  • The metal halide lamps are now widely used in the application and commercial lighting due to their attracting properties such as good color rendering and high efficiency. But, they have the serious problem of acoustic resonance for high frequency operation and they need the high voltage to ignite. So, they have not been applied to indoors. Over the past few years, a considerable number of studies have been conducted on the electronic ballast together with hot restarting and resonance phenomenon. But, Very few attempts have been made with the adaptive ignition method according to the lamp state. In this paper, electronic ballast is proposed for metal halide lamps with an igniter for adaptive ignition. The proposed electronic ballast can generate different ignition voltages according to the arc tube state.

  • The development of the industry has increased the indoor living time of modern people. Therefore, indoor pollution is attracting attention as a social issue. One of the indoor air pollution is formaldehyde. Formaldehyde has been classified as a first-level carcinogen by international cancer research organizations. Formaldehyde has been used to protect products such as construction materials and finish materials, and being diffused in the interior construction process. In this study, we used phytoncide with cement matrix to reduce formaldehyde, an indoor environmental contaminant. The strengths was increased slightly and formaldehyde showed a reduction effect over time.

  • Researches for the development of renewable energy as a fuel substitute for global warming and depletion of petroleum resources are actively being carried out. Among them, the annual growth rate of PV generation is 20.73%, which is higher than other renewable energy sources. However, the production of 1 ton of polysilicon, which is known as a raw material for solar power generation panels, generates 2 tons of waste. As the demand for PV panels increases, the problem of the treatment of polysilicon sludge is attracting attention, and studies on the utilization of polysilicon sludge are needed. Therefore, in this study, the applicability of polysilicon sludge treated as industrial waste to the lightweight panel for architectural purposes was examined.

  • The underfloor air distribution system has been attracting to architects and building owners as one of valuable system for the renovated and newly office building. In this paper, we discussed the thermal stratification profile of pressurized plenum underfloor air distribution(UFAD) according to indoor setting temperature, diffuser number, diffuser type. For this, the space of office building(H corp.) is selected for measuring the air volume of underfloor diffuser and vertical temperature profile. As a result, the thermal stratification profile is influenced by the number and type of the underfloor diffuser and thermal storage character of the underfloor. Whereas indoor setting temperature have a lower significant impact on thermal stratification.

  • The goal of the project on developing Korea as the logistics hub of Northeast Asia is to develop Busan Port and Gwangyang Port as international logistics centers by promoting and attracting more warehouses. As is well known, there is intense competition among ports located in major economic blocs to become the regional logistics hub. Gwangyang is second to none in terms of being favorably located at the center of Northeast Asia. Gwangyang Port, however, lacked in SOC construction and faced the poor government support politics hub of Northeast Asia. They are i) expanding the logistics infrastructuressuch as expressway and railroads between Yeosu Airport and Gwangyang Port, ii) Setting up new port hinterland and industrial complex in the vicinity of Gwangyang Port iii) securing high value-added fixed cargo traffic, and iv) improving laws and institutions.

  • This study suggests the holding of the 2015 Busan Harbour Registration Exposition in order to activate port & logistics industry, motivate Busan regional development and set up the long-term goal of local people. The SWOT analysis shows that the given conditions of Busan is competitive to attract the 2015 Busan Harbour Registration Exposition, which might be further strengthened for the competitiveness of the Port of Busan. The way to maximize the holding possibility of the EXPO, then, should be more emphasized for the successful implementation of the Pre-Expos periodically and successively by developing and planning perfectly logicality, differentiated subject and concept of the EXPO which accepted in the inside and outside of country.

  • CoCrPt alloy films are attracting wide attention for applications to high-density magnetic recording media and hard magnetic layer in spin valve structure due to their high coercivity and strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy. Diblock copolymer templates are one of the most promising candidates for nanoscale patterning otherwise inaccessible by lithographic procedures [1]. In this study, we have investigated magnetic properties of Co$\sub$68/Cr$\sub$18/Pt$\sub$14/ nanodot arrays made by self-assembling polystyrene-block-methyl methacrylate ((PS-b-PMMA), (Mn = 82.5 Kg/mol, with a 1.12 polydispersity)) diblock copolymer. • An anthecological study of Tilia in Korea was undertaken for six native and one introduced species. Flowers are protoandrous with anther and stigma opening during the day-time in section(sect) Anastraea and the night-time in sect Astrophilyra. Nectar production was coincided with anther and stigma opening. It is revealed that the primary role of floral bracts was attracting pollinators especially in sect Astrophilyra. The peak of stamen and stigma function, and the production of nectar and odor were closely related with pollinator attraction. Forthy-three species of insects in 30 families were identified for the pollination studies; bees were the most commonly observed visitors in sect Anastraea, while moths were the primary visitors in sect Astrophilyra. Pollination study indicate that it is section specific. But within a section, pollination is not species specific thus interspecific hybridization occurs.

  • Influence of susceptible and resistant soybean varieties to the development of the soybean cyst nematode(Heterodera glycines) was examined. It does not seem likly that there are any differences between varieties in attracting the Second Stage larvae of the nematode. In susceptible varieties, there were large populations and three generations during a ten·week examination period, while the resistant varieties maintained very low populations and had only two generations.

  • Recently, indoor LBS has been attracting much attention because of its promising prospect. One of key technologies for its success is indoor location estimation. A popular one for indoor positioning is to find the location based on the strength of received Wi-Fi signals. Since the Wi-Fi services are currently prevalent, it can perform indoor positioning without any further infrastructure. However, it is found that its accuracy depends heavily on the surrounding radio environment. To alleviate this difficulty, we present a novel indoor position technique employing the geomagnetic characteristics as well as Wi-Fi signals. The geomagnetic characteristic is known to vary according to the location. Therefore, employing the geomagnetic signal in addition to Wi-Fi signals is expected to improve the location estimation accuracy.
