  • If we can supply accurate minute flow rate to the households, we can solve many problems that are occurring in consequences of uncontrolled flow rate for the households. Therefore, this paper presents an innovative solution to the source of the problems by illustrating how we can control the flow rate to the household. This paper proves such problems even can be solved in a case when there is a room turned off the heating.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator.   • Usually, fluid or fuel supply device need space to need special sensor to control motor, attaches with ancillary equipment to attach sensor. Also, difficult point follows need signal line and other circuit etc. In this paper, used that proposed control system that use hall sensor to solve discomfort and problem and difference control principle of system happens in current flow according to motor action step. Also, could reduce breakdown by sensor establishment, reduce material costs and personnel expenses as well as control system superior. Auto-pumping system sees that will can apply, develop several kind of device that use system hereafter to all fluid supply systems through soft-ware adaptation.

  • Cryogenic systems are requirement for the operation of HTS power cables. In general, HTS power cables require temperature below 77K, a temperature that can be achieved from the liquid nitrogen at latm or sub-cooled LN2 above latm. HTS power cable needs sufficient refrigeration to overcome its low temperature heat loading. This loading typically cones in two forms : (1) heat leaks from the surroundings and (2) internal heat generation. This paper explains the cooling test system of 10m HTS power cable. This system is composed of storage dewar, auto fill system, core cryostat and cold-box. Storage dewar is a LN2 storage tank and auto fill system is a LN2 supply device to the sub-cooler, Core cryostat is a LN2 flow line. Cold box is a control unit of temperature and flow rate. It is composed of control valve, flow meter, sub-cooler and circulation pump, etc..

Design of an adaptive backstepping controller for auto-berthing a cruise ship under wind loads

  • The auto-berthing of a ship requires excellent control for safe accomplishment. Crabbing, which is the pure sway motion of a ship without surge velocity, can be used for this purpose. Crabbing is induced by a peculiar operation procedure known as the push-pull mode. When a ship is in the push-pull mode, an interacting force is induced by complex turbulent flow around the ship generated by the propellers and side thrusters. In this paper, three degrees of freedom equations of the motions of crabbing are derived. The equations are used to apply the adaptive backstepping control method to the auto-berthing controller of a cruise ship. The controller is capable of handling the system non-linearity and uncertainty of the berthing process. A control allocation algorithm for a ship equipped with two propellers and two side thrusters is also developed, the performance of which is validated by simulation of auto-berthing.

  • Optimal engine control is needed to cope with the global environmental regulations that are globally enforced. For optimum engine control, the electronic throttle control system (ETCS) is a prerequisite. Automotive makers are having an effect on reducing emissions and improving fuel economy by applying ETCS which is designed to secure stability. The ETCS controls the output of the throttle valve by passing the output value of the accelerator position sensor (APS) to the engine control unit (ECU). In this study, the authors investigated the safety standards of domestic and overseas accelerator control system and tried to understand how the air flow control affects the engine output by replacing the throttle. The authors suggest an improvement proposal of safety standard based on the result of driving evaluation by various modes.

Unsteady Flow Model Including a Dam Operation Rule for Flood Control as Internal Boundary Condition (홍수시 댐 운영방안을 내부 경계조건으로 포함하는 부정류 계산모형)

  • An unsteady flow model for channel network including various internal boundaries if developed. It is a multiply-connected network model based on the Preissmann's four-point scheme and the Newton-Raphson method, where looped double-sweep algorithm is used. The model is capable of simulating flow through hydraulic structures such as dams and submerged weirs. It can also simulate automatic reservoir operation method (Auto ROM) for flood control, that is to maintain a target water level, by incorporating the strategy to the unsteady flow model as internal boundary condition. The model is applied to the Han River system that includes the downstream reaches of Choongju dam and Hwacheon dam as well as the downstream reach of the Paldang dam. Roughness coefficient for the downstream reach of Choongju dam is estimated. Automatic ROM is presumed for the Paldang, Chungpyung, Euiam, and Choonchun dams. The model is tested using historical flood records, and the flood control strategy is successfully simulated.

  • This paper Describe a modelling method for SCR(selective Catalytic reduction) system in refuse incineration plant. We consider the SCR system as a single input single output system. For modelling the SCR system, an auto regressive exogeneous(ARX) modelling method is used. In this case, we should design the white noise input for modelling and put it on the system as an input (.NH/sap2/.), and taken an outlet NOx as an output. From these two relations, we design the ARX model with 45 second delay time and transform to discrete system with 0.5 sampling time. Using the obtained SCR model, we simulate the SCR system to reduce the outlet NOx content by a conventional PID control method.

Auto Tuning of Position Controller for Proportional Flow Control Solenoid Valve (비례유량제어밸브 위치제어기 자동조정)

  • Proportional solenoid valves are a modulating type that can control the displacement of valves continuously by means of electromagnetic forces proportional to the solenoid coil current. Because the solenoid-type modulating valves have the advantages of fast response and compact design over air-operated or motor-operated valves, they have been gaining acceptance in chemical and power plants to control the flow of fluids such as water, steam, and gas. This paper deals with the auto tuning of the position controller that can provide the proportional and integral gain automatically based on the dynamic system identification. The process characteristics of the solenoid valve are estimated with critical gain and critical period at a stability limit based on implemented relay feedback, and the controller parameters are determined by the classical Ziegler-Nichols design method. The auto-tuning algorithm was verified with experiments, and the effects of the operating point at which the relay control is activated as well as the relay amplitude were investigated.

Feedback Flow Control Using Artificial Neural Network for Pressure Drag Reduction on the NACA0015 Airfoil (NACA0015 익형의 압력항력 감소를 위한 인공신경망 기반의 피드백 유동 제어)

  • Feedback flow control using an artificial neural network was numerically investigated for NACA0015 Airfoil to suppress flow separation on an airfoil. In order to achieve goal of flow control which is aimed to reduce the size of separation on the airfoil, Blowing&Suction actuator was implemented near the separation point. In the system modeling step, the proper orthogonal decomposition was applied to the pressure field. Then, some POD modes that are necessary for flow control are extracted to analyze the unsteady characteristics. NARX neural network based on decomposed modes are trained to represent the flow dynamics and finally operated in the feedback control loop. Predicted control signal was numerically applied on CFD simulation so that control effect was analyzed through comparing the characteristic of aerodynamic force and spatial modes depending on the presence of the control. The feedback control showed effectiveness in pressure drag reduction up to 29%. Numerical results confirm that the effect is due to dramatic pressure recovery around the trailing edge of the airfoil.
