  • In an automated industry PLC plays a central role to control the manufacturing system. Therefore, fault free operation of PLC controlled manufacturing system is essential in order to maximize a firm's productivity. On the contrary, distributed nature of manufacturing system and growing complexity of the PLC programs presented a challenging task of designing a rapid fault finding system for an uninterrupted process operation. Hence, designing an intelligent monitoring, and diagnosis system is needed for smooth functioning of the operation process. In this paper, we propose a method to continuously acquire a stream of PLC signal data from the normal operational PLC-based manufacturing system and to generate diagnosis model from the observed PLC signal data. Consequently, the generated diagnosis model is used for distinguish the possible abnormalities of manufacturing system. To verify the proposed method, we provided a suitable case study of an assembly line.

Shape Optimization to Minimize The Response Time of Direct-acting Solenoid Valve

  • Direct-acting solenoid valves are used in the automotive industry due to their simple structure and quick response in controlling the flow of fluid. We performed an optimization study of response time in order to improve the dynamic performance of a direct-acting solenoid valve. For the optimal design process, we used the commercial optimization software PIAnO, which provides various tools for efficient optimization including design of experiments (DOE), approximation techniques, and a design optimization algorithm. 35 sampling points of computational experiments are performed to find the optimum values of the design variables. In all cases, ANSYS Maxwell electromagnetic analysis software was used to model the electromagnetic dynamics. An approximate model generated from the electromagnetic analysis was estimated and used for the optimization. The best optimization model was selected using the verified approximation model called the Kriging model, and an optimization algorithm called the progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM).

  • In this paper design and fabrication information system for steel bridge construction is studied and proposed according to the progress of Construction CALS/EC in the construction industry in Japan. The data exchange in this system bases on the text file as well as CAD data with simplified drawings. The concept of this system is discussed following the analysis on the issues of the conventional system. The application of the product model is also discussed including effects and issues on the inspection system. This paper is based on the study carried out by Special Committee on Construction CALS of JASBC to which author belong.

  • Monitoring auto correlated processes is prevalent in recent manufacturing environments. As a proactive control for manufacturing processes is emphasized especially in the semiconductor industry, it is natural to monitor real-time status of equipment through sensor rather than resultant output status of the processes. Equipment's sensor data show various forms of correlation features. Among them, considerable amount of sensor data, statistically autocorrelated, is well represented by Box-Jenkins autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model. In this paper, we present a design method of statistical process control (SPC) used for monitoring processes represented by the ARMA model. The proposed method shows benefits in the power of detecting process changes, and considers robustness to ARMA modeling errors simultaneously. We prove benefits through Monte carlo simulation-based investigations.

  • There are many plating methods already commercially employed in te surface technology. One of the plating methods is electroless (chemical) plating, which is deposited by auto-catalytic reduction of metallic ion with the reducing agent in the plating bath. And it has many advantages comparing with electrolytic plating in respect of properties of deposit, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, uniformity, hardness, adhesion and so on. So, electroless plating is the fatest growing process in metallization of plastic and electronic industry. The properties and numerous applications of electroless deposits are attracting more and more attention from finish specifies. Many metal finishers are considering set-up of new electroless line in their shops. This review will be beneficial to domestic metal finishers to understand the real status of present electroless plating technology. It will also provide some knowledge on the economic aspect of electroless plating for the commercial application of specific parts.

자동 착유시스템을 위한 다관절 로봇 머니퓰레이터의 기구학적 분석 (Kinematics Analysis of the Milti-joint Robot Manipulator for an Automatic Milking System)

  • The purpose of this study was kinematics analysis of the multi-joint robot manipulator for an automatic milking system. The multi-joint robot manipulator was consisted of one perpendicular link and four revolution links to attach simultaneously four teat cups to four teats of a milking cow. The local coordinates of each joints on the robot manipulator was given for kinematics analysis. The transformation of manipulator was able to be given by kinematics using Denavit-Hatenberg parameters. The value of inverse kinematics which was solved by two geometric solution methods. The kinematics solutions was verified by AutoCAD, MATLAB, simulation program was developed using Visual C++.

A Comparative Study on Land Use and Spatial form of TOD Models in The United States and Japan, from a City-Scale Perspective

  • The transit-oriented development (TOD) model can effectively help to solve urban problems and promote sustainable urban development. The United States and Japan are widely considered the earliest two countries to start TOD practices; however, the origins of TOD models in the two countries were different. The TOD practices in the two countries formed distinct characteristics, yet their differences have been underexplored. This study aims to grasp the characteristics of the TOD model in the two countries through a systematic comparative analysis of 10 typical cities in the United States and Japan that have adopted the TOD model. This paper compares the case cities' three key aspects of the TOD model: public transit system, spatial form, and land use, and summarizes the characteristics of TOD models in the two countries from a city-level perspective, to help deepen the global understanding of TOD.

  • High growth and increasing traffic and transport finished vehicles, a significant impact on how organize the flow of parts to auto makers an dagencies have As a result, the automakers to improve its position as a highly responsive, with minimal costs, the out sourcing of their logistics processes. This paperis the result of field research to determine the effectiveness of the logistics industry in Iran and focuses on information technology deals the transport vehicle and parts sales deals, indicators used in the model include: IT focuses, IT Valence, IT Competency, IT Managerial Commitment, IT Resource Commitment and competitive advantage identified. Data collected by questionnaires from managers and experts have been towing companies ISACO and SAIPA trailer hypotheses using structural equation methods and software has been analyzed Amos, Results show, focusing on information technology now has significant impacts on logistics and transport. As a result the impact of, IT valence, IT competency and IT Managerial Commitment analytics to gain competitive advantage was not approved, but the rest of the factors were confirmed.

미국 이중임금제를 통해 본 노조 연대와 집단이기주의의 문제 (The Issues of Workers' Solidarity and Labor Collectivism in terms of the American Two-Tier Wage Systems)

  • 이중임금제는 특정 시점 이후 입사자 임금수준을 그 이전 입사자들의 임금수준보다 현저히 낮게 책정함으로써, 두 개의 임금지급방식이 존재하는 것을 의미한다. 이 이중임금제는 1980년대 정부의 탈규제선언과 이로 인해 경쟁이 격화되었던 미국 항공산업에서 확산된 바 있으며, 이후 소강상태를 보이다가 2007년 미국 자동차산업 Big Three(GM, Ford, FCA)와 전미자동차 노조(UAW)의 단체교섭에서 대대적으로 실행된 바 있다. 이중임금제는 인건비 절감 효과가 탁월하여, 빈사상태에 빠졌던 미국 자동차산업을 부활시킨 성공요인 중 하나로 손꼽힌다. 하지만, 이중임금제는 자신의 임금과 고용을 지키기 위한 기존 노조원들의 집단이기주의의 산물일 뿐만 아니라 입사도 하지 않은 잠재 신규인력에게 저임금이라는 차별을 부과하는 노사담합의 대표적인 예이다. 또한 노동조합의 전통적인 임금정책인 임금표준화정책으로부터의 명백한 이탈이며, 단일한 종업원 집단을 두 개의 임률이 각각 적용되는 종업원 집단으로 양분한다는 점에서 노동자 연대를 포기하는 정책이다. 이 논문은 노동조합 조직의 근본 목적과 정책에 반하는 이중임금제가 미국 노조들에 의해 왜, 그리고 어떻게 출현하게 되었는가에 주목한다. 그리고 우리나라 자동차산업 등에서 이중임금제를 포함한 노동자 연대의 약화, 노조내 집단 이기주의, 임금표준화정책의 후퇴 등이 발생할 가능성을 검토하고자 한다. 우리나라에서도 이중임금제의 초기형태인 대졸초임 삭감 등과 함께 정규직만의 임금 극대화 임금정책 추구와 임금표준화정책의 외면 등이 발생한 바 있다. 다양한 비정규직에 대한 정규직의 외면, 신규인력 채용을 둘러싼 노사간의 담합과 노조의 수뢰, 광주형 일자리 모델에 대한 금속노조의 반발 등의 현상 역시 이와 관련된 현상이다. 이러한 현상들은 결국 미국 자동차산업의 이중임금제가 미국만의 현상이 아니며, 우리나라 자동차산업에서도 동일하게 재현될 가능성이 높음을 뜻한다. 또한 우리나라 자동차산업에도 이중임금제로 대표되는 노사간의 담합과 노조 내 집단이기주의가 발생할 조건이 존재하고 있음을 의미한다. 이제 노동조합의 근본 목표에 대한 성찰과 이를 통한 전통적인 임금정책으로의 회귀가 필요한 시점이다.

머신러닝 기반 금속외관 결함 검출 비교 분석 (Comparative analysis of Machine-Learning Based Models for Metal Surface Defect Detection)

  • 최근 스마트팩토리와 인공지능 기술의 수요 증가로 인해 다양한 분야에서 인공지능 기술을 적용하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 결함 검사 분야에서도 인공지능 알고리즘을 도입하기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 특히, 금속 외관의 결함을 검출하는 연구는 다른 소재(목재, 플라스틱, 섬유 등)의 결함을 검출하는 연구에 비해 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 머신러닝 기법(서포터 벡터 머신(SVM: Support Vector Machine), 소프트맥스 회귀(Softmax Regression), 결정 트리(Decesion Tree))과 차원 축소 알고리즘(주성분 분석(PCA: Principal Component Analysis), 오토인코더(AutoEncoder))의 9가지 조합과 2가지 합성곱신경망(CNN: Convolutional Neural Network) 기법(자체 알고리즘, ResNet)의 금속 외관의 결함 분류 성능 및 속도를 비교하고 분석하는 연구를 수행하고자 한다. 두 종류의 학습 데이터셋((i) 공용 데이터셋(Public Dataset), (ii) 실측 데이터셋(Actual Dataset))에 대한 실험을 통해 각 데이터셋에 대한 성능 및 속도를 비교 분석하고, 가장 효율적인 알고리즘을 찾아낸다.
