The artificial sewage was treated using a vertical flow zeolite-filled reed bed. The artificial sewage was fec into the reed bed for 10 minutes every 6 hours at the hydraulic load 314 L/$m^2$ \ulcorner day. The filtering height of the reed bed was 100 cm and the zeolite mixture was filled in the reed bed. The mixture consisted of the same volume of two types of zeolites ; 0.5~1 mm and 1~3 mm in diameter. Annual average removal efficiency was CO$D_{Cr}$ 95.1%, T-N 49.5%, $NH{_4^+}$-N 99.4% and T-9 56.4%. T-N removal efficiency decreaced remarkably from 73 to 27% with the operating time. Most of T-P was adsorbed in the uper area of the reed bed. The major portion of adsorbed phosphorus was composed of Fe-, Ca- and reductant selubele Fe-P.
In this study, we analyze the behavior of concrete which contains zeolite and diatomite. In order to achieve the goal, we utilize expert system methods. The utilized methods are artificial neural network and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference systems. In this respect, we exploit seven different mixes of concrete. The concrete mixes contain zeolite, diatomite, mixture of zeolite and diatomite. All seven concrete mixes are exposed to 28, 56 and 90 days' compressive strength experiments with 63 specimens. The results of the compressive strength experiments are used as input data during the training and testing of expert system methods. In terms of artificial neural network and adaptive network-based fuzzy models, data format comprises seven input parameters, which are; the age of samples (days), amount of Portland cement, zeolite, diatomite, aggregate, water and hyper plasticizer. On the other hand, the output parameter is defined as the compressive strength of concrete. In the models, training and testing results have concluded that both expert system model yield thrilling medium to predict the compressive strength of concrete containing zeolite and diatomite.
This study was carried out to granulate artificial zeolite powder that remove ammonium nitrogen and phosphorous simultaneously in wastewater treatment. Optimum water content was required for 30 percent volume to granulate artificial zeolite with 1.7mm diameter and 1~2cm length using granulator. Portland cement could remove much $NH_4{^+}$ and $PO_4{^{3-}}$ from the wastewater than other binding materials. Mixed 33, 25. 20. 16 percent of portland cement to artificial zeolite powder(v/v), cation exchange capacity of the granulars were 66.5, 81.4, 126.8, $151.2cmol^+kg^{-1}$ and hardness of that were 176.1, 24.4, 4.1, $0.4kg\;cm^{-2}$, respectively. Content of portland cement in the granular were related with removal of $PO_4{^{3-}}$ positively and that of $NH_4{^+}$ negatively. Shaked 1g of the granulars that made of portland cement 33 percent with 40ml synthetic wastewater containing $NH_4{^+}$$1545mgl^{-1}$ and $PO_4{^{3-}}$$417mgl^{-1}$, 99.4 percent of $NH_4{^+}$ and 90.3 percent of $PO_4{^{3-}}$ were removed simultaneously after 48 hours shaking. The longer shaking, the more $NH_4{^+}$ and $PO_4{^{3-}}$were removed. The artificial zeolite granular had both micropore and macropore that could be useful in the wastewater purification.
Methods to prepare novel second-order nonlinear optical (2O-NLO) materials composed of all-silica zeolite (silicalite-1) and a series of 2O-NLO molecules having high second order hyperpolarizability constants (${\beta}$ values) are reviewed. These methods include the development of novel methods to incorporate a series of hemicyanine (HC) molecules into the channels of silicaite-1 films in uniform orientations. The first method is to incorporate HC molecules tethered with long alkyl chains (octadecyl or longer) into the silicalite-1 channels with the long alkyl chain side first through the hydrophobic-hydrophobic interaction between the long alky chains and the silicalite-1 channels. The second method is to incorporate the HC molecule tethered with a medium length alkyl chain (nonyl) into the silicalite-1 channels with the medium length alkyl chain side first through hydrophobic-hydrophobic interaction between the medium length alky chain in the photoexcited state and the silicalite-1 channels. The third method is to incorporate the HC molecule tethered with propionic acid into the silicalite-1 channels with the propionic acid side last mediated by a tetrabultylammonium cation ion-paired to the propionate unit. A method to prepare a novel third-order nonlinear optical (3O-NLO) material composed of zeolite-Y and PbS or PbSe quantum dots is also reviewed. This Account thus describes a promising new direction to which the search for highly sensitive 2O-NLO and 3O-NLO materials has to be conducted and a new direction to which zeolite research and applications have to be expanded.

On the international provision on prohibition of ocean dumping of waste, tap water sludge has been buried or recycled on th low value added product as landfill. Due to the tap water sludge having high inorganic content, differing from the sewage sludge, it is possible to use as a usable resource by suitable process. We have studied on hydro thermal processing of tap water sludge with phosphoric acid and finally synthesize a artificial zeolite having a deodorization property. To use it as a building material, it has to be solidification. This study is on the properties of artificial zeolite synthsized and solidification properties by various types of solidifier. It is showed that the slaked lime is the best on setting property and its optimum content is 30-60 weight proportion. Solid by solidified by slaked lime has low strength and excellent deodorization performance, so it is possible to use as a functional pannel as gypsum board.
Heavy metal removal by using porous mineral adsorbents bears a great potential to decontaminate sludge compost, and natural zeolite (NZ), artificial zeolite (AZ), and expanded perlite (EP) seem to be possible candidates for this purpose. A composting experiment was conducted to compare the efficiency of those adsorbents for removal of iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), and lead (Pb) from sewage sludge compost with no adsorbent amendment. For this purpose, 10 g of NZ and AZ and 5 g of EP was filled in a small bag made from non-biodegradable synthetic textile and was separately mixed in composting piles. The bags were separated from compost samples at the end of the experiment. AZ and NZ exhibited different reduction potentials depending on the type of heavy metal. AZ significantly reduced Cr (43.7%), Mn (35.8%), and Fe (29.9%), while NZ more efficiently reduced Cu (24.5%), Ni (22.2%), Zn (22.1%), and Pb (21.2%). The removal efficiency of EP was smaller than both AZ and NZ. The results of this simultaneous composting and metal removing study suggest that AZ and NZ can efficiently bind metal during composting process.

An experiment was conducted to compare the dietary supplemental influence of artificial zeolite produced from fly ash and natural zeolite on performance and physiological related factor of broiler chicks for five weeks. Diets contained CP 21.5, 19% and ME 3,100, 3,100kcal/kg for starting and finishing period. Three hundred twenty chicks were replaced into five treatments with four replicates. Control, 1.5 and 3.0% artificial(AZ) or natural zeolite(NZ) were supplemented to the basal diets, respectively. Weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion were weekly examined. Blood cholesterol, intestinal microflora, nutrients availability were measured at the end of experiment. Weight gain of chicks fed NZ tended to increase, but was not statistically different. However, the birds of fed 3.0% AZ showed significant decrement of weight gain compared to that of control(P<0.05). Feed intake was no difference in all treatments. Feed conversion was significantly improved in 3.0% NZ treatment relative to that of 3.0% AZ(P<0.05). There were no consistency in intestinal microbes between control and supplemental groups. Blood cholesterol was significantly lower in 3.0% NZ treatments than other treatments(P<0.05). Crude fiber digestibility of birds fed 3.0% NZ was significantly improved compared to that .of other treatments(P<0.05). As the results, artificial zeolite showed no detrimental effect in less than 1.5% addition on performance of broiler chicks.
Constructed wetlands were typically cost less to build and operate, and require less energy than standard mechanical treatment technology but they have similar performance to centralized wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, they were constructed especially many in rural areas, where are small villages but not industries. Accordingly, plantless column tests were performed to investigate the possibility on using zeolite as a filter medium of constructed wetland for the wastewater treatment. $COD_{cr}$ removal efficiency was 94.63% at hydraulic load $314L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering hight 100cm filled with a zeolite mixture. This zeolite mixture consisted of 1 : 1 by volume of a zeolite in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1mm to a zeolite in the diameter range of 1 to 3mm. According, hydraulic load $314L/m^2{\cdot}d$ was considered as optimal. Three zeolite mixture were used to determine the optimal mixing ratio by volume of a zeolite(A) in the diameter range of 0.5 to 1mm to a zeolite(B) in the diameter range of 1 to 3mm diameter. 1 : 3, 1 : 1 and only B in A to B by volume were tested at hydraulic load $314L/m^2{\cdot}d$ and filtering hight 100cm. $COD_{cr}$ removal efficiency was more than 89% at mixing ratios of 1 : 3 and 1 : 1 in A to B. Removal efficiency was lower at the column filled with only B. Removal efficiency was better at filter medium filled with mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B than with the other mixing ratios. Thus, it was found that the mixture of mixing ratio 1 : 1 in A to B was appropriate for filter medium of constructed wetland. Removal efficiency was higher in down-flow than in up-flow, and $COD_{cr}$ and BOD were removed best in 20cm filter height near feeding area.
