In this paper we introduce augmented broadcasting service scenarios which combines augmented reality service with broadcasting environment. As the broadcasting environment is different from mobile service environment, there are many restrictions in developing full AR services in TV. However TV has strong benefit of large screen, high quality contents, advanced user interface for motion and voice, and smart TV applications, which means that they will enhance the possibility of success for augmented broadcasting service. This paper proposes metadata structure containing information for augmentation region, time, augmented contents, and registration information for natural composition. We also implemented test bed system comprised of authoring server, broadcasting server, and user terminal for verifying metadata in broadcasting system.

Recently, with the popularization of smartphones, augmented reality has become even more familiar to the public as an application that can provide realistic images as a tool for location-based services. Therefore, as a location-based application for smartphones that is appropriate for the application of augmented reality technology, the study develops a golf information system. Golf is the sport for which we should exactly know the accurate shape or distance to the destinations or obstacles, so the sport is suitable for applying the augmented reality technology. Even though the sport of golf has constantly increasing population to play it with the popularization of it, presently released golf-related smartphone apps are established as 2D images or in GPS basis; thus, they lack a sense of realism unfortunately. Thereupon, this study develops a golf information system by modifying and complementing usefully Mixare, the open source for augmented reality, for the sport of golf into an augmented reality-based system that can provide various information according to the actual environment of the golf course and describes how to apply it actually to the golf course.

This study aims to suggest a methodology for developing the AR-4D CAD system which can improve construction progress control process by using augmented reality(AR) technology for civil engineering project. This study reviews practical application of AR process in 4D CAB system and suggests the detailed requirements, information flow system and integrated interface function for developing AR-4D CAD system. Through these methods, this research classifies main functions of AR-4D CAD system that can visualize construction progress control data, and suggests an operation scenarios of the system.

Ubiquitous computing is a vision of our future computing lifestyle in which computer systems seamlessly integrate into our everyday lives, providing services and information in anywhere and anytime fashion. Augmented reality (AR) can naturally complement ubiquitous computing by providing an intuitive and collaborative visualization and simulation interface to a three-dimensional information space embedded within physical reality. This paper presents a service framework and its applications for providing context-aware u-car maintenance services using augmented reality, which can support a rich set of ubiquitous services and collaboration. It realizes bi-augmentation between physical and virtual spaces using augmented reality. It also offers a context processing module to acquire, interpret and disseminate context information. In particular, the context processing module considers user's preferences and security profile for providing private and customer-oriented services. The prototype system has been implemented to support 3D animation, TTS (Text-to-Speech), augmented manual, annotation, and pre- and post-augmentation services in ubiquitous car service environments.
As the applications and services based on the augmented reality are widely spread in various industry and public domain information dissemination areas, it is naturally necessary to provide the common information framework which can describe required detailed information for services. JPSearch which is released for unified access to image repositories can be utilized in this kind of infrastructure due to that the framework for augmented reality needs a constituent component which supports image repositories. In this paper, we propose a metadata schema which is designed for information architectural framework in the environment of augmented reality based on workflow. The proposed information schema can support the workflow of augmented reality related production system and service implementation.

In this paper, a multi-input multi-output(MIMO) integral variable structure system with an integral-augmented sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of uncertain multivariable system under the matched persistent disturbance. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, the integral augmented sliding surface is proposed. Then for its design, the eigenstructure assignment technique is introduced to. To guarantee the designed performance against the persistent disturbance, the stabilizing control for multi-input system is also designed to generate the sliding mode on the integral sliding surface. The stability of the global system together with the existence condition of the sliding mode are investigated and proved for the case of multi input system in the presence of uncertainty and disturbance. The reaching phase is completely removed in proposed MIMO VSS by satisfying the two requirements. An example and computer simulations will be present for showing the usefulness of algorithm.
Advancements in mobile phone hardware and network connectivity made communication becoming more and more convenient. Compared to pictures or texts, people prefer to share videos to convey information. For intentions clearer, the way to annotating comments directly on the video are quite important issues. Recently there have been many attempts to make annotations on video. These previous works have many limitations that do not support user-defined handwritten annotations or annotating on local video. In this sense, we propose an augmented reality based real-time video annotation system which allowed users to make any annotations directly on the video freely. The contribution of this work is the development of a real-time video annotation system based on recent augmented reality platforms that not only enables annotating drawing geometry shape on video in real-time but also drastically reduces the production costs. For practical use, we proposed a real-time collaboration system based on the proposed annotation method. Experimental results show that the proposed annotation method meets the requirements of real-time, accuracy and robustness of the collaboration system.
Although unmanned aerial vehicles have been used to overcome the limited accessibility of human-based visual inspection, unresolved issues still remain. Onsite inspectors face difficulty finding previously detected damage locations and tracking their status onsite. For example, an inspector still marks the damage location on a target structure with chalk or drawings while comparing the current status of existing damages to their previous status, as documented onsite. In this study, an augmented-reality-based structural inspection system with onsite damage information marking was developed to enhance the convenience of inspectors. The developed system detects structural damage, creates a holographic marker with damage information on the actual physical damage, and displays the marker onsite via an augmented reality headset. Because inspectors can view a marker with damage information in real time on the display, they can easily identify where the previous damage has occurred and whether the size of the damage is increasing. The performance of the developed system was validated through a field test, demonstrating that the system can enhance convenience by accelerating the inspector's essential tasks such as detecting damages, measuring their size, manually recording their information, and locating previous damages.

In this paper, we preset a method for the development of u-GIS outdoor augmented reality(AR) system. The proposed system is consist of three parts. First, sensor acquisition and calibration for AR, Second, camera and sensor based tracking for AR, Third, integration of sensor information and 3D models. We combine spatial information of real and virtual spaces through u-GIS AR system.
In recent years, augmented reality (AR) technologies have been the subject of great interest among many communities. In education applications, old-fashioned materials (or textbooks) are still used, despite remarkable AR developments in the industrial area. We present an AR system for education. Our system consists of an authoring tool that can be used to create educational content, a viewer that plays that content, and an engine to manage the tool and viewer. In our system, a marker unit recognizes a marker printed on a plane or a cubic plane by adaptively adjusting the threshold to have an excellent recognition rate in diverse environments and acquires corresponding data of the marker. Based on the system, we test 142 elementary school students for increased educational benefits using our system.
