본 논문은 갈수록 그 중요성이 높아져가는 영상 아카이브 연구의 시론적 성격을 가지며, 일차적으로 영상 아카이브의 역사적 맥락을 고찰하는 것이 주요 목적이다. 이를 위해 우선 영상 아카이브의 바탕이 되는 영상 개념의 역사적 흐름을 검토하며 영상 아카이브 개념을 살펴볼 것이다. 그런 다음, 기록물로서의 영상 아카이브 그리고 장소와 기관으로서의 영상 아카이브를 다루면서 기존 종이문서 위주의 타 아카이브들(수집/보존/활용 등), 즉 공공기록보존소, 도서관, 박물관과 차별되는 영상 아카이브의 특이성들을 드러낼 것이다. 마지막으로 오늘날 디지털 시대의 영상 아카이브의 쟁점 중 디지털 포맷 및 복원 문제를 한정적으로 살펴볼 것이다. 이를 통해 본 논문은 향후 국내에서 정책적인 실천적 차원에서 설립되어야 할 다양한 영상 아카이브와 아직 걸음마 단계인 영상 아카이브 연구 활성화에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

본 논문에서는 '유튜브' 등을 비롯한 온라인동영상 플랫폼 활용이 일반화되고 고화질·고용량 시청각 기록의 생산·수집량이 급증하는 상황에서도 공공·민간 부문 모두에서 시청각 기록의 '관리'와 '활용'은 여전히 전문화되고 있지 않은 상황에 주목하였다. 공공기관이나 방송사, 일반 기업이나 단체 등 시청각 기록을 생산하는 주체들이 기본적으로 참고할만한 '시청각 기록관리 매뉴얼' 등이 부재할 뿐만 아니라 현행 『공공기록물법』 및 동법 시행령·시행규칙, 공공표준, 지침 및 매뉴얼 등 공공기록관리에서조차 시청각 기록관리의 원칙을 제시하지 못한 가운데 중앙기록물관리기관인 '국가기록원'의 역할이 매우 중요한 점을 강조하고자 했다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 현행 『공공기록물법』의 시청각 기록 관련 조항을 분석하고 제·개정 필요성을 살펴보았다. 또한, 현재 국가기록원의 시청각 기록 표준화 현황을 검토하고 공공기록관리 부문에서 효율적인 시청각 기록관리를 위해 제도적으로 마련한 제도와 지침을 분석하여, 기록관리 현장에서 해당 제도 및 지침들이 시청각 기록을 관리하는 데 어떤 기능을 하고 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 현행 국내 법·제도 개선의 필요성, 관련 공공표준 및 지침 내용 개정 방향 등을 제시하였으며, '국가기록원' 등의 시청각 기록관리 정책 기능을 활성화하는 방안과 시청각 기록관리 및 관련 정책을 담당한 전문기구인 '공공영상'아카이브 신설 필요성 또한 검토하였다. '공공영상'아카이브는 영상납본제 등을 통한 체계적이고 망라적으로 '공공영상'을 수집하고 이를 사회적 기억으로서 공적 활용될 수 있도록 관리·활용 체계를 운영한다. 이 과정에서 '공공영상' 보호(Safeguarding)와 관련한 기술 표준화, 저작권 및 초상권 권리보호 등 시청각 기록관리와 관련한 전문적 역할을 수행한다.

Analyzing various works of Nam June Paik who pioneered the world of video art, we can find a number of audiovisual art pieces - in a broad sense - with the characteristics of "intermedia" that are not clearly identified as one genre. Especially, his career as a musician becomes an important clue for us to discuss the unique originality found in Paik's works. Nevertheless, examples of research that specifically explore how Paik's musicality is reflected in his artistry and could be deeply understood is still rare. This article examines Paik's audiovisual art world, and reviews how his musicality is expressed through the characteristics of media and form, as well as contributed to the ultimate technical and aesthetic realizations of his pieces from the perspective of musical synesthesia. The fact that Paik expanded the concept of music through technology, and fused different media to visualize music, is an important achievement in the context of aesthetic, synesthetic music in the field of audiovisual art.

Recent advances in deep learning for speech and visual recognition have accelerated the development of multimodal speech recognition, yielding many innovative results. We introduce a Korean audiovisual speech recognition corpus. This dataset comprises approximately 150 h of manually transcribed and annotated audiovisual data supplemented with additional 2000 h of untranscribed videos collected from YouTube under the Creative Commons License. The dataset is intended to be freely accessible for unrestricted research purposes. Along with the corpus, we propose an open-source framework for automatic speech recognition (ASR) and audiovisual speech recognition (AVSR). We validate the effectiveness of the corpus with evaluations using state-of-the-art ASR and AVSR techniques, capitalizing on both pretrained models and fine-tuning processes. After fine-tuning, ASR and AVSR achieve character error rates of 11.1% and 18.9%, respectively. This error difference highlights the need for improvement in AVSR techniques. We expect that our corpus will be an instrumental resource to support improvements in AVSR.

커뮤니케이션 언어로서 텍스트보다 사진, 이미지, 영상 등 비(非)텍스트 기록의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 이에 따라 국내 기록관리 유관 기관과 전문가들 또한 이미지 기록의 특수성에 적합한 기록관리 체계 마련의 필요성에 공감하고 있다. 이 글은 2018 국제 영상기록 관리연수(INA Frame)에 참가한 경험을 토대로 국내 영상기록관리 체계 마련을 위해 고민해야 할 지점들을 정리한 글이다. 특히 국가적 차원에서 관리해야 할 대상을 단순한 영화, 방송, 문화콘텐츠 등을 포괄하는 다양한 유형의 콘텐츠에서 더 나아가 '공공영상문화유산'의 개념정립의 필요성에 대해 역설하였다. 또한, 관련 제도 인프라 정비, 기관 또는 거버넌스 설계 등과 같은 '기반구축'에 해당하는 여러 과제들을 검토하여 이 선결과제들이 향후 국내에서 안정적인 '공공영상문화유산' 관리체계 마련으로 이어져야 함을 강조한다.

방송·영상은 일상생활에서 가장 쉽게 접할 수 있는 영상으로 시대를 기록하며 미디어를 통해 공유된다. 해외에서는 이미 법제적 장치하에 독립적인 방송·영상 아카이브가 운영되고 있다. 국내 방송·영상 산업이 계속해서 크기를 키워나가고 있고 세계적으로 주목받는 현재, 공공 방송·영상 아카이브의 설립 및 운영은 보다 구체적으로 논의될 필요가 있다. 특히 법제적 장치는 공공 방송·영상 아카이브 설립을 위한 기반으로써 선결되어야 하는 과제임이 분명하다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 우선 2000년대 운영되었던 디지털아카이브센터를 살펴보았다. 그리고 디지털아카이브센터가 해체된 원인을 법제적 장치의 부재로 보고, 오래전부터 법적 근거에 따라 운영되고 있는 프랑스의 국립시청각기구(INA) 사례를 조사하였다. INA는 방송·영상 분야에 납본제도를 시행하는 대표적인 사례로써 여러 차례 선행연구를 통해 소개되었으나 이용자 서비스에 집중된 경향이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 INA의 운영을 뒷받침하는 법적 요소를 중심으로 분석하였다. 마지막으로 기존 연구에서 논의되었던 공공 방송·영상 아카이브를 실현하기 위해 국내 공공 방송·영상 아카이브의 설립을 위한 법제적 장치에 대해 제언하고자 했다.

Purpose: To compare audio-only biofeedback to conventional audiovisual biofeedback for regulating patients' respiration during four-dimensional radiotherapy, limiting damage to healthy surrounding tissues caused by organ movement. Materials and Methods: Six healthy volunteers were assisted by audiovisual or audio-only biofeedback systems to regulate their respirations. Volunteers breathed through a mask developed for this study by following computer-generated guiding curves displayed on a screen, combined with instructional sounds. They then performed breathing following instructional sounds only. The guiding signals and the volunteers' respiratory signals were logged at 20 samples per second. Results: The standard deviations between the guiding and respiratory curves for the audiovisual and audio-only biofeedback systems were 21.55% and 23.19%, respectively; the average correlation coefficients were 0.9778 and 0.9756, respectively. The regularities between audiovisual and audio-only biofeedback for six volunteers' respirations were same statistically from the paired t-test. Conclusion: The difference between the audiovisual and audio-only biofeedback methods was not significant. Audio-only biofeedback has many advantages, as patients do not require a mask and can quickly adapt to this method in the clinic.

는 음악과 영상의 결합을 주제로 하는 오디오비주얼아트 전시 시리즈이다. 2013년 첫 전시를 시작으로 총 5회에 걸쳐 개최되었으며, 오디오비주얼아트의 분야의 핵심 이슈인 공감각에 대한 탐구의 노력으로 '음악의 전시'라는 주제 아래 시각과 청각의 미디어를 융합한 작품을 선보여 왔다. 이러한 성과는 현대예술의 주요 주제인 복합감각 및 공감각의 개념을 선도적으로 제시한 사례라 할 수 있으며, 최근에는 기존 공감각의 영역과 차원을 확장하는 가능성을 모색하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전시 전체의 상세한 내용을 작품목록 및 사진과 함께 정리하여 상세히 소개하고, 작품 창작의 영감을 제공한 백남준의 오디오비주얼아트 작품 세계에서 발견되는 음악, 공감각, 공간의 맥락에서 해당 전시의 이론적 바탕과 창조적 영감을 고찰한다. 궁극적으로는 이러한 과정을 통하여 백남준의 작품 세계에서 확장되는 오디오비주얼아트 작품 제작과 분석의 비전 확립에 기여하고, 이를 향후 새로운 작품 창작의 디딤돌로 삼고자 한다.

Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of neck and shoulder self-stretching exercise using audiovisual media on neck pain, postural alignment, and joint position error in women with chronic neck pain. Methods: The subjects included 20 women that gave consent to participate in the study voluntarily. They performed the self-stretching exercises using audiovisual media was carried out 20 minutes 5 times a week during 3 weeks. Neck disability index (NDI) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were used to measure the functional disability and pain, A pressure pain threshold was measured using an algometer, and a cervical range of motion (CROM) measurement tool was used to measure the range of motion and error of proprioceptive position sense of the cervical spine. To assess posture alignment, forward head angle (FHA), forward shoulder angle (FSA) were measured using image J software. Results: The neck pain intensity was statistically significantly within group (p<.05). Neck and shoulder functional disability were a statistically significant difference within group (p<.05). Splenius capitis and upper trapezius pressure pain threshold were statistically significant difference in within group (p<.05). The postural alignment was statistically significantly within group (p<.05). The cervical range of motion in neck extension, right and left lateral flexion were statistically significantly within group (p<.05). The joint position error in neck flexion, extension, right and left lateral flexion decreased statistically significantly within group (p<.05). Conclusion: Self-stretching exercise using audiovisual media increased the mobility of the neck, decreased neck pain and joint position error, and improved posture alignment. As a result, there was a positive effect by applying the self-stretching exercise using audiovisual media to people with neck pain. Based on this, it is thought that it can be used as the basis for research related to home training programs for healthy self-management.

This study investigated whether native Korean listeners could use visual cues for the identification of the English consonants /b/ and /v/. Both auditory and audiovisual tokens of word minimal pairs in which the target phonemes were located in word-initial or word-medial position were used. Participants were instructed to decide which consonant they heard in $2{\times}2$ conditions: cue (audio-only, audiovisual) and location (word-initial, word-medial). Mean identification scores were significantly higher for audiovisual than audio-only condition and for word-initial than word-medial condition. Also, according to signal detection theory, sensitivity, d', and response bias, c were calculated based on both hit rates and false alarm rates. The measures showed that the higher identification rate in the audiovisual condition was related with an increase in sensitivity. There were no significant differences in response bias measures across conditions. This result suggests that native Korean speakers can use visual cues while identifying confusing non-native phonemic contrasts. Visual cues can enhance non-native speech perception.
