  • One of the well-studied problems in data mining is the search for association rules. In this paper we consider the statistical decision making of association threshold in association rule. A chi-squared statistic is used to find minimum association threshold. We calculate the range of the value that two item sets are occurred simultaneously, and find the minimum confidence threshold values.

  • The swallowing threshold of 40 subjects with bilateral missing of molars was tested. The results were as follows : 1) The swallowing threshold of the patients with bilateral missing of molars was higher than that of the normal control subjects. 2) The swallowing threshold of the patients with bilateral missing of molars was higher than that of the full denture wearer. 3) The swallowing threshold of the patients with bilateral missing of molars was different according to the quality and quantity of the test food.

  • This paper proposes the threshold value selection for surface classification of 3-dimensional objects. Pre-existing method which uses the H-curvature and K-curvature has limitation in the practical threshold value selection. For this, this paper proposes the threshold value selection by the statistical method. Finally, the effectiveness of this paper demonstrated by experiment.

  • Hydrologic models generally require land surface analysis to different topographic parameters defined as direct or indirect input variables to the model. Specially GIS supply the these parameters from digital data set of land surface The sensitivity analysis to DEM(Digital Elevation Model) resolution and the threshold area are of GIS extracted digital data set applied GIUH(Geomorphological Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph)model is investigated. Also it is compared the responses of GIUH model as input data of stream networks from digital data set(blue line) of NGIS and those extracted from DEM of various grid sizes. The results shows that the GIUH model is significantly affected by the DEM resolution and threshold area. According to the results, DEM grid size is suitable from 25m to 50m. Also threshold area is in the range of 30%∼50% for exceedance probability.

  • A regional economy is characterized as a spatial economy. However the literature shows that it has been treated as a point economy since space is little recognized in regional modeling due to mathematical complication. This leads to the fact that regional model does not sufficiently represent regional characteristic. This paper attempts to construct a regional growth model in a partial equilibrium framework specifically taking into consideration land as a primary factor. The model is formulated largely neoclassical. Labor is assumed to move in response to differences in the wage rate, while capital is perfectly mobile across regions. The paper shows that two growth equilibrium points exist, one stable equilibrium point and the other unstable equilibrium point. The unstable growth equilibrium indicates the existence of minimum threshold that a region must overcome the minimum threshold to grow constantly. Consequently, directions of regional growth are characterized by two growth paths depending on the initial condition of a region. That is to say, a region below the minimum threshold is converging toward the lower stable equilibrium point over time. When a regional economy initially lies above the minimum threshold, it will grow forever. A regional economy is not thus necessarily converging a stationary is not thus necessarily converging a stationary equilibrium point through factor movement. Finally, the impacts of the presence of agglomeration economies and diseconomies are analyzed through the phase diagram. The paper also shows that agglomeration economies result in lowering the minimum threshold and in escalating the level of stable equilibrium However, when agglomeration diseconomies prevail, the results are opposite, i.e., rising the minimum threshold of growth and lowering the growth level of stable equilibrium.

  • Difference image scheme is widely used for motion estimation in moving object tracking system. This scheme contains a binarization step which segments image into background and moving object regions, referring to threshold value. In this paper, we propose a decision algorithm of tracking the threshold value with a differential image. The key idea is analyzing the histogram of the differential image. In addition we evaluate the performance of this method in comparison with conventional scheme. As an experimental result with 60 images, it is found that threshold by the proposed algorithm is very close to optimal threshold selected manually.

  • Poor posture of the neck and head has long been recognized as a factor contributing to the onset and perpetuation of pain in the head and neck region. This study were to evaluate the change of the neck pressure pain threshold in long term computer users. To elucidate change of the neck pressure pain threshold in long term computer users, the effect of computer using time(3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 hours) on neck pressure pain threshold were studied in 20 subjects. Neck pressure pain threshold were recorded 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 hours group, and evaluated by pressure algometry to Trapezius muscle, Sternocleidomastoidius muscle, Suboccipitalis muscle and Temporalis muscle. Neck pressure pain threshold was significantly larger in 15 hours group(p<.05). But relation between neck pressure pain threshold in male group and female group were not significant differences(p>.05).

  • To estimate the severity of streamflow drought, this study introduced the concept of streamflow drought index based on threshold level method and Seomjingang Dam inflow was applied. Threshold levels used in this study are fixed, monthly and daily threshold, The $1^{st}{\sim}3^{rd}$ analysis results of annual drought, the severe hydrological droughts were occurred in 1984, 1988 and 1995 and the drought lasted for a long time. Annual compared to extreme values of total water deficit and duration, the drought occurred in 1984, 1988, 1995 and 2001 was serious level. In the results of study, because a fixed threshold level is not reflect seasonal variability, at least the threshold under seasonal level was required. Threshold levels determined by the monthly and daily were appropriate. The proposed methodology in this study can be used to forecast low-flow and determine reservoirs capacity.

  • Purpose: The study aims to analyze effects of wage on FDI inflows based on the threshold of institutional quality in 14 developing economies of Southeast and South Asia over the period from 2000-2017. Research design, data, and methodology: The study applies a fixed effect panel threshold regression. As a proxy for the institutional quality, it uses the six components of Worldwide Governance Indicators or a compound index obtained by an average of the six components. The data were taken from World Bank, the Chinn & Ito Database, and UNCTAD. To the best of our knowledge, no researches so far have considered the threshold of institutional quality in estimating the effect of wage on FDI inflows. Results: The composite index and each component of the six indicators of institutional quality except for voice and accountability, and regulatory quality are found to have nonlinear effects on FDI inflows. When the institutional quality is below the threshold, wage affects FDI inflows negatively. When the institutional quality is above the threshold, however, wage does not significantly affect FDI inflows. Conclusions: The effect of wage on FDI inflows varies depending on whether the institutional quality of the target countries is above or below the threshold.
