Elasto-plastic time history analysis of an asymmetrical twin-tower rigid-connected structure

  • The structure analyzed in this paper has particular building style and special structural system. It is a rigid-connected twin-tower skyscraper with asymmetrical distribution of stiffness and masses in two towers. Because of the different stiffness between the north and the south towers, the torsion seismic vibration is significant. In this paper, in order to study the seismic response of the structure under both frequent low-intensity earthquakes as well as rare earthquakes at the levels of intensity 7, the analysis model is built and analyzed with NosaCAD. NosaCAD is an nonlinear structure analysis software based on second-development of AutoCAD with ObjectARX. It has convenient modeling function, high computational efficiency and diversity post-processing functions. The deformations, forces and damages of the structure are investigated based on the analysis. According to the analysis, there is no damage on the structure under frequent earthquakes, and the structure has sufficient capacity and ductility to resist rare earthquakes. Therefore the structure can reach the goal of no damage under frequent earthquakes and no collapse under rare earthquakes. The deformation of the structure is below the limit in Chinese code. The time sequence and distribution of damages on tubes are reasonable, which can dissipate some dynamic energy. At last, according to forces, load-carrying capacity and damage of elements, there are some suggestions on increasing the reinforcement in the core tube at base and in stiffened stories.

The Effects of Discrepancy in Reconstruction Algorithm between Patient Data and Normal Database in AutoQuant Evaluation: Focusing on Half-Time Scan Algorithm in Myocardial SPECT (심근 관류 스펙트에서 Half-Time Scan과 새로운 재구성법이 적용된 정상군 데이터를 기반으로 한 정량적 분석 결과의 차이 비교)

  • Purpose: The new reconstruction algorithms (NRA) provided by vendor aim to shorten the acquisition scan time. Whereas depending on the installed version AutoQuant program used for myocardial SPECT quantitative analysis did not contain the normal data that NRA is applied. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to compare the results according to AutoQuant versions in myocardial SPECT applied NRA and half-time scan (HT). Materials and Methods: Rest Tl and stress MIBI data of total 80 (40 men, 40 women) patients were gathered. Data were applied HT acquisition and ASTONISH (Philips) software which is NRA. Modified autoquant of SNUH and old version of AutoQuant (full-time scan) provided by company were compared. Comparison groups were classified as coronary artery disease (CAD), 24 hrs delay and almost normal patients who have a simple pain patient. Perfusion distribution aspect, summed stress score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS), extent and total perfusion deficit (TPD) of each 25 patient who have above diseases were compared and evaluated. Results: The case of CAD, when using re-edited AutoQuant (HT) SSS and SRS showed about 30% reduction (P<0.0001), Extent showed about 38% reduction and TPD showed about 30% reduction in the tendency (P<0.0001). In the score of the perfusion, especially on the part of infero-medium, infero-apical, lateral-medium and lateral-apical regions were the biggest change. The case of the 24 hrs delay patient SRS (P=0.042), Extent (P=0.018) and TPD (P=0.0024) showed about 13-18% reduction. And the case of simple pain patient, comparison of 4 results showed about 5-7% reduction. Conclusion: This study was started based on expectation that results could be affected by normal patient data. Normal patient data is possible to change by race and gender. It was proved that combination of new reconstruction algorithm for reducing scan time and analysis program according to scan protocol with NRA could also be affected to results. Clinical usefulness of gated myocardial SPECT is possibly increased if each hospital properly collects normal patient data for their scan acquisition protocol.

Body Shape Variations Measurements with 3D Scanner for Wearing Foundation (3D Scanner를 이용한 foundation 착용시의 인체 변화 계측)

  • This study was carried out to analyse body configuration and to observe any space between skin and foundation. A special 3D scanner was used to analyze this foundation. Experimental foundations were brassiere, girdle, and all-in-one. Four subjects volunteered, each subject was scanned while wearing foundation and not wearing foundation. Body shape variations were analyzed with an Auto CAD and ScanWax program which analyzes cross section of the skin surface to look for any changes. Height was increased all parts of body, circumference was increased in breast and bust while wearing the foundation. The hip thickness was not increased with wearing the foundation. Therefore this foundation makes people have a different appearance due to unexpected body shape variations. The effects of this foundation should be classified by observing height, circumference, and thickness changes in the body.

  • As customers demands are rapidly changing, a product life cycle is getting shorter and a product model is forced to be changed frequently. An ejecting design system becomes more important for high productivity to eject a product in high temperature without any damage. For example, an ejector pin that is a key component of the system can cause high local stresses and strains in the molding at the time of ejection. The number, the size, and the location of pins are important to make a smooth ejection. Therefore we propose an analytical approach with the aid of designer’s experience to calculate a total release force and pressure distribution so that the number, the size, and the location of pins can be easily determined. As a part of the result, the design system is built by Intent! with AutoCAD 2000 and a video player deck example is presented to verify the approach.

A Study on Left and Right Shape and Deformation of Feet of Korean Adults (한국 성인 발 형태의 좌우 및 변형 연구)

  • An analysis of anthropometric data of feet of Korean adults was made in this study. Anthropometric data were measured with the direct measurement method and indirect measurement method. Martin scales and a tapeline were used for direct measurement. Digital images taken with a digital camera as an indirect measurement method were analyzed using AutoCAD program. Total 114 adults aged from 20's to 40's participated in this study. Especially right and left feet were measured. Right and left side were compared and differences according to age were compared too. Feet shape, arch height, and deformation of toe were analyzed. The comparison between right and left foot showed that many subjects had different anthropometric data in their feet. Feet deformation including arch height and claw toe shape showed very serious status. Close and continuous attention to feet deformation is strongly needed.

  • The inner and outer car panels for bonnet, door, and trunk lid are assembled by hemming rather than welding. To achieve successful fabrication of these panels, the complicated timing chart of hemming units for pre-and main hemming stages should be made to optimal one. In this study, a design system for automatic timing chart generation is developed. Using AutoCAD VBA and EXCEL data chart, hemming die design parameters and guidelines were put into the program to give hemming unit drawings and consequent timing charts. Then the prepared timing charts were checked and modified. The effectiveness of the system is verified by applying it successfully to hemming unit design for bonnet panel joining.

  • Nowadays the widely used media in architecture include visualizations, animations and three-dimensional models. An optimized 3D digital method using active CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) imaging is developed for accurate shape and 3D measurements in freeform buildings in this paper. In contrast to a conventional building using auto CAD system and others, the proposed active digital optimization is based on a combination of 3D numerical data and parametric 3D model. The objective of this paper is therefore to present digital optimization method for constructability of freeform building. The 3D digital optimization method is appropriate to serious variations in freeform shape. The developed digital optimization method is necessary to be carried out to verify the robustness and accuracy for constructability.

  • Die desig for manufacturing hooks from steel wires has been depended on empirical procedures based on trial and error method. To design die, at first the curvature and bending angle of hook are computed by using AutoCAD and developed program which is composed of Visual Basic. Then spring back should be considered because the elastic recovery of material is very important in bending process. In this study, bending analysis of elastic-plastic materials is applied to predict curvature of hook and spring back. Therefore, systematic procedure of die design for bending hook is achieved to consider elastic recovery in terms of hook shapes. Experimental results are good agreement with calculated results.

  • This study is the selection of optimum forming condition for RP system using ADS. Program using ADS reduces the required time for feedback between design and manufacturing of workpiece. When we produce rapid prototype using RP system, we investigate the relationship between Facetres in system variable number of AutoCAD and roundness of rapid prototype, and we will find optimum forming condition in RP system.

  • The die casting process was used to manufacture a alternator housing for automobile. Specially automobile parts were required light and hight strength. Therefore simulation have been carried out die casting process of the alternator housing. In this paper, we investigated about characteristics of the die casted alternator housing the HPDC(High Pressure Die Casting) process. Also we designed the die casting die with the simulation results of the alternator housing. The MAGMAsoft and Auto-CAD was used as computer simulation and design code and used material was ADC12(Aluminum Die Casting Alloy). We present the results of filling behavior and design of die process of the alternator housing cast. The result obtained about filling behavior and design of die of the cast showed good agreement with test result.
