  • Business analytics is a management tool for achieving significant business performance improvements. Many organizations fail to or only partially achieve their business objectives and goals from business analytics. Business analytics adoption is a multi-stage complex activity consisting of evaluation, adoption, and assimilation stages. Several research papers have been published in the field of business analytics, but the research on multi-stage BA adoption is fewer in number. This study contributes to the scant literature on the multi-stage adoption model by identifying the critical themes for evaluation, adoption, and assimilation stages of business analytics. This study uses the thematic content analysis of peer-reviewed published academic papers as a research technique to explore the key themes of business analytics adoption. This study links the critical themes with the popular theoretical foundations: Resource-Based View (RBV), Dynamic Capabilities, Diffusion of Innovations, and Technology-Organizational-Environmental (TOE) framework. The study identifies twelve major factors categorized into three key themes: organizational characteristics, innovation characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The main organizational factors are top management support, organization data environment, centralized analytics structure, perceived cost, employee skills, and data-based decision making culture. The major innovation characteristics are perceived benefits, complexity, and compatibility, and information technology assets. The environmental factors influencing BA adoption stages are competition and industry pressure. A conceptual framework for the multi-stage BA adoption model is proposed in this study. The findings of this study can assist the practicing managers in developing a stage-wise operational strategy for business analytics adoption. Future research can also attempt to validate the conceptual model proposed in this study.

  • The purposes of the presented study were to investigate the characteristics related to the acculturation strategies and to investigate characteristics which discriminated the acculturation strategies among immigrated women in Korea based on the multidimensional perspective on acculturation. The study was designed as a social survey study. Data from 346 immigrated women were analyzed. Findings indicated that 37% of the respondents were marginalization, 30% were integration, 18% were segregation, and 15% were assimilation. Integration was associated with Vietnam nationality, younger age, lower level of education. Assimilation was related to longer period of residence, higher number of children, lower level of resilience. Marginalization was associated with North Korea, Japan, China nationality, older age, higher level of education. Segregation was related to older age, higher level of education, lower number of children. Also, Southeast nationality, age, level of education, spouse, and number of children significantly discriminated the acculturation strategies. Especially, the rate of correct discrimination was 80% only for integration. Practical implications from this study were discussed.

  • 227 red yeast strains were isolated from air (60 isolates), plant flowers (45 isolates), soil (40 isolates), water (37 isolates) and dairy products (45 isolates). On the basis of 33 different physiological and morphological properties, the isolated strains were assigned to 6 species belonging to 4 genera. Rhodotorula mucilaginosa and Cryptococcus albidus were the most dominant species among red yeasts of the air, plant flowers, water and dairy products, whereas Cryptococcus albidus and Rhodotorula glutinis were prevailed in soil. Cryptococcus laurentii was represented by considerable number of strains, whereas the other spesies were of low occurrence. Noteworthy was the isolation of 2 different groups of isolates belonging to Rhodotorula glutinis. These groups were differentiated from each other on the basis of rhamnose, cellobiose and arabinitol assimilation and growth at $37^{\circ}C$. Systematic position of Rhodotorula glutinis was discussed.

  • In order to examine controlling factors on primary productivity and assimilation Number of phytoplankton, chlorophyll-a concentrations, light intensity, temperature, salinity and transparency were measured in the Kyonggi Bay and in the mid0eastern coast of Yellow Sea from March 1989 to October 1990. Chlorophyll-a concentration of phytoplankton ranged from 0.91 to 4.30 ug/; in the Kyonggi Bay, and from 0.78 to 4.97 ug/l in the mideastern coast of Yellow Sea. Daily averaged primary productivities and annual primary productivities of phytoplankton ranged from 37.23 to 1104.44 (averaged 361.54) mgC/m$^2$/day, 131.96hC/m$^2$/yr in the mid0eastern coast of Yellow Sea, respectively. Assimilation Number of phytoplankton ranged from 1.47 to 28.28 mgC/mg chl-a/hr in the Kyonggi Bay, and of phytoplankton in the Kyonggi Bay was higher than that of the mid0eastern coast of Yellow Sea. Light utilization efficiencies (a) in the P-I curve ranged from 0.03 to 0.93 [mgC/mg chl-a/hr]/[ue/m$^2$/sec]in the Kyonggi Bay, and from 0.01 to 0.62 [mgC/mg chl-a/hr]/[ue/m$^2$/sec] in the mid-eastern coast of Yellow Sea. Their results indicated that phytoplankton in the Kyonggi Bay utilized light more efficiently than those of the mid0eastern coast of Yellow Sea. The average values of I/SUB k/ were 48.15 ue/m$^2$/sec in the Kyonggi Bay, and 120.37 uE/m$^2$/sec in the mid-eastern coast of yellow Sea. It means the phytoplankton populations in the Kyonggi Bay seem to be adapted to lower light intensity than those of the mid-eastern coast of Yellow sea.

  • Chlorophyll-a concentrations of phytoplankton and primary productivities in closed marine ecosystem, Inchon Dock, were measured and analyzed monthly from August, 1990 to December, 1991. Chlorophyll-a concentrations ranged from 1.61 to $28.67\;\mu\textrm{g}\;Chi-a/I$, where nanoplankton ($2-20\;\mu\textrm{m}$) fractions contributed in 19.0-82.3% and picoplankton ($0.2-2\;\mu\textrm{m}$) fractions in 4.5-51.4%. Primary productivities measured by $^{14}C$ method ranged from 49.4 to $4359.4\;mg\;C{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}day^{-I}$, where nanoplankton ($20\;\mu\textrm{m}$) contributed in 18.8-94.6%. These results implied that very tiny cell-sized phytoplankton populations were important in point of chlorophyll-a concentration and primary productivity of phytoplankton community. In monthly variations of chlorophyll-a concentration by phytoplankton, the first peak occurred in March and the second in August. Nitrogen requirement by phytoplankton ranged from 0.7 to $60.7\;mg\;at-N{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}day^{-I}$ and the turnover time of inorganic nitrogen showed maximum during winter and minimum in summer. Carbon assimilation number increased in summer and decreased in winter.winter.

  • The primary productivity and chlorophyll a were measured at 3 stations in the western channel of the Korea Strait throughout the year from November 1983 to September 1984. The surface primary productivity in autumn 1983 ranged from 9.24-13.05 mg $C/m^3/h$ and chlorophyll a from $0.66-1.22\;mg/m^3$, and showed the highest value throughout the year. The surface primary productivity in winter 1984 ranged from 0.75-1.77 m $C/m^3/h$ and chlorophyll a from $0.19-0.41\;mg/m^3$. and these values were higher than those in summer. The surface primary productivity in spring 1984 ranged from 3.42-6.68 mg $C/m^3/h$ and chlorophyll a from $0.34-0.64\;mg/m^3$, and these values were lower than those in autumn. The surface primary productivity in summer 1984 ranged from 0.57-0.79 mg $C/m^3/h$ and chlorophyll a from $0.11-0.17\;mg/m^3$, and showed the lowest value throughout the year. The assimilation number of surface phytoplankton populations were relatively high, especially high value in autumn and spring, and low value in winter. The primary productivity and assimilation number were rapidly decreased with the increase of depth.

  • The efficiency of energy transfer by a population of the farmed pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas was studied during culture period of 10 months July 1979-April 1980, in Geoje-Hansan Bay near Chungmu City. Energy use by the farmed oyster population was calculated from estimates of half-a-month unit age specific natural mortality rate and data on growth, gonad output, shell organic matter production and respiration. Total mortality during the culture period was estimated approximate $36\%$ from data on survivor individual number per cluster. Growth may be dual consisted of a curved line during the first half culture period (July-November) and a linear line in the later half period (December-April). The first half growth was approximated by the von Bertalanffy growth model; shell height, $SH=6.33\;(1-e^{0.2421(t+0.54)})$, where t is age in half-a-month unit. In the later half growth period shell height was related to t by SH=4.44+0.14t. Dry meat weight (DW) was related to shell height by log $DW=-2.2907+2.589{\cdot}log\;SH,\;(2, and/or log $DW=-5.8153+7.208{\cdot}log\;SH,\;(5. Size specific gonad output (G) as calculated by condition index of before and after the spawning season, was related to shell height by $G=0.0145+(3.95\times10^{-3}{\times}SH^{2.9861})$. Shell organic matter production (SO) was related to shell height by log $SO=-3.1884+2.527{\cdot}1og\;SH$. Size and temperature specific respiration rate (R) as determined in biotron system with controlled temperature, was related to dry meat weight and temperature (T) by log $R=(0.386T-0.5381)+(0.6409-0.0083T){\cdot}log\;DW$. The energy used in metabolism was calculated from size, temperature specific respiration and data on body composition. The calorie contents of oyster meat were estimated by bomb calorimetry based on nitrogen correction. The assimilation efficiency of the oyster estimated directly by a insoluble crude silicate method gave $55.5\%$. From the information presently available by other workers, the assimilation efficiency ranges between $40\%\;and\;70\%$. Twenty seven point four percent of the filtered food material expressed by energy value for oyster population was estimated to have been rejected as pseudofaeces : $17.2\%$ was passed as faeces; $35.04\%$ was respired and lost as heat; $0.38\%$ was bounded up in shell organics; $2.74\%$ was released as gonad output, $2.06\%$ was fell as meat reducing by mortality. The remaining $15.28\%$ was used as meat production. The net efficiency of energy transfer from assimilation to meat production (yield/assimilation) of a farm population of the oyster was estimated to be $28\%$ during culture period July 1979-April 1980. The gross efficiency of energy transfer from ingestion to meat production (yield/food filtered) is probably between $11\%\;and\;20\%$.

  • Background: This study were performed to determine the effect of root pruning of Zizyphus jujuba var. inermis (Bunge) Rehder. Root cutting inhibit vegetative growth and promote reproductive growth as temporarily reducing growth, net assimilation, water potential of leaf and cytokinin level. Methods and Results: The root pruning was treated of the root cutting widths 50, and 80 ㎝ and the root cutting depths 10, and 20 cm. The amount of root pruning and the number of suckers were the highest in the root-pruning treatment at a width of 50 cm and a depth of 20 cm. The blooming time was from June 18 to 20, and no difference was observed in the blooming time among the root-pruning treatments. The number of flowers was rather higher in the root-pruning treatment at a width of 50 cm and a depth of 20 cm and at a width of 80 cm and a depth of 20 cm. The percentage of fruit setting was higher in the plants whose roots were pruned at a depth of 20 cm than in the untreated plants. The fruit size, fruit weight, and sugar content showed no difference among the root-pruning treatments. Conclusions: The results showed that percentage of fruit setting increased with root pruning, while no difference was observed in the growth and fruit quality of plants.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of temperature and light conditions on the vigor and growth responses of red pepper(Capsicum annuum L.) seedlings in the nonheated plastic houses with triple and quadruple coverings during winter. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The growth in terms of plant height, number of leaves, leaf area and dry weight of each organ was reduced up to 50% in the triple coverings compared to quadruple ones. The greatest difference between the triple coverings and quadruple ones was the leaf area, showing two to five times larger in the quadruple ones. Therefore, the differences of the early environmental conditions during raising seedling stage was well reflected. 2. The leaf expansion in the early stage of seedling was delayed in the triple coverings and subsequently crop growth rate(CGR) significantly reduced. The specific leaf area (SLA) in the triple coverings was less than quadruple ones. The net assimilation rate (NAR) was increased in the early stage of seedlings and then reduced in the quadruple coverings. In triple ones, however, the great reduction showed at six weeks after sowing and then increased sharply. 3. The linear relationship among leaf area, total dry weight and leaf dry weight was observed in the all experimental areas, while between leaf area and crop growth rate only in the quadruple coverings, and between leaf area and net assimilation rate in both triple and quadruple ones. 4. The dry matter partitioned to the leaf increased up to six weeks after sowing in the triple coverings but reduced in the stem and root. However, the adverse results were obtained in the quadruple ones. 5. In the triple coverings, the number of branches showed the exponential increment while fruit weight showed linear increment in both triple and quadruple ones. Higher yield was obtained in the quadruple ones. 6. The shoot dry weight among the characteristics of seedlings was greatly contributed to the yield of red pepper after transplanting. Accordingly, one of the decisive criterion for good quality of red pepper seedlings was determined by the highest correlation between shoot dry weight of growing plant and fruit yield of pepper plant.

  • The aim of this research is to review recent trends in weather and climate research in North Korea. We selected North Korean journal 'Weather and Hydrology' for the last 10 years (2007-2016), and identified trends in research subject, researchers, and affiliations. Furthermore, we analyzed the major achievements and trends by research sector. Our main results are same as follows. The largest number of researches on 'modernization and informatization on prediction' have been carried out in North Korea's recent meteorological and climatological research. This could be implicated that the scope of national science policy directly affected the promotion of specific research field. Especially, North Korea was evaluated to be concentrating its efforts on numerical model research and development. The numerical model which enables very short-term (6 hours) rainfall forecast which using ensemble Kalman filter data assimilation method (4D EnKF) was developed. In addition, development of automatic weather system and improvement of the data transfer system were promoted. However, the result reveals that the automated real-time data transfer system was not fully equipped yet. These results could be used as a basic data for meteorological cooperation between South and North Korea.
