In this paper, when wheelchair user get into the vehicle, we have thorough grasp of the problems of loading wheelchair and give effect to suggest conceptual design in relation to develop manufactured goods. We choose 50 participants with disabilities who manual wheelchair or motor scooter users are able to drive own's vehicle, and the method practice in the direct survey. There are some limitations in this study especially in terms of the sampling population. The 88%(n=44) of the participant replied to the driver with disabilities need assistive devices for loading manual wheelchair. They prefer a system that robot arm brings the wheelchair out of the trunk to the driver's seat door.
The $1^{st}$ National Plan for Aging Society with Low Fertility, which the Korean government announced in 2006, caused the gradual increase of R&D investment in order to prepare for an aging society in Korea. This study explores if the directions and strategies of R&D projects related to aging are suitable to improve the quality of life for elderly people and establish a sustainable aging society by analyzing the features of R&D investment from 2004 to 2010. The results show that most R&D projects conducted by departments focus on the development of assistive devices for the elderly to support everyday lives. The Korean government's R&D policy to prepare for an aging society is based on the narrow interpretation of Quality of Life (QoL) in an aging society that tries to resolve the socioeconomic problems of the elderly; however, the policies have ignored the independence of active elderly individuals and the social integration of the young and elderly generations. The research shows that a paradigm shift is required from a 'Senior' to 'Aging Society' because almost 1/3 of the Korean population is over 65 years old and the expansion of the research embraces from assistive technologies for the elderly to the design of social infrastructure such as transportation, education and work.

With increasing need of transportation services for people with disabilities and the aged, wheelchairs are used as their assistive devices to participate in daily and recreational activities and as seats of motor vehicle. However, as wheelchairs are primarily designed fer mobility assistive devices, not for vehicle seats, wheelchair users may experience serious injury when they meet car crashes. To date, neither engineering guidance for a wheelchair mounting system on the vehicle floor nor safety assessment analysis by a car crash has been studied for the domestic users. In this paper, in accordance with the ANSVRESNA WC-19, a fixed vehicle mounted wheelchair occupant restraint system (FWORS), wheelchair integrated restraint system (WIRS), and wheelchair integrated x-bend restraint system (WIXRS) subjected to frontal impact (20 g, 48 U) were analyzed using compute. simulations for domestic users. We present surrogate wheelchair occupant safety by head injury criteria (HIC), motion criteria (MC), and combined injury criteria (CIC).

In this study, active and recently in the field of vocational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in the industry engaged in the primary mission of assisting you want to promote activation of devices that can perform the work of the harvest cart or unattended devices such as tool boxes and tracking system developed. This system is manually moved from a remote user is able to control, and also, the ability to track users unattended mounted. The system developed in this study in the field of vocational rehabilitation in order to allow all sides to assess more than three meters in open space system for the Y-and W-course driving range of the error from the final destination 5 times the period analyzed. Analysis of the user's tracking system developed without any problem and that could know.

The physical disabled are using various types of assistive devices and reading assistance device is have been researched and development. After all reading assistance device which being marketed present for the physical disabled's features is simply limited to turing the page. In this paper, Implemented prototype model of the reading assistance device for the physical disabled that is have designed to modify to improve the success rate of turing page and conjunction with mobile devices such as PDA to provide more convenient and useful features. And not only for the disabled then take a look at Universal design concept of view of the tool can be useful the public also.

This study is aim to investigate and propose ways to improve real condition of the accessibility compliance that is required to use mobile applications for special education student with a disabilities. Especially, expert examined some mobile applications with 12 items out of 15 mobile application accessibility guidelines from Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning which is helpful for people with physical disabilities such as difficulty in seeing, hearing, and upper limb. Based on the results of expert evaluation, we analyzed the problem for mobile applications without accessibility compliance and presents improvement plans for people with disabilities to use mobile applications.

This exploratory study aimed to explore the perception (knowledge and attitude) and behaviors of medical personnel regarding medical device safety and to identify the differences in results linked with the type of their task. A questionnaire was administered to medical personnel working at a tertiary care hospital with 900 beds in Incheon, Korea, and 220 completed questionnaires were used for analysis. The results revealed that the majority of the medical personnel perceived the potential risk involved in different types of medical devices they use and stated that they need training programs for safe use of medical devices. Concerning the perception regarding medical devices across different positions within the hospital, it was found that the residents had a low awareness about safety issues, although the medical services they handled involve high risks, thereby calling for safety training. Further nationwide studies are needed to improve the quality and validity of data and eventually to provide important information required by policy makers and academicians to manage medical device safety.

Korea's long-term care insurance for the elderly, which started in 2008, is a borrowed one from gaeho insurance, which started eight years earlier. Both countries have a policy of welfare equipment benefit systems to support the lives of the elderly who are intellectually and mentally weakened. In this study, we attempted to compare and examine the welfare equipment items in Korea with those in Japan and find out the characteristics of the items in Korea and Japan. In Korea, loitering-detection device, posture changing devices, and incontinence underwears were registered as welfare devices before Japan, and in Japan, automatic urine disposal systems, wheelchair electric assist device, position converters, and lifts for handicapped person were designated as welfare devices before Korea. In addition, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has announced the designation of the excretion prediction support device as a welfare device. If Korea and Japan cooperate to develop welfare equipment items together, it will be of great help in improving the quality of life of the elderly in both countries in a super-aged society.

Objective : This study was aimed to survey the present situation and satisfaction in assistive technology of the physically disabled person. Method : 110 patients, being diagnosed with spinal cord injury and stroke, were chosen and structured interview was carried out using by a questionnaire. Result : The followings are the results of this study. First, spinal cord injury(76.2%) and stroke(72.5%) patients used the most wheelchair and mobility devices in assistive technology device. Second, they were satisfied in effectiveness of assistive technology device. Third, spinal cord injury(39.4%) patients used the most repair service in assistive technology service. Fourth, stroke(28.2%) patients used the most application and training service. Fifth, they were satisfied in professionality while were dissatisfied in service delivery program. Conclusion : The results of this study would contribute to better assistive technology for the physically disabled person.

In this paper, we developed a finger robot simulating spasticity and contracture which can be used as a testing bed for evaluating performance of hand rehabilitation devices while it can be also used to train clinicians for improving reliability of clinical assessment. The robot is designed for adult finger size and for independent control of Metacarpophalangeal Joint and Proximal Interphalangeal Joint. Algorithm for mimicking spasticity and contracture is implemented. By adjusting the parameters related to contracture and spasticity, the robot can mimic various patterns of responses observed in fingers with spasticity and contracture.
