Analytical assessment of elevated tank natural period considering soil effects

  • The main purpose of current study is to find the soil effects on natural period of elevated tank. The coupled analytical method is used to assess in this study. The current study presented models which are capable to consider the soil dynamic stiffness changes and fluid- structure interaction effects on natural period of elevated tanks. The basic of mentioned models is extracted from elastic beam and lumped mass theory. The finite element is used to verify the results. It is observed that, external excitation can change the natural period of elevated tanks. Considering the increase of excitation frequency, the natural period will be decreased. The concluded values of natural period in case of soft and very soft soil are more affected from excitation frequency values. The high range of excitation frequency may reduce the natural period values. In addition it is observed that the excitation frequency has no significant effect on convective period compare with impulsive period.

실행문제가 있는 아동의 상호작용식 메트로놈 중재를 통한 타이밍 변화: 단일 대상 연구 (Interactive Metronome Training for a Child With Praxis Problems: A Single Subject Design)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 실행 문제가 있는 일반초등학교에 재학 중인 아동을 대상으로 상호작용식 메트로놈(Interactive Metronome; IM) 훈련을 적용하고, IM 훈련에 따라 타이밍의 변화도를 측정하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 연구 대상은 만 12세 2개월의 남아 1명이었다. 단일대상연구의 A-B설계를 사용하여 총 11회 기를 적용하였다. 기초선 기간 동안 아동에 대한 IM 전체형 평가, 임상관찰, 단축형 감각프로파일을 실시하였고, 중재 기간 동안 IM 훈련을 하였다. 모든 회기 동안 동일하게 IM의 단축형 평가(Short Form Assessment; SFA) 동작 과제 1, 2를 실시하였고, 변화도를 그림으로 제시하였다. 결과 : 초기평가 결과, 대상 아동은 양측통합과 순서실행장애로 의심되었다. SFA 동작 과제 1, 2에서 기초선 기간에 비해 중재선 기간 동안 타이밍에 대한 정확도가 높았다. 또한 SFA 동작 과제 1의 추세선을 살펴본 결과, 기초선 기간에 음의 기울기를 보였으나 중재기간에는 양의 기울기를 보였다. 결론 : 실행에 문제가 있는 아동의 타이밍에 IM이 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 시사하므로 임상에서 IM 훈련을 적용하는 근거가 될 것으로 보인다.

경험자료에 의한 동해안의 지진해일 재해도 평가 (Tsunami Hazard Evaluation for the East Coast of Korea by using Empirical Tsunami Data)

  • 본 연구에서는 지진해일에 의한 원자력발전소의 확률론적 안전성 평가를 위하여 필수적으로 도출해야 하는 지진해일 재해도 곡선을 도출하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 1900년도 이후에 기록된 동해안에서의 지진해일 기록과 1900년도 이전에 역사지진기록에서 찾을 수 있는 지진해일 기록을 이용하여 지진해일에 의한 최대파고에 대한 재현주기를 산정하고자 하였다. Power law, upper-truncated power law 그리고 지수함수에 의해서 추세선을 작성하였으며 그 결과를 비교하였다. 동해안에서 발생한 지진해일의 기록이 10건 내외에 불과하므로 기록에 의한 지진해일 재해도 곡선추정 연구에 제한이 있으나 국내에는 지진해일의 재해도곡선 추정에 관한 연구가 전무한 현실이므로 지진해일 확률론적 안전성 평가를 위한 초석을 놓은 것으로 판단된다.

대기 중 다환방향족 탄화수소류의 오염도 변화 특성 (Variations and Trends in Concentrations of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Air)

  • Ambient air levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) are of concern because of their potential for adverse health effects including transformation of some of these substances to mutagens and carcinogens by mammalian microsomal enzyme system. Airbone particulate samples were collected by a conventional high-volume sampler and by an Anderson cascade impactor on 2 to 3 days in each month over a period of 1 year at a representative site of the heavy traffic area of Seoul from beptember 1994 to August 1995. Ten individual PAHs in sizable air particulates of each stage of two months were separated and analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. As a results of analysis, the gross concentrations of PAHs in the fine and coarse particles were higher in the winter month than in the spring, followed in descending order by in the fall and summer. In a study of dependency of 10 PAHs compounds on size distribution of particles at heavy traffic area found that about 85% of the total PAHs content was associated with particles less than 2.0um (fine particles) in diameter of winter sampling period. while 79% were associated with this size fraction during summer period. In according to the mean concentrations of the 10 PAHs in 7 size classification from < 0.38 to> 10.1, the 'size was the smaller, PAHs concentration was the higher. Thus it was found that PAHs concentration was greatly affected by air particle size. Annual mean benzo(a)pyrene equivalents was 5.88ng/m$^3$ and obtained by applying, toxic equivalency factor developed by Nisbet and Lagoy.

  • 본 연구에서는 주 단위 지하수자원 관리 취약시기 평가 방법을 개발하였다. 강수의 지하수위에 대한 영향을 고려하기 위하여 한계 침투량을 고려한 강우이동평균 방법을 통해 지하수위와의 상관계수를 산정하였다. 취약 시기 평가 기준을 개발하고 평가 기준에 대한 가중치를 엔트로피 방법을 이용하여 산정하였다. 강수와의 상관계수와 산정된 가중치를 이용한 주 단위 지하수자원 관리 취약시기 평가 방법을 개발하였으며, 개발한 방법을 통하여 소규모 행정구역을 대상으로 취약시기를 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 방법은 지역적일뿐만 아니라 계절적인 지하수자원의 효율적 관리 대책 수립의 근거가 될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 연구의 목적은 아동평가 중 관찰의 유형과 기능에 대해 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 다른 분야와 마찬가지로 아동의 평가에는 관찰, 면담, 표준화된 평가 방식들이 다양하게 이용된다. 감각통합 치료접근을 사용하는 치료사들의 경우, 아동 평가 중 특히 초기평가에서 기본적으로 관찰법을 이용한다. 명확한 관찰은 평가의 신뢰성과 타당성을 높이는 근간이 된다. 따라서 관찰의 기본적인 방법들과 요소에 대해 알아봄으로써, 향후 치료사의 관찰능력을 제고하는데 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Insights from existing earthquake loss assessment research in Croatia

  • Seismic risk management has two main technical aspects: to recommend the construction of high-performance buildings and other structures using earthquake-resistant designs or evaluate existing ones, and to prepare emergency plans using realistic seismic scenarios. An overview of seismic risk assessment methodologies in Croatia is provided with details regarding the components of the assessment procedures: hazard, vulnerability and exposure. For Croatia, hazard is presented with two maps and it is expressed in terms of the peak horizontal ground acceleration during an earthquake, with the return period of 95 or 475 years. A standard building typology catalogue for Croatia has not been prepared yet, but a database for the fourth largest city in Croatia is currently in its initial stage. Two methods for earthquake vulnerability assessment are applied and compared. The first is a relatively simple and fast analysis of potential seismic vulnerability proposed by Croatian researchers using damage index (DI) as a numerical value indicating the level of structural damage, while the second is the Macroseismic method.

Development of a real-time mobile gamma-ray measurement system for shipboard use

  • Large areas must be rapidly screened to monitor radiation in marine environments. For this purpose, this study developed a mobile real-time gamma-ray measurement system for shipboard use and evaluated its performance. The system was developed to measure engine or generator cooling water by installing a canister inside the ship. The minimum detectable activity of the system is about 0.8 Bq/L for a 60 s measurement period, and real-time data transmission and remote control are possible. The system was tested in the field and is currently being installed and operated on ships in service. Such a ship-based real-time gamma-radiation measurement system is suitable for a wide range of marine radiation surveillance applications and is expected to be rapidly deployed.

전자식 전력량계의 수명평가 (Lifetime Assessment of Electronic Watt-hour Meters)

  • Recently mechanical watt-hour meters are being replaced by electronic watt-hour meters. The replacement period of mechanical watt-hour meters is 7 years. This period is based on long term historical data. The replacement period of electronic watt-meters is also 7 years. This period is determined using the replacement period of mechanical watt-hour meters. However lifetime of mechanical watt-hour meters is different from the lifetime of electronic meters. In order to determine desirable replacement period of electronic watt-hour meters, accelerated life tests of major components in electronic watt-hour meters were performed. The test results showed that LCD was the component which had the shortest lifetime. In this paper, lifetime of electronic watt-hour meters manufactured by 3 company was estimated and life test standard for LCD was developed.

우리나라 연안준설 및 준설토 해양투기 현황 진단 (Diagnosis for Status of Dredging and Ocean Disposal of Coastal Sediment in Korea)

  • This study documented and diagnosed the status and problems of coastal dredging and offshore disposal of dredged sediments in South Korea to improve assessment procedures for marine environmental impacts and develop effective management systems. A total of $729({\times}10^6)m^3$ of coastal sediment was dredged in the harbors during the period of 2001-2008. Most of dredged sediment was disposed to the land dumping sites whereas ocean disposal accounted for less than 5%. Ocean disposal areas were especially concentrated to the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the southeast of Busan, which is not only an important fishing area for fishermen, but also considered to be spawning and nursery ground for some commercial fish species. To minimize negative impacts of dredging and ocean disposal of coastal sediment on marine ecosystem and potential strife among coastal users, we suggest 1) in development projects involving ocean disposal, it should be mandatory to propose careful reuse plans in the land, and 2) guidelines of environmental assessment and consequence management programs should be developed and implemented.
