Most of the important stone cultural heritage (National treasures and Treasures) in Korea are mainly located outdoor and considerably affected by the changes of the temperature, humidity and rainfalls. 541 of the stone cultural heritage are preserved as National treasure and Treasure. The pagodas occupy 187 remains and next 127 Buddha statues, 68 monuments, 60 stupas, and the others 74 stone cultural heritages. The shelter has been installed for one pagoda, 60 Buddha statues, 36 monuments and two stupas. The shelters are categorized in three shapes as traditional shape, modern shape, and others (tradition+modern). Approximately 100 of shelters that have constructed in traditional ways, and about nine of shelters have modern ways, and the only one has the combination shape of tradition and modern, which has been constructed since mid 1900s and repaired from the 1980s~2000s. Many researchers are studying for improvement of manners such as repairing, remodeling or removing of the shelter because problems have occured on shelters. Architectural form of traditional style of Korean timber building is respected, but it has problems on importing natural sunlight to the inside as well as ventilation and spacial problems. However, it needs to supplement policies to improve the positive roles of shelters such as prevention of artificial damage, blocking acid rain, and so on. For instance, the rock-carved Buddha Triad in Seosan, it had problems with viewing, contamination, and dew condensation on the surface. These problems decreased after dismantling the shelter, the space was made for improvement of viewing and dew condensation, and moisture problems were in better conditions. The velocity wind is an important factor in drying conditions on the surface of the rock, therefore the condition has improved after dismantling the shelter.

Autonomous vehicles are the 4th industrial revolution that utilizes artificial intelligence(AI) and superconducting technology, and is a world-wide investment and research project. However, a Uber vehicle under test in Arizona, USA, was accidentally killed by pedestrians crossing the road in the dark night, and accidents occurred when the Tesla vehicle was exposedto the backlightof the sun. These problems were caused by misunderstandings and choice about sensors mounted on autonomous vehicles due to bad weather such as snow, rain, and sunlight. In this paper, we analyze the composition of the autonomous vehicle and the cause of the accident, and consider the criteria that should be judged in case of emergency in which human accidents may occur. This paper analyzes the composition of autonomous vehicles and causes of accidents, and considers the criteria that should be choice in an emergency where an accident may occur.
Kudzu vine(Pueraria montana var. lobata) is an invasive climbing woody vine that envelops trees and shrubs, pressing physically and shutting out sunlight, which needs to be controlled. Kudzu vine pathogens were surveyed as a way to seek its biocontrol agents in 2002. Occurrence of a bacterial halo blight disease of kudzu vine was observed at several localities in Korea including Euiwang and Suwon in Gyeonggi Province, Daejon, and Gochang and Buan in Jeonbuk Province. Symptoms of brown to black spots with a surrounding yellowish halo appeared from June and lasted till the rainy season without much expansion, but accompanying often leaf blight and defoliation. Isolated bacteria were identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola based on physiological and cultural characteristics, Biolog, fatty acid and 16S rDNA sequencing analyses. In artificial inoculation test, these bacteria produced the same halo spot symptoms on kudzu vine and bean plants. They also induced hypersensitive responses (HR) on tobacco, tomato, and chili pepper leaves. This is the first report of a bacterial disease of kudzu vine in Korea, and the bacterial pathogen can be used as a biocontrol agent against the pest plant.

The radish skin and radish greens are an edible part of the radish. But they are removed before eating the radish and used as a byproduct or an animal feed material because of their tough and rough texture. Melanin is a pigment that gives colour to our skin. But increased production of melanin can turn into benign or malignant tumours. These days due to global warming, the amount of Ultra violet (UVB) rays has been extensively increased with sunlight. Due to this, a phenomenon called exogenous photo aging is widely observed for all skin colour and types. As a result of this phenomenon, a set of enzymes called matrix metalloproteinases (MMP's) that serves as degradation enzymes for extracellular matrix proteins mainly collagen is increased, causing depletion in collagen and resulting in early wrinkles formation. Therefore in our study we used the murine melanoma cell line B16/F10 to study the melanogenesis inhibition by Heated radish extract (HRE) in vitro and we used HRM-2 hair less mice exposed to artificial UVB for checking the efficacy of Heated radish extract in vivo. Furthermore, we prepared a 3% Heated radish extract (HRE) cream and checked its effects on human skin. Our results have clearly demonstrated that Heated radish extract (HRE) have potently suppressed the tyrosinase activity and melanin production in B16/F10 cells. It had also reduced the expression of components involved in melanin production pathway both transcriptionally and transitionally. In in vivo studies, HRE had potently suppressed the expression of MMP's and reduced the wrinkle formation and inhibited collagen degradation. Moreover, on human skin, ginseng cream increased the resilience, skin moisture and enhanced the skin tone. Therefore in light of these findings, we conclude that HRE is an excellent skin whitening and antiaging product.

In this paper, Face recognition algorithm is designed based on optimized pRBFNNs pattern classifier using three-dimensional scanner. Generally two-dimensional image-based face recognition system enables us to extract the facial features using gray-level of images. The environmental variation parameters such as natural sunlight, artificial light and face pose lead to the deterioration of the performance of the system. In this paper, the proposed face recognition algorithm is designed by using three-dimensional scanner to overcome the drawback of two-dimensional face recognition system. First face shape is scanned using three-dimensional scanner and then the pose of scanned face is converted to front image through pose compensation process. Secondly, data with face depth is extracted using point signature method. Finally, the recognition performance is confirmed by using the optimized pRBFNNs for solving high-dimensional pattern recognition problems.
The artificially grown forests of larch, planted in accordance with the nationwide afforestation policy in the 1970s, are located inside national parks. This study intended to induce a forestation system by which the forests develop into an ecologically healthy and broadleaved ecosystem with broad species diversity. For this, the aspects of natural regeneration of broadleaves from 2010 to 2013 after thinning by density (30%, 50%, and 70%) in 2009 were surveyed using the larch forest in the Woljeong Temple region inside Odaesan National Park. There were no trees that were larger than 2 cm in in diameter at breast height among the trees recently introduced between 2012 and 2013. A significant number of herbs have been introduced to the subsurface alongside young arboreal trees species such as Bumalda bladdernut, Acer triflorum, Cornus controversa etc and shrubs. However, many woody species did not survive the competition with herbs and repeated withering and regeneration. The number of woody species generated within the 30% cutting area was 440 species in 2013 and this figure has been increasing twofold each year. The number of woody plants within the 50% cutting area also showed an upward tendency and most plants did not survive in the competition with herbs and Sasa borealis and withered in only 1 ~ 2 years after generation. Unlike other thinning areas, the 70% cutting area showed 608 broadleaved trees, reflecting a decrease from 748 trees in 2012. This appeared to be attributed to the luxuriance of S. borealis and the sharp increase of fatsia following the inflow of total sunlight to the forest floor. Herbs were hardly generated due to the influence of S. borealis. Regarding the density for thinning at 50% or upper height, the forest treatment division shall maintain a proper density in the course of inducing artificial forestation of larch into natural broadleaved forests considering the luxuriance of sasa borealis and herbs due to the inflow of total sunlight to the forest floor.

Cacalia firma is a perennial plant in Asteraceae, Parasenecio that distributed in Korea, China, and Japan. As dietary style changes for well-being life, consumer's demand of functional food and organic vegetables is getting increased. This study was conducted to investigate the optimum light conditions of P. firmus in forest farming. One year old seedlings were grown under four different light conditions 10%, 20%, 30%, and 50% of sunlight by shading (equals 50%, 30%, 20%, and 10% relative brightness respectively) and non-treated control under full sunlight. They were analyzed for early growth and physiological response. Seedlings grown under 75% shading showed similar height, root growth, and leaf water content to control. However, their leaf length, width, and total leaf area were increased, which caused increased leaf dry weight and total dry weight. Especially, seedlings under 95% shading showed 40% increase in height and more leaf growth and leaf water content, although they had shorter main root length and root collar diameter than control. In addition specific leaf area (SLA) and leaf area ratio (LAR) were higher than control and indicated that they were statistically significant difference from control. Higher SLA refers thinner leaf thickness, higher LAR means larger leaf area. The results indicate seedlings under 95% shading have higher water content, thinner leaf, and wider lightinterception areas. It is plausible that P. firmus is active in chlorophyll activities and carbon dioxide assimilation at even lower light conditions. These results suggest that the optimum light level of P. firmus for artificial cultivation in forest farming ranges from 75~95% shading (20%-10% of relative brightness). When salability as 'sanchae' (wild edible greens) is considered, P. firmus could be cultivated under 75% shading in forest farming and expected to have better taste and higher yield. We suggest these results as basic data of P. firmus for possible forest farming.
Presowing seed treatments used to enhance the rates of germination and afterward seedling emergence have not occasionally shown the same rate in indoor and field. The treatments considering germination mechanism and factors affecting germination must be totally included in indoor experiments so that the results drawn can be reproduced in the field. Seed germination is controlled by Phytochrome-mediated action changed with composition rates of red and far-red lights. Sunlight can penetrate soil into $6{\sim}9\;mm$ depth, which in turn means that seeds having $2{\sim}3\;mm$ in their width may receive the light if soil was covered 3 times over them. The penetrating light, moreover, turns to more far-red light than red light reverse to the sunlight. For germination tests after the artificial presowing seed treatments, therefore, seeds of smaller than 2 mm (< 2 mm), $2{\sim}3\;mm$, and larger than 3 mm (> 3 mm) must be done with incandescent lamp (IL) having more far-red light, with IL or in darkness, and in darkness, respectively. The 96 papers published in 13 Korean scientific journals up to the end of 2003 were analysed on the basis of the above explanation. 91 species were used 147 times as experimental materials; 101 times for < 2 mm seeds, 24 times for $2{\sim}3\;mm$ seeds and 22 times for > 3 mm seeds. If they were analysed as the light sources used for germination tests, correct applications reached more and less than 60% in both $2{\sim}3\;mm$ and > 3 mm seeds but 23% in < 2 mm seeds, conclusionally meaning that when the experimental results in the scientific papers were applied into farming practices, care was taken of their application because most of medicinal plant seeds were very small.

A field experiment was conduted to determine the effects of shading degrees (O: full sunlight, 25, 50 and 75%) on the proximate components, cell wall constituents (CWC), digestibility, water soluble carbohydrates (WSC) and nitrate nitrogen ($NO_3$-N) concentration of grasses grown in forest. For the test different artificial shading houses were established and pasutre species used were orchardgrass, timothy, perennial ryegrass and ladino clover. the experiment was performed at LES in Suwon, 1985 1. Considering proximate components, CWC and digestibility of grasses, ladino clover showed the best quality, and then perennial ryegrass. 2. The contents of crude protein, crude ash, and digestibility of grasses were increased with shadking, regardless of pasture species. As the shading degrees are increased, the contents of crude fibe in orchardgrass, perennial ryegrass and timothy were decreased, while that in ladino clover was increased with shading. 3. Grasses grwon in spring showed higher digestibility than those grwon in summer season. 4. The content of WSC was the highest in perennial ryegrass, and then ladino clover, orchardgrass, and timothy, in that order. Also WSC was decreased as the shading degrees are in creased. 5. The content of $NO_3$-N was the highest in perennial ryegrass, and then orchardgrass, ladino clover and timothy, in that order. Also the $NO_3$-N was significantly increased with higher shading level. In the regression equation between shading degrees and $NO_3$-N ($r^2=0.90^{**},\;r^2=0.95^{**}$), shading degree of 43 to 44% was critical level, causing nitrate poisoning to animal. 6. Considering grass quality, dry matter yield and $NO_3$-N, less than 40% of shading degree (over 60% of full sunlight) was desirable for better grassland improvement, management and utilization in the forest.

This field experiment was conducted to determine the effects of shading degrees (0 : full sunlight, 25, 50 and 75%) on the early growth characteristics and winter survival of grasses. For the test different artificial shading houses were established and pasture species used were orchardgrass, timothy and perennial ryegrass. The experiment was performed at Livestock Experiment Station in Suweon, and sowing date was Aug. 25, 1984. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Generally, root length, new root length, number of new root and tillers of grasses were increased at 0% (full sunlight) of shading, followed by 25, 50 and 75% of shading degrees, in that order. Plant length and leaf elongation, however were increased at 50% of shading, followed by 75, 25 and 0%. 2. The percentage of winter killing of grasses was significantly (P<0.05) increased as the shading degrees increased. Also the percentages of winter killing were 10.1% in orchardgrass, 9.5% in timothy and 14.2% in perennial ryegrass, respectively. 3. A significant negative correlations were observed in the relationship between winter killing and tillers, new root length and number of new root of grasses. However, there were positive correlations between winter killing and plant length or leaf elongation under shading conditions. 4. As the shading degrees are increased by 0, 25, 50 and 75%, the NAR of grasses was tended to be decrease to 10.98, 11.52, 9.81 and 6.12 g/$m^2$/day, in that order. Also there was a negative correlation (r=-0.5943*) between winter killing and NAR of grasses, and NAR of orchardgrass, timothy and perennial ryegrass were 8.58, 8.53 and 11.71 g/$m^2$/day, respectively.
