At present around 50 companies have their own crushing plants, which manufacture rock into crushed sand, over around 350 different quarry throughout the nation. However, in most plants the stone dust sludge is left as it is in their plants so that they have difficulty to utilize. Furthermore, environmental pollution may be even caused due to dust generated when it is dried. Recycling is starting capturing the attention of the people working over the quarry due to the reasons described above. This research has studied in the quarters the usability as landfill liner of the stone dust sludge, which is industrial waste. We investigated what technological properties it would have after mixing the stone dust sludge with SM(sandy soil) first and then with blast furnace slag or reject ash, which is waste, and cement as the stabilizer. As the result of three tests; compacting test, strength test, and permeability test; to satisfy the regulatory guideline of the government that is the compress strength over 5 $kgf/cm^2$, the flexibility over 1 $kgf/cm^2$, and the permeability under $1.0{\times}10^{-7}cm/sec$ From this research, we could confirm that stone dust sludge would be used as waste landfill liner if it were mixed with other waste by the proper mixing ratio.
There are several steps such as slicing, lapping, chemical etching and mechanical polishing in the silicon wafer production process. The chemical etching step is necessary to remove damaged layer caused In the slicing and lapping steps. The typical etching liquor is the acid mixture comprising nitric acid, acetic acid and hydrofluoric acid. At present, the waste acid is treated by a neutralization method with a high alkali cost and balky solid residue. A solvent extraction method is applicable to separate and recover each acid. Acetic acid is first separated from the waste liquor using 2-ethlyhexyl alcohols as an extractant. Then, nitric acid is recovered using TBP(Tri-butyl phosphate) as an extractant. Finally hydrofluoric acid is separated with the TBP solvent extraction. The expected recovered acids in this process are 2㏖/l acetic acid, 6㏖/1 nitric acid and 6㏖/l hydrofluoric acid. The yields of this process are almost 100% for acetic acid and nitric acid. On the other hand, it is important to recover and reuse the metal values contained in various industrial wastes in a viewpoint of environmental preservation. Most of industrial products are made through the processes to separate impurities in raw materials, solid and liquid wastes being necessarily discharged as industrial wastes. Chemical methods such as solvent extraction, ion exchange and membrane, and physical methods such as heavy media separation, magnetic separation and electrostatic separation are considered as the methods for separation and recovery of the metal values from the wastes. Some examples of the application of solvent extraction to the treatment of wastes such as Ni-Co alloy scrap, Sm-Co alloy scrap, fly ash and flue dust, and liquid wastes such as plating solution, the rinse solution, etching solution and pickling solution are introduced.
In an attempt to recycle as feed or fertilizer, broiler litter containing rice hull was manually composted under the control of peak temperature of piles(uncontrolled or controlled below $70^{\circ}C$ or below $60^{\circ}C$) in each of three $1.0\;{\times}\;1.0\;{\times}\;1.2m$ dimensional facilities. Changes of nutritional and microbiological parameters were evaluated throughout the 8 weeks of processing period. The initial content of crude protein(29.6%) decreased to 17.8% after 8 weeks of composting. The rapid nitrogen(N) loss observed in the early phase was attributed mainly to non-protein-N(NPN) loss. The initial content of ash(19.1%) increased to $26{\sim}29%$ after 8 weeks. For toxic heavy metals, Cr, Pb, and Hg contents of final composts were far less than the maximum tolerance levels allowed in food or compost. Bacterial growth was rather depressed until the second week, increased thereafter, and reached to peak($10^{12}cfu$ level) at the 4th week of composting. With composting, actinomycetes were active at the level of $10^7\;to\;10^9$. Fungi were active during the first to third week of composting. In general, control of pile temperature below $70^{\circ}C$ did not remarkably alter the nutritional and microbiological parameters of broiler litter compost, compared to that of pile temperature below $60^{\circ}C$. Further researches on prevention from the rapid loss of NPN in the early phase of composting are required for more effective recycling of broiler litter.

The recycling of demolished concrete as an alternative source of coarse aggregates for the production of new concrete can help to solve the growing waste disposal crisis and the problem of the depletion of natural aggregates. The purpose of this study is to investigate the chloride migration of recycled aggregate concrete containing pozzolanic materials by the chloride migration coefficient. The specimens were made with recycled coarse aggregate at various replacement ratios (10, 30, 50%) and metakaolin, blast furnace slag, and fly ash is replaced for recycled concrete with a mixing ratio of 20%. The major results are as follows. 1) The compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete containing pozzolanic materials increases as the curing age and chloride diffusivity decreases. 2) When the replacement ratio of recycled coarse aggregate is 30%, the chloride migration coefficient of recycled concrete containing blast furnace slag or metakaolin that shows a value similar to or lower than that of plain concrete at all ages.

In this study, the engineering characteristics of CLSM mixed with GBFS and GF were identified to review the applicability as a replacement material and further evaluate the recharge and field applicability as a joint filler material. This study has resulted in the following findings. First, Using more than 30% of GBFS to replace FA enabled bleeding control through improved fluidity. Moreover, it has been confirmed that effective strength and proper quality can be achieved when it was applied as a refiller and joint filler material with higher early strength than the base material. Second, When using more than 30% of FNS to replace sand, it was found that adding 0.3~0.35 of the AE agent is effective for bleeding control through improved fluidity. Third, When using more than 30% of both GBFS and FNS in combination, it was found that adding 0.3~0.35 of the AE agent is effective for bleeding control through improved fluidity. Also, it was confirmed that proper mixing of 15~60% of GF secured the effective strength and desired quality as a refiller and joint filler material. Fourth, The relationship between the superficial level and internal micro pores of CLSM from the curing process needs to be discussed and reviewed in more detail through further research studies.
This study evaluated mechanical characteristics and performance of recycled concrete
as a pavement material for use in low volume road. The recycled concrete was prepared
by replacing a half of coarse aggregate with recycled coarse aggregate. Natural sand
from a source was used as fine aggregate together with admixtures, such as plasticizer
and fly ash (0.8% and 5% by wt. of total binder, respectively). From experimental
evaluation. it was found that flexural strength. compressive strength, elastic modulus
and fracture toughness of recycled concrete at 28 days were approximately $45kg/cm^2$, $250kg/cm^2$, $230,000kg/cm^2$ 및 $0.863 MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$. respectively. Long term strength and
fracture toughness were improved significantly at the age of 6 months. In conclusion.
mechanical properties of the recycled concrete were acceptable for use as concrete
pavement materials in low-volume roads in rural and urban areas.
In this paper, strength and leaching characteristics of water sludge-added lightweight soils(WALS) considering reinforcing materials(waste fishing net, glue treated waste fishing net and geogrid) and layer(1 or 2 layer) were investigated using unconfined compression test and leaching test. Several specimens of water sludge-added lightweight soil consisted of water sludge, cement, and bottom ash were prepared according to flowability. Reinforcing material added into these specimens were waste fishing net and geogrid. A glue treated waste fishing net was also added in order to increase interlocking between soil mixture and waste fishing net. Strength increased in the order of WALS reinforced by waste fishing net, glue treated waste fishing net, and geogrid. Strength of specimen with double layer-reinforcing material was greater than that of specimen with single layer reinforcing material. Leaching result of WALS was also satisfied with standard of ministry of environment.

In this paper, risk assessment was conducted to verify self - disposal requirements by landfill for exempted incineration ash by using Resrad Ver.6.5 computer code. The result of risk assessment by landfill for the incineration by-product is that individual dose is $6.91{\times}10^{-2}{\mu}Sv\;y-1$ and collective dose is $3.475{\times}10^{-7}man-Sv\;y-1$. It proved that the result meets reference dose of individual dose $10{\mu}Sv\;y-1$ and collective dose 1 man-Sv y-1 for general public. According to the current 'Nuclear Safety Commission Notice [No. 2014-3]', it states that the exempted wastes can be disposed of by incineration, landfill and recycling. However, most of recently documents and papers related to exempted wastes are disposed of by landfill and recyling and it could not confirm the case of exempt by incineration. If the national consensus is derived and treating the waste by using process of incineration is activated, it could be considered to treat low level of radiation wastewater and activated carbon excluded from exempted waste because of nuclide $^3H$ and $^{14}C$.
Among various industries, the textile industry uses the largest amount of water for coloring textiles which leads to a large amount of wastewater containing various kinds of dye. There are various methods for the removal of dye such as flocculation, ozone treatment, adsorption, etc. But these processes are not much successful due to the issue of recycling which enhances the cost. Alternatively, the membrane separation process for the treatment of dye in wastewater is already documented as the best available technique. Polymeric membrane and ceramic membrane are two separate groups of separation membranes. Advantages of ceramic membranes include the ease of cleaning, long lifetime, good chemical and thermal resistance, and mechanical stability. Ceramic membranes can be prepared from various sources and natural materials like clay, zeolite, and fly ash are very cheap and easily available. In this review separation of wastewater is classified into mainly three groups: ultrafiltration (UF), microfiltration (MF), and nanofiltration (NF) process.
Geopolymer concrete production is interesting as it is an alternative to portland cement concrete. However, workability, setting time and strength expectations limit the sustainable application of geopolymer concrete in practice. This study aims to improve the production of geopolymer concrete to mitigate these drawbacks. The improvement in the workability and setting time were achieved with the additional use of NaOH solution whereas an increase in the strength was gained with the addition of recycled steel fibers from waste tires. In addition, the use of 25% basalt powder instead of fly ash and the addition of recycled steel fibers from waste tires improved its environmental feature. The samples with steel fiber ratios ranging between 0.5% and 5% and basalt powder of 25%, 50% and 75% were tested under both compressive and flexure forces. The compressive and flexural capacities were significantly enhanced by utilizing recycled steel fibers from waste tires. However, decreases in these capacities were detected as the basalt powder ratio increased. In general, as the waste wire ratio increased, the compressive strength gradually increased. While the compressive strength of the reference sample was 26 MPa, when the wire ratio was 5%, the compressive strength increased up to 53 MPa. With the addition of 75% basalt powder, the compressive strength decreases by 60%, but when the 3% wire ratio is reached, the compressive strength is obtained as in the reference sample. In the sample group to which 25% basalt powder was added, the flexural strength increased by 97% when the waste wire addition rate was 5%. In addition, while the energy absorption capacity was 0.66 kN in the reference sample, it increased to 12.33 kN with the addition of 5% wire. The production phase revealed that basalt powder and waste steel wire had a significant impact on the workability and setting time. Furthermore, SEM analyses were performed.
