  • Natural convection within inclined high aspect-ratio rectangular cavity was analysed by using finite element method. For a cavity of sapect-ratio 20, the flow patterns of secondary vortices and the heat transfer characteristics on the wall were obtained with the variation of tilt angle as well as Ra and Pr. The observation on the governing equations shows that the increase of Ra/Pr and the existence of nonzero tilt angle make the flow pattern more complicated and so it becomes difficult to obtain converging solution. The max. value of Ra/Pr attained in this study was 3x10$\^$4/at 0$\^$0/ tilt angle and 1.1x10$\^$4/ at 45.deg. tilt angle for aspect ratio 20and Pr=0.7. Finally an empirical formula for Nusselt number which can accout for the effect of tilt angle is obtained for laminar flow regime.

  • The atomizations of CWM slurry and water are done by a wheel atomizer which is designed and manufactured for this experiment. The variables of the experiment are the angle of vane, aspect ratio, particle loading and the mean size of coal particle distribution. The main purposes of the experiment are to know how the angle of vane and aspect ratio of vane influence the size distribution of CWM droplets. The experimental results say there are no appreciable effects on the mean size of CWM droplets from the change of loading of coal prticles in slurry. The mean size of coal particle in slurry, however, influence quite strongly the mean size of CWM droplets. The mean size of CWM droplets is quite strongly affected by the angle of vane. The size distribution of CWM droplets is controllable by the change of aspect ratio.

  • The Purpose of this study is to detect morphological changes of the maxilla following the operation of paranasal sinuses in the orthopantomogram. 1) The measurement of the angle set up by two reference lines which represent posterior aspect of the maxilla and skull base was made. 2) The mean angle in the post-operative patients showed significantly smaller than that in the normal subjects. 3) The forms of posterior aspect of maxilla were classified into 5 types. (flat, convex, concave, uneven and obliterated.) 4) In contrast with the convex type in the majority of normal subjects, approximately half of the post-operative patients showed the concave type. 5) These results may suggest that the superior part of the posterior aspect of the maxilla tend to depress following the operation of these paranasal sinuses.

  • In this study, the effect of using a neutral beam formed by low-angle forward reflection of a reactive ion beam on aspect-ratio-dependent etching (ARDE) has been investigated. When a SF6 Inductively Coupled Plasma and $SF_6$ ion beam etching are used to etch poly-Si, ARDE is observed and the etching of poly-Si on $SiO_2$ shows a higher ARDE effect than the etching of poly-Si on Si. However, by using neutral beam etching with neutral beam directionality higher than 70 %, ARDE during poly-Si etching by $SF_6$ can be effectively removed, regardless of the sample conditions. The mechanism for the removal of ARDE via a directional neutral beam has been demonstrated through a computer simulation of different nanoscale features by using the two-dimensional XOOPIC code and the TRIM code.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the reasonable gathering conditions as consider of effect of gathering and variation of silhouette made by gathering conditions. The experimental design consists of four factorial design: (1) three kinds of different weight and different thickness fabrics (2) three kinds of different stitch densities (3) five kinds of different ratio of gathers (4) three kinds of different angles. Therefore one hundred thirty five (135) samples were made. Data analysis utilize SPSS WIN 10.0 Package. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In the aspect of fabrics, it is shown the visual propriety that it is as thin as the small stitch, and as thick as the big stitch. 2. As stitch densities, it shows the different stabilized nodes. 3. In the aspect of ratio of gathers, it is shown the visual propriety that a few was small stitches, which help formations of nodes, and a lot were big stitches, which help increased the effect of gather. 4. In the aspect of angle of bias, the drape appearance was excellent as a sample of cutting by 0 angle(0$^{\circ}$) of bias. The big stitches that help formations of stabilized nodes, and a case of cutting by 45 angle(45$^{\circ}$) of bias was small stitch.

  • In this paper the influence of aspect ratio, height ratio and material angle on static and free vibration behaviour of orthotropic elliptic paraboloid shells is studied by using a four-node hybrid stress finite element. The formulation of the element is based on Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. The element is developed by combining a hybrid plane stress element and a hybrid plate element. A parametric study is carried out for static and free vibration response of orthotropic elliptic paraboloid shells with respect to displacements, internal forces, fundamental frequencies and mode shapes by varying the aspect and height ratios, and material angle.

  • Besides dorsal-aspect target strength (TS) of the fish, side-aspect TS information is also acoustically important parameter in fisheries acoustics. In this study, the side-aspect TS of 11 black sea bream (Acanthopagurus schlegeli) were measured using a split beam echosounder of 120, 200, and 420 kHz; total length of the fish ranged from 12.4 to 23.7 cm, and wet weight from 27.5 to 229.8g. For the precise TS measurement with side-aspect angle, we used anesthetized and tethered specimens of known size while being rotated through $360^{\circ}C$ by means of a carousel structure. The side-aspect TS measurements of the fish were conducted by rotating the fish in the horizontal plane at 50 interval. The ping interval was 0.2 second and elapsed time at each angle was 30-60 second. As a result, the measured side-aspect TS data were fitted by sinusoidal function. The relationships between fish length and near full side-aspect TS were as follows: $TS_{120kHz}= 21.46 log (TL)-67.5 (r = 0.70), \;TS_{200 kHz}= 31.03 log (TL)-76.9 (r=0.83),\;TS_{420 kHz}= 30.79 log (TL)-72.2 (r = 0.77)$. For comparison, theoretically estimated side-aspect TS from the Kirchhoff ray mode (KRM) model, which based on swimbladder and body morphology, were compared with the measured TS.

  • A asic study is performed on two-dimensional natural convective flow and heat transfer in a fluid heated internally within an inclined rectangular enclosures. For Rayleign numbers from 1.0*10$^{4}$to 1.5*10$^{5}$ , aspect ratio of 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2, and inclined angle from 0deg to 90deg, the governing equations were solved numerically and the experiments were performed by MachZehnder interferometer using low salinity water as a test fluid. For aspect ratios adapted in present study, the natural convection occures the most intensive at inclined angle of 0deg. This became weak at inclined angles of 60deg and 30deg in case of aspect ratios of 1/3 and 1/2 respectively. The intensity of flow was roughly in proportion to Rayliegh numbers and in proportion to the forth power of aspect ratios.

  • This paper has been shown for the extraction of Doppler signature from the radar signal for an air-breathing targets tracked in the ground radar. For the extractions, a Doppler resolution is confirmed from mathematical modeling of PT(pulse train) waveform. Doppler signatures of air-breathing target are varied to radar aspect angle of engine and are determined from physical parameter of jet engine. To confirm such Doppler signatures, the radar signal reflected from the air-breathing target is obtained by our radar signal storage. After this extraction, radar aspect angle of engine has estimated from tracking information. Relative differences of Doppler signatures to radar aspect angle of engine is verified from these results and Doppler profiles for radar target identification appliance are presented.
