slide system, which is driven by a linear motor, for its minimum vibrations. Firstly, a 4-degree-of-freedom lumped parameter model is proposed for the vibration analysis of a linear motor driven machine tool feed drive system. Next, a feed rate optimization of the feed slide is carried out for minimum vibrations. The feed rate curve optimization strategy is to find out the most appropriate acceleration profile with jerk continuity. Of course, the optimized feed rate should approximate to the desired one as possible. A genetic algorithm with variable penalty function was used in this feed rate optimization.
To maintain a predominantly pasture-based system, the large herd milked by automatic milking rotary would be required to walk significant distances. Walking distances of greater than 1-km are associated with an increased incidence of undesirably long milking intervals and reduced milk yield. Complementary forages can be incorporated into pasture-based systems to lift total home grown feed in a given area, thus potentially 'concentrating' feed closer to the dairy. The aim of this modelling study was to investigate the total land area required and associated walking distance for large automatic milking system (AMS) herds when incorporating complementary forage rotations (CFR) into the system. Thirty-six scenarios consisting of 3 AMS herds (400, 600, 800 cows), 2 levels of pasture utilisation (current AMS utilisation of 15.0 t dry matter [DM]/ha, termed as moderate; optimum pasture utilisation of 19.7 t DM/ha, termed as high) and 6 rates of replacement of each of these pastures by grazeable CFR (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%) were investigated. Results showed that AMS cows were required to walk greater than 1-km when the farm area was greater than 86 ha. Insufficient pasture could be produced within a 1 km distance (i.e. 86 ha land) with home-grown feed (HGF) providing 43%, 29%, and 22% of the metabolisable energy (ME) required by 400, 600, and 800 cows, respectively from pastures. Introduction of pasture (moderate): CFR in AMS at a ratio of 80:20 can feed a 400 cow AMS herd, and can supply 42% and 31% of the ME requirements for 600 and 800 cows, respectively with pasture (moderate): CFR at 50:50 levels. In contrast to moderate pasture, 400 cows can be managed on high pasture utilisation (provided 57% of the total ME requirements). However, similar to the scenarios conducted with moderate pasture, there was insufficient feed produced within 1-km distance of the dairy for 600 or 800 cows. An 800 cow herd required 140 and 130 ha on moderate and high pasture-based AMS system, respectively with the introduction of pasture: CFR at a ratio of 50:50. Given the impact of increasing land area past 86 ha on walking distance, cow numbers could be increased by purchasing feed from off the milking platform and/or using the land outside 1-km distance for conserved feed. However, this warrants further investigations into risk analyses of different management options including development of an innovative system to manage large herds in an AMS farming system.
