"Does Emotional Intelligence Impact Technology Adoption?" : A study on Adoption of Augmented Reality

  • The study makes several contributions to not only the adoption literature by examining the influence of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Big-Five traits on adoption of Augmented Reality (AR) but also given its utility in both industry and research, it contributes to the interesting inter-disciplinary domain of psychology, information systems, and human behaviour. A quantitative based approach using a sample of 275 respondents was undertaken. It is found that emotional intelligence influence both perceived ease-of-use and perceived usefulness. They in turn influence intention to use. Another important observation is that personality traits (openness and agreeableness) have a significant moderating effect on the relation between attitude and intention to use AR. This research will help academicians and executives working on the adoption of AR in various sectors ranging from retail industry to the education sector. The originality of this study is that it explores the impact of EI on the acceptance of AR and helps in extending the literature in interdisciplinary research.

  • Augmented Reality(AR) assists human's cognitive ability through the information visualization by substantiating information about virtual situation. This technology is studied in a variety of ways including education, design, industry, and so on, by various supply of information devices equipped with cameras and display monitors. Since the most of the AR system depends on limited interaction that responds to the order from user, it can not reflect diverse real world situation. In this study, we suggest a knowledge based augmented reality system, which is composed of context awareness agent that provides recognized context information, along with knowledge based component that provides intelligent capability by utilizing domain knowledges. With this capability, the augmented object can generate dynamic model intelligently by reflecting context information, and can make the interaction possible among the multiple objects. We developed rule based context awareness system along with 3D model generation, and tested interaction among the augmented objects. And we suggest a framework that can provide a convenient way of developing augmented reality system for user.

  • With the development of computer technology, augmented reality (Augmented Reality, AR) technology in the future, one of the main directions of development of human interface technology is emerging. On augmented reality based on the design and implementation of a digital business card system. In this paper, a Smartphone is simply information through recognizable digital business card contains information about the system. Digital business card system is compared to the way existing hardware in a way visually-based high precision. In addition, registered as a 3D computer vision of augmented reality technology skills and real-world situations convergence technology for research. Future research, 3D electronic map for Smartphone apps as of the application user interface on the side for research is needed.

  • In order to investigate the immunostimulating effect of mycelia extract of Phellinus linteus (PLM) on human monocyte THP-1 and rat peritoneal macrophage cell, we examined measuring cytokine secretion (IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$). The production of IL-6 and TNF-a in human monocyte THP-1 was slight increased dose-dependently when the cells were challenged with PLM for 72 hrs. It was also observed that the treatment of PLM with LPS augmented the production of IL-6 and TNF-a in human monocyte THP-1. It was also observed that the treatment of PLM with LPS augmented the production of IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ in human monocyte THP-1. The production of IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ in rat peritoneal macrophage was significantly enhanced when the cells were treated PLM with LPS for 72 hrs. Moreover, the proliferation rate of rat spleen cells was increased in a dose dependent manner as the cells were treated with PLM and Concanavalin A.

Augmented Presentation Framework Design and System Implementation for Immersive Information Visualization and Delivery (몰입적 정보 표현과 전달을 위한 증강 프레젠테이션 디자인 및 시스템 구현)

  • Interactive intervention of the human presenter is one of the important factors that make the visualization more effective. Rather than just showing the content, the presenter enhances the process of the information delivery by providing the context of visualization. In this paper, we define this as an augmented presentation. In augmented presentation concept, the presenter can facilitate presentation more actively by being fully immersed in the visualization space and reaching and interacting into digital information. In order to concrete the concept, we design presentation space that enables the presenter to be seamlessly immersed in the visualization. Also we increase the presenter's roles as a storyteller, controller and augmenter allowing the presenter to fully support communicative process between the audience and the visualization. Then, we present an augmented presentation system to verify the proposed concept. We rendered 3D visualization through a half-mirror film and a wall projection screen that are place in parallel and applied with stereoscopic images, then, spatially align the presenter inside the virtual visualization space. After that, we conduct a controlled experiment to investigate the subjective level of immersion and engagement of the audience to HoloStation compared to traditional presentation system. Our initial investigation suggests that the newly conceived augmented presentation has potential not only to enhance the information presentation but also to supports the delivery of visualization.

  • Due to economical or technological reasons. humans are responsible for inspection functions in many cases. Humans. however. are rarely perfect. thus allowing non-confirming parts to be processed. As the attributes of interest or the variety of products increases. the inspection system becomes less effective because of the sensory and cognitive limitations of human inspectors. Any means that can support or aid the human inspectors is necessary to compensate for inspection difficulty. Augmented reality (AR) offers a new approach in designing an inspection system as a means to augment the cognitive capability of inspectors by providing the 3D spatial proximity between two information channels. The experimental results suggest that AR might be an effective tool that reduces inspection time without sacrificing the measuring accuracy.

  • 검색 증강형 언어 모델은 입력과 연관된 문서들을 검색하고 텍스트 생성 과정에 통합하여 언어 모델의 생성 능력을 강화한다. 본 논문에서는 사전 학습된 대규모 언어 모델의 추가적인 학습 없이 In-Context 검색 증강으로 한국어 언어 모델의 생성 능력을 강화하고 기존 언어 모델 대비 성능이 증가함을 보인다. 특히 다양한 크기의 사전 학습된 언어 모델을 활용하여 검색 증강 결과를 보여 모든 규모의 사전 학습 모델에서 Perplexity가 크게 개선된 결과를 확인하였다. 또한 오픈 도메인 질의응답(Open-Domain Question Answering) 과업에서도 EM-19, F1-27.8 향상된 결과를 보여 In-Context 검색 증강형 언어 모델의 성능을 입증한다.

A Study on Marker-based Detection Method of Object Position using Perspective Projection

  • With the mark of the fourth industrial revolution, the smart factory is evolving into a new future manufacturing plant. As a human-machine-interactive tool, augmented reality (AR) helps workers acquire the proficiency needed in smart factories. The valuable data displayed on the AR device must be delivered intuitively to users. Current AR applications used in smart factories lack user movement calibration, and visual fiducial markers for position correction are detected only nearby. This paper demonstrates a marker-based object detection using perspective projection to adjust augmented content while maintaining the user's original perspective with displacement. A new angle, location, and scaling values for the AR content can be calculated by comparing equivalent marker positions in two images. Two experiments were conducted to verify the implementation of the algorithm and its practicality in the smart factory. The markers were well-detected in both experiments, and the applicability in smart factories was verified by presenting appropriate displacement values for AR contents according to various movements.

  • In the current world, with the massive scale of SOC construction, it is difficult to diagnose and check all of a bridge's abnormal states with even the experts' eyes for maintenance. It is because we should spend huge costs and time on maintenance. Still, there are not many alternative ways to inspect bridges remotely regarding accuracy or reality. Therefore, we remark on the advantages and disadvantages of previous methods through practices in SOC maintenance. To inspect the abnormal state of the Bridge, we suggest inspecting bridges with an Augmented Reality (AR) mechanism to reduce cost, human resource consumption, and the risk of work. Through the proposed approach, we expect that it provides ways to solve massive construction problems with software-based technologies.

  • Safety is paramount for construction industry throughout the world. Human errors which contribute to more than half of construction accidents, could be proactively prevented through effective education and training methods. Although Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) have gained much attention in various disciplines, few studies applied them for construction safety education. This research presents a new approach in construction safety education by utilizing VR and AR. The vision of aligning teaching & learning strategies is examined in order to ensure the potential benefits of the new method. This innovative approach shifts safety education from "Listen, and I will forget. See, and I may remember" towards "Practice, and I understand".
