Anti inflammatory Activity of Flavonoids from the Seeds of Astragalus sinicus Linne

  • The seeds of Astragalus sinicus grows in Korea have been used for oriental traditional medicine as the remedies for inflammation. Eight flavonoids were isolated from the Seeds of Astragalus sinicus and studied its anti-inflammatory activity. Some flavonoid compounds showed significant nitrogen monoxide(NO) production inhibitory activity in IFN-${\gamma}$, LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cell. There compounds also showed significant antioxidative in DPPH assay. (omitted)

  • Phytochemical examination of seeds of Astragalus sinicus has led to the isolation and characterization of kaempferol $3-O-{\beta}-D-apiofuranosyl-(1{\rightarrow}2)-{\alpha}-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$ (1), quercetin $3-O-{\beta}-D-xylopyranosyl-(1{\rightarrow}2)-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$ (2), ampelopsin (3), ampelopsin $3'-O-{\beta}-D-xylopyranoside$ (4), ampelopsin $3'-O-{\beta}-Dxylopyranoside$ (5), myricetin (6), myricetin $3'-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$ (7), myricetin $3'-O-{\beta}-D-xylopyranoside$ (8). Antioxidative activity of these compounds was determined by measuring the radical scavenging effect on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. Flavanonols(3,4, and 5) showed potent antioxidative activity.

Sclerotium rolfsii에 의한 자운영 흰비단병의 발생 (Occurrence of Stem Rot of Astragalus sinicus Caused by Sclerotium rolfsii in Korea)

  • From 2008 to 2009, the stem rot of Astragalus sinicus L. caused by Sclerotium rolfsii occurred sporadically in Gyeongnam area, Korea. The typical symptom is water-soaking, rotting and wilting on the stem. The infected plants were eventually died. White mycelial mats were spread over lesions, and then sclerotia were formed on stems and near soil line. The sclerotia were globoid in shape, white to brown in color, 1-3 mm in size and the hyphal width was 3-9 μm. The optimum temperature for mycelial growth and sclerotial formation on PDA was 30oC. The typical clamp connections were observed in the hyphae of the fungus grown on PDA. On the basis of mycological characteristics and pathogenicity to host plants, this fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii Saccardo. This is the first report on the stem rot of A. sinicus caused by S. rolfsii in Korea.

  • The Seeds of Astragalus sinicus(Leguminosae) is used for the treatment of excretion of urine, circulation of blood and the throat inflammation in Korean traditional medicine. Eight flavonoids were isolated from 80% Acetone extracts. The structure were elucidated as Quercetin 3-O-${\beta}$-D-Xylopyranosyl-(1\longrightarrow2)-${\beta}$-D-galactopyranoside, ampelopsin and myricetin by phytochemical and spectral evidences. The other compounds are understudied by 2D-NMR.

Sclerotinia trifoliorum에 의한 자운영 균핵병 (Sclerotinia Rot of Astragalus sinicus Caused by Sclerotinia trifoliorum)

  • 경남 고성군 자운영 재배포장에서 잎과 줄기가 수침상으로 무르고 썩으며, 시들어 말라 죽고 병든 부분에 흰색의 곰팡이와 균핵이 발생하였다. 감자한천배지 상에서 균총은 연한 회색이며 균핵의 모양은 구형이고 검은색으로 크기는 $2{\sim}14{\times}2{\sim}7mm$이었다. 균사 생육적온과 균핵 형성은 $20^{\circ}C$이었다. 자낭반은 구형 또는 원반 모양이며 크기는 3~8 mm이었다. 자낭은 원통형이고 크기는 $145{\sim}210{\times}10{\sim}12{\mu}m$이었다. 이상과 같이 자운영에 발생한 병징, 병원균의 균학적 특징 및 병원성 검정한 결과 Sclerotinia trifoliorum Eriksson에 의한 자운영 균핵병으로 동정하였다.

  • 본 실험에서 지베레린이 자운영의 생육및 내부 성분에 미치는 영향을 토양재배를 통하여 조사하였다. 잎에 살포한 지베레린의 비교적 적은 농도 차는 자운영의 내부 성분에 현저한 차이를 나타내고 생육의 증가는 지베레린의 농도증가에 관련되었다. 엽녹소 및 Carotene 함량은 지베레린 농도와 상반되고 생장율은 엽록소와 Carotene 함량과 크게 상반되었다. Carotene 함량은 엽록소량과 함께 변하였는데 엽록소와 Carotene의 비는 Beck와 Redman이 얻은 결과처럼 높지 않았다. 엽록소와 Vitamin C의 함량은 발육이 진전함을 따라 차이가 생기는데 이 차이는 엽록소만 유의하다. Anthocyanim 함량은 지베레린의 농도가 증가함에 따라 Sucrose 및 Reducing Sugar의 함량과 함께 감소되었다. Anthocyanim 함량은 Jacob Straus의 옥수수에 대한 실험 결과와 같이 많지 않다.
