Thus, we analyzed the viewing motivation and satisfaction of Chinese viewers' Internet personal broadcasting of famous celebrities based on the uses and gratifications approach. To this end, an online survey was conducted, and as a result, 'emotional motivation' and 'functional motivation' were found as Chinese viewers' motivation for viewing Internet personal broadcasting of famous celebrities. In addition, it was found that viewers' satisfaction increased as the viewers' 'emotional viewing motivation' increased. From the results of this study, it seems that a strategy of subdividing programs by reflecting the audience characteristics such as age and occupation is needed. It can be a way to expand the number of viewers and the intended broadcasting effect by designing and producing programs for personalized celebrity internet broadcasting by segmenting audiences.

  • Recent advances in computer technologies support real-time image processing and special effects on personal computers. This paper presents and analyzes a real-time interactive video system. The motivation of this work is to realize an artistic concept that aims at transforming the timeline visual variations in a video of sea water waves into sound in order to provide an audience with an experience of overlapping themselves onto the nature. In practice, the video of sea water waves taken on a beach is processed using an optical flow algorithm in order to extract the information of visual variations between the video frames. This is then masked by the silhouette of an audience and the result is projected on a gallery space. The intensity information is extracted from the resulting video and translated into piano sounds accordingly. This work generates an interactive space realizing the intended concept.

  • This project addresses the product identification and design application of corrugated products for kinetic architectural applications. Initially, an architectural approach to product identification was carried out with the end goal of demonstrating application design principles of numerous novel architectural examples from the forest products industry. A design and prototyping stage followed demonstrating such application design principles and functional analysis on various novel architectural examples. The results of coupling product identification with proven application advantages will be of potential value not only to architecture but also to other designers in the arts and sciences. The general motivation for the research arises out of a growing interest corrugated and paper products to be ideally suited for various architectural applications for their unparallel environmental benefits. Applications in architecture that use fewer resources and that adapt efficiently to complex and changing conditions are particularly relevant for an industry (architecture) that is increasingly aware of its environmental responsibilities. Corrugated and paper products are highly under-utilized by the building industry as design choice material for both interior and exterior applications. An increased awareness of the benefits of corrugated and paper products coupled with a process of designing for the total use and reuse will prove to be a valuable means by which issues of energy efficiency and environmental quality of buildings could be enhanced to be more efficient, affordable, and therefore reach a broader audience of users.
