  • This study presents the development of a new aluminum seat frame for the commercial bus. Back moment and seat belt anchorage analysis of the conventional steel seat frame was conducted as a base model. Effective aluminum section dimensions for aluminum pipe were calculated from equivalent stiffness and equivalent weight study. Back moment and seat belt anchorage strength with the developed aluminum seat frame were compared to those of the base model. Additionally, to pass the fatigue test, shape modification of side frame assembly was conducted. From this study we could reduce the weight of seat frame more than 5 kg. And the current analysis model and procedure can provide useful informations in designing a new commercial car seat and can reduce the overall design cost and time.

  • In this paper, we have developed base-calling error detection program and algorithm which show the list of the genes or sequences that are suspected to contain base-calling errors. Those programs detect dubious bases in a few aspects in the process of microbial genome project. The first module detects base-calling error from the Phrap file by using contig assembly information. The second module analyzes frame shift mutation if it is originated from real mutation or artifact. Finally, in the case that there is control microbial genome annotation information, the third module extracts and shows the candidate base-calling error list by comparative genome analysis method.

  • The high temperature thermal attacks in welding can affect the residual stress of a frame for automotive assembly accompanying frame deformation. Also the residual stress can induce the negative effect on durability performance of the automobile. In order to analyze the frame deformation, the simplified test frame which had the similar shape (form) of the real automotive frame was fabricated. The contactless optical 3D scanner was used for the shape difference measurement of the frame between before and after the welding. The FE-model of the test frame was composed and the deformation and residual stress simulation were performed. The simulated results were compared with the measured results for the reference of the frame design following as the variation of welding sequency. The deformation shape of the frame by simulation was in good agreement with that by the experimental measurement. In addition, the optimized welding sequency with reduced deformation after welding could be achieved through these analyses.

  • In this paper, we analyze the thermal deformation of mask frame assembly using finite element method(FEM) and predict the beam landing shift during tube operation. For realistic analysis, the apparent thermal conductivity and the apparent elastic modulus are calculated and the shadow mask is modeled as shell without aperatures. Also, all parts inside the tube are modeled and the each radiative effect is considered. Then the finite element analysis is performed for transient thermo-elastic deformation of the mask frame assembly and the beam landing shift is calculated. Experiments are eprformed for 17" cathode ray tube (CRT) to validate the FEM analysis. The temperatures of all parts inside the tube and beam landing shift on the panel are measured and the results are discussed in comparison with the results of the FEM analysis.ysis.

  • This paper presents a new holistic development approach for the carbon continuous-fiber composite frame of an automotive sunroof assembly. The original steel frame has been designed to get higher bending stiffness with its corrugated cross-sectional shape. The new approach uses the prepregs of a fast cure epoxy and PCM manufacturing processing. For higher productivity, the new frames feature a very simple plat cross sectional shape but achieve high bending stiffness through the laminate design. The sandwich structure with a PET foam core was presented. The frames were made of carbon UD laminae covered single carbon fabric on the outer surfaces. The fabrics provide torsional stiffness and also hold the carbon UD fibers floating in the low viscous epoxy resin of prepregs at the curing temperature during processing. The final product yields approximately 18 % savings in weight compared with the original.

  • This article deals the development of Agile and Intelligent Manufacturing System(AIM) for the assembly automation of a tiny ultrasonic actuator used in camera phones and PDAs. The system consists of multi-vision modules, end-effectors, a standard base frame, dispensers, jigs and modular manipulators. Subsystems are a vision system, a force control system and a virtual reality system. Experimental results show that the assembly process for the small components in the various IT applications can be realized by the AIM system.

  • Latest developments on hybrid nanostructured materials fabricated by applying self-assembly strategies on organic/inorganic nanotemplates are discussed. Within this frame, numerous functional nanomaterials including arrays of composite metal/semiconductor nanoparticles, planar waveguides and functional multilayer thin films are generated using self-assembled polymers as templates or building blocks. In particular, surface plasmon resonance based optical sensing is employed to investigate nanofabrication processes occurring in nanoscale dimention. We also suggest unprecedented pathways to hybrid supramolecular multilayer nanoarchitectures in 1D or 2D geometry via layer-by-layer self-assembly.

  • In this paper, design optimization of C-frame of a precision drilling and autorivet machine has been performed. The machine, Autoriveter has been developed by Korea Aerospace Industry (KAI), For current autoriveter, it is hard to achieve high efficiency because of heavy weight of the machine. In this paper, we suggest new structure of the current C-frame, a part of autoriveter, by optimization. The result of the study can give much profit for mass-production of the machine.

  • The notion of leisure has changed with industrial development and improvement in life quality. Bicycling is a healthy sport; it is an exercise performed while enjoying nature. There have been many changes in the materials that are used to manufacture the bicycle frame. Iron and aluminum have been mainly used in bicycle frames. However, carbon-based materials are lighter and stronger than metal frames. The bicycles made of carbon composite changes frame rigidity depending on the direction of the carbon sheet sacking angle. We study the direction of composite material and how they affect the stiffness of frames based on the stacking angle.
