We evaluated the efficiencies of applying attribute selection methods and prior discretization to supervised learning, modelled by C4.5 and Naive Bayes. Three databases were obtained from UCI data archive, which consisted of continuous attributes except for one decision attribute. Four methods were used for attribute selection : MDI, ReliefF, Gain Ratio and Consistency-based method. MDI and ReliefF can be used for both continuous and discrete attributes, but the other two methods can be used only for discrete attributes. Discretization was performed using the Fayyad and Irani method. To investigate the effect of noise included in the database, noises were introduced into the data sets up to the extents of 10 or 20%, and then the data, including those either containing the noises or not, were processed through the steps of attribute selection, discretization and classification. The results of this study indicate that classification of the data based on selected attributes yields higher accuracy than in the case of classifying the full data set, and prior discretization does not lower the accuracy.

Accurate and versatile image data-sets are essential for fashion AI research and AI-based fashion businesses based on a systematic attribute classification system. This study constructs a color and texture attribute hierarchical classification system by collecting fashion item images and analyzing the metadata of fashion items described by consumers. Essential dimensions to explain color and texture attributes were extracted; in addition, attribute values for each dimension were constructed based on metadata and previous studies. This hierarchical classification system satisfies consistency, exclusiveness, inclusiveness, and flexibility. The image tagging to confirm the usefulness of the proposed classification system indicated that the contents of attributes of the same image differ depending on the annotator that require a clear standard for distinguishing differences between the properties. This classification system will improve the reliability of the training data for machine learning, by providing standardized criteria for tasks such as tagging and annotating of fashion items.
The main thrust of our talk will be based on our experience in developing and applying an attribute-based classification technique in the context of an operational answer set driven retrieval system. To alleviate the difficulty and reduce the cost of manually constructing and maintaining answer sets, i.e., knowledge base, we have devised a new method of automating the answer document selection process by using the notion of attribute-based classification, which is in and of itself novel. We attempt to explain through experiments how helpful the proposed method is for the knowledge base construction process.

In this study, We conduct a comparative study of deep learning-based classification of agricultural field attributes using Tagged Image File (TIF) and Enhanced Compression Wavelet (ECW) images. The goal is to interpret and classify the attributes of agricultural fields by analyzing the differences between these two image formats. "FarmMap," initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in 2014, serves as the first digital map of agricultural land in South Korea. It comprises attributes such as paddy, field, orchard, agricultural facility and ginseng cultivation areas. For the purpose of comparing deep learning-based agricultural attribute classification, we consider the location and class information of objects, as well as the attribute information of FarmMap. We utilize the ResNet-50 instance segmentation model, which is suitable for this task, to conduct simulated experiments. The comparison of agricultural attribute classification between the two images is measured in terms of accuracy. The experimental results indicate that the accuracy of TIF images is 90.44%, while that of ECW images is 91.72%. The ECW image model demonstrates approximately 1.28% higher accuracy. However, statistical validation, specifically Wilcoxon rank-sum tests, did not reveal a significant difference in accuracy between the two images.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a new group classification method based on genetic algorithm and to com-pare its prediction performance with those of existing methods in the area of bond rating. To serve this purpose, we conduct various experiments with pilot and general models. Specifically, we first conduct experiments employing two pilot models : the one searching for the cluster center of each group and the other one searching for both the cluster center and the attribute weights in order to maximize classification accuracy. The results from the pilot experiments show that the performance of the latter in terms of classification accuracy ratio is higher than that of the former which provides the rationale of searching for both the cluster center of each group and the attribute weights to improve classification accuracy. With this lesson in mind, we design two generalized models employing genetic algorithm : the one is to maximize the classification accuracy and the other one is to minimize the total misclassification cost. We compare the performance of these two models with those of existing statistical and artificial intelligent models such as MDA, ANN, and Decision Tree, and conclude that the genetic algorithm-based group classification method that we propose in this paper significantly outperforms the other methods in respect of classification accuracy ratio as well as misclassification cost.
Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, research on pedestrian attribute recognition technology using deep neural networks has been actively conducted. Existing pedestrian attribute recognition techniques can be obtained in such a way as global-based, regional-area-based, visual attention-based, sequential prediction-based, and newly designed loss function-based, depending on how pedestrian attributes are detected. It is known that the performance of these pedestrian attribute recognition technologies varies greatly depending on the type of backbone network that constitutes the deep neural networks model. Therefore, in this paper, several backbone networks are applied to the baseline pedestrian attribute recognition model and the performance changes of the model are analyzed. In this paper, the analysis is conducted using Resnet34, Resnet50, Resnet101, Swin-tiny, and Swinv2-tiny, which are representative backbone networks used in the fields of image classification, object detection, etc. Furthermore, this paper analyzes the change in time complexity when inferencing each backbone network using a CPU and a GPU.
In order to improve software development productivity and quality, reuse approaches and supporting library systems have been proposed. Library systems have applied various methods to classify, store, retrieve, and comprehend reusable components effectively. As the number of library systems grows, it is difficult to categorize, compare and analyze existing reuse libraries. In this paper, we present classification criteria for reuse library systems. A set of criteria is defined by integrating facet-based and attribute-based classification methods which encode the properties of a reusable component. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed classification criteria, representative library systems based on application domains, as well as component classification methods ore selected and reviewed. We then classify these library systems according to the proposed criteria.

With the development of display hardware, image interpolation techniques have been used in various fields such as image zooming and medical imaging. Traditional image interpolation methods, such as bi-linear interpolation, bi-cubic interpolation and edge direction-based interpolation, perform interpolation in the spatial domain. Recently, interpolation techniques in the discrete cosine transform or wavelet domain are also proposed. Using these various existing interpolation methods and machine learning, we propose decision tree classification-based image interpolation methods. In other words, this paper is about the method of adaptively applying various existing interpolation methods, not the interpolation method itself. To obtain the decision model, we used Weka's J48 library with the C4.5 decision tree algorithm. The proposed method first constructs attribute set and select classes that means interpolation methods for classification model. And after training, interpolation is performed using different interpolation methods according to attributes characteristics. Simulation results show that the proposed method yields reasonable performance.

Travel pattern recognition is widely used in many aspects such as user trajectory query, user behavior prediction, interest recommendation based on user location, user privacy protection and municipal transportation planning. Because the current recognition accuracy cannot meet the application requirements, the study of travel pattern recognition is the focus of trajectory data research. With the popularization of GPS navigation technology and intelligent mobile devices, a large amount of user mobile data information can be obtained from it, and many meaningful researches can be carried out based on this information. In the current travel pattern research method, the feature extraction of trajectory is limited to the basic attributes of trajectory (speed, angle, acceleration, etc.). In this paper, permutation entropy was used as an eigenvalue of trajectory to participate in the research of trajectory classification, and also used as an attribute to measure the complexity of time series. Velocity permutation entropy and angle permutation entropy were used as characteristics of trajectory to participate in the classification of travel patterns, and the accuracy of attribute classification based on permutation entropy used in this paper reached 81.47%.

Hyperspectral imagery is used in the land cover classification with the principle component analysis and minimum noise fraction to reduce the data dimensionality and noise. Recently, studies on the supervised classification using various features having spectral information and spatial characteristic have been carried out. In this study, principle component bands and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) was utilized in the supervised classification for the land cover classification. To utilize additional information not included in the principle component bands by the hyperspectral imagery, we tried to increase the classification accuracy by using the NDVI. In addition, the extended attribute profiles(EAP) generated using the morphological filter was used as the input data. The random forest algorithm, which is one of the representative supervised classification, was used. The classification accuracy according to the application of various features based on EAP was compared. Two areas was selected in the experiments, and the quantitative evaluation was performed by using reference data. The classification accuracy of the proposed algorithm showed the highest classification accuracy of 85.72% and 91.14% compared with existing algorithms. Further research will need to develop a supervised classification algorithm and additional input datasets to improve the accuracy of land cover classification using hyperspectral imagery.
