  • The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of class-based and simulation-based CPR education for the rural elderly on their attitudes toward CPR, self-efficacy, and satisfaction. Using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, this study used a pretest-posttest method with a sample of 43 elderly people aged 65 or older in rural areas. The twenty-two elderly people in the control group received class-based CPR education, while the experimental group underwent both class-based and simulation-based education. Both groups were given surveys to complete before and after the education. The statistical analysis was based on the $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, paired t-test, and ANCOVA. The study found no significant differences between the two groups in terms of their attitudes (F=0.89, p=.353). However, statistical differences were found in the self-efficacy (F=5.54, p=.025) and satisfaction (F=4.66, p=.039) between the two groups. This study provides the baseline data indicating that the education methods implemented in this study were effective for the elderly living in rural areas. Thus, it is necessary to make efforts to ensure that the elderly are able to manage emergency situations by boosting their CPR self-efficacy and educational satisfaction through simulation-based education.

  • This study aimed to identify factors that had an influence on preventive behaviors of Emergency Medical Service students against tuberculosis to promote their preventive behavior. The subjects of the study were 314 students studying emergency medical service from one 4-year college and two 3-year colleges in Jeollabukdo and they were researched with the use of a questionnaire from June 25, to July 6, 2018. For a statistical analysis of the data obtained, this study used SPSS 18.0 and conducted a t-test, an ANOVA, a Pearson's correlation coefficient and a multi-regression test to analyze the data. Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis showed that the preventive behavior levels was significantly correlated with knowledge of tuberculosis (r = 0.268, p <0.001) and attitude (r = 0.394, p<0.001). As results of the multi-regression test, the higher the knowledge of tuberculosis(${\beta}=0.152$, p<0.001) and the higher the attitude(${\beta}=0.052$, p<0.001), the higher the preventive behavior levels. In addition, Students who have experienced tuberculosis in their own or relative's relatives have a high level of prevention behavior(${\beta}=-0.186$, p=0.001). Therefore, it is suggested that organized and consistent education programs to promote knowledge on tuberculosis, change negative perception on it and improve preventive behavior levels should be developed and provided.

  • Since death is an extremely subjective and unique experience, if we take into account the lack of understanding about death due to the difficulty in methodology, it is very important to try to understand the subjectivity of death. In this respect, Q-methodology that explains and shows the respondent's subjectivity by objectifying his subjectivity is employed as a solution to the questions in this study. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to provide data on how medical personnel should treat their patients, when it comes to death : by finding out the opinions of those who are being treated, namely the patients, and those who are providing the treatment, namely the medical personnel. It also by examined the characteristics and relationships between these two groups on attitudes to death. The results of this study show that medical per sonnel have two(fate-receipient, reality-oriented) types of response and patients have three (religion-dependent, science-adherent, sardonist) types. Medical personnel saw patients as having three (life-attached. traditionalist, death-rejector) types of response and to patients saw medical personnel as having two (rationalist, humanist)types. The relationship between the above-mentioned types will be examined in a coorientation model, the subjectivity of the medical personnel and the patient toward death indicates a relatively high understanding between the two groups under the great proposition of 'death'. Therefore, in their relationship with people who are facing death, the provider of care, namely the medical personnel, should identify the subjectivity of the patient before approaching them. By doing this, they can minimize the conflicts they might experience in establishing a therapeutic relationship, reduce suffering, and help the patient in greeting a more comfortable death. Throughout the study, Q-methodology expands our understanding of coorientation model that has only been approached with R-methodology. This study confirmed Q's potentiality and its validity in human subjective matters.

  • This study aims to investigate whether financial literacy, parental socialization, peer influence and self-control have a significant impact on money management among students of a Malaysian public university. In most settings, the studies on the determinants of personal saving behavior among university students focus on personality factors, attitudes toward money and possessions, and financial knowledge as predictors of money management behavior. Primary data are collected using a self-administered questionnaire with the samples comprised 186 students. The findings show that all the financial literacy and parent socialization have a positive relationship with money management; meanwhile, peer influences and self-control have a negative relationship with money management. This is because the majority of students admit they cannot control their self in managing their money. In this study, parent socialization has a significant relationship with money management which signifies that parents are playing essential roles in ensuring their children to establish money management. In practical, this study can contribute to the parents in providing their children to foster sound money management. Besides, Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (National Higher Education Fund Corporation) PTPTN should monitor the loan, and management process and arrange motivational program so that students can more focus on the educational expense.
