  • The accuracy of CCD observations obtained at the Korean 1.8m telescope has been studied. Seventeen comparison stars in the vicinity of the cataclysmic variable BG CMi have been measured. The 'artificial' star has been used instead of the 'control' star, what made possible to increase accuracy estimates by a factor of 1.3-2.1 times for 'good' and 'cloudy' nights, respectively. The algorithm of iterative determination of accuracy and weights of few comparison stars contributing to the artificial star, has been presented. The accuracy estimates for 13-mag stars are around $0.^m002$ mag for exposure times of 30 sec.

  • Online reviews written by tourists provide important information for the management and operation of the tourism industry. The star rating of online reviews is a simple quantitative evaluation of a product or service, but it is difficult to reflect the sincere attitude of tourists. There is also an issue; the star rating and review content are not matched. In this study, a star rating prediction model based on online review content was proposed to solve the discrepancy problem. We compared the differences in star ratings and sentiment by continent through sentiment analysis on tourist attractions and hotels written by foreign tourists who visited Korea. Variables were selected through TF-IDF vectorization and sentiment analysis results. Logit, artificial neural network, and SVM(Support Vector Machine) were used for the classification model, and artificial neural network and SVR(Support Vector regression) were applied for the rating prediction model. The online review rating prediction model proposed in this study could solve inconsistency problems and also could be applied even if when there is no star rating.

  • Artificial Intelligence is providing convenience in various fields using big data and deep learning technologies. However, deep learning technology is highly vulnerable to adversarial examples, which can cause misclassification of classification models. This study proposes a method to detect and purification various adversarial attacks using StarGAN. The proposed method trains a StarGAN model with added Categorical Entropy loss using adversarial examples generated by various attack methods to enable the Discriminator to detect adversarial examples and the Generator to purification them. Experimental results using the CIFAR-10 dataset showed an average detection performance of approximately 68.77%, an average purification performance of approximately 72.20%, and an average defense performance of approximately 93.11% derived from restoration and detection performance.

  • As Idol Star has increased, and it has become an all-round entertainer. Male Idol Star have received a great response from public, leading the entertainer. The Beauty images of Idol Star not only reflect ideals, but also are an example of image making. In special, I tried to explain that beauty image of male idol star who was casted "We get Married" was made not only reflect ideals, but also leading the social trends by entertainment industry. Most of male idol star was done natural make-up, but Lee Jun was done with smoky make-up. The hair-style demonstrated a glamorous feeling through an artificial looking style, dyed with various color(Tab. 3 & 5).

  • Initialization problem is defined for indoor mobile robot as a whole process from arrival to normal operation in a new environment. The unstructured environment make the process much more difficult compared to industrial robot in structured environments. We propose a simple and efficient initialization process based on artificial stars on ceiling. Important task points and paths connecting task points are defined based on the corresponding artificial stars. This approach can be used for all kinds of indoor mobile robots with landmarks used for indoor localization.

  • CFD flow simulation of vehicles with open sunroof and passenger window help the automotive OEM(original equipment manufacturer) to identify the low frequency noise levels in the cabin. The lock-in and lock-off phenomena observed in the experimental studies of sunroof buffeting is well predicted by CFD speed sweep calculations over the operating speed range of the vehicle. The trend of the shear layer oscillation frequency with vehicle speed is also well predicted. The peak SPL from the CFD calculation has a good compromise with the experimental value after incorporating the real world effects into the CFD model by means of artificial compressibility and damping correction. The entire process right from modeling to flow analysis as well as acoustic analysis has been performed within the single environment i.e., STAR-CCM+.

  • To understand the connection between active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and star formation, we investigated the relation between AGN bolometric and far-infrared (FIR) luminosities, using type-2 AGNs. By matching type-2 AGNs at z < 0.3 selected from the SDSS based on the emission-line diagnostics, against the AKARI/FIS All-Sky Survey Catalogue and the COSMOS PEP (PACS Evolutionary Probe) Survey Catalogue, we obtained a sample of 729 type-2 AGNs detected in the AKARI survey ($90{\mu}m$) and 17 ones detected in the PEP survey ($100{\mu}m$). For AGN bolometric luminosities, we adopted an estimate based on the [OIII] and [OI] line luminosities. We confirmed that there is a correlation between the AGN bolometric and FIR luminosities with a large scatter, which is consistent with previous studies. However, we claim that this correlation suffers from various artificial effects, e.g., FIR detection limits, survey volumes, and so on. We will discuss the limitations of studying the connection between AGN and star formation using currently available facilities.

  • Hydro-acoustic survey was carried out to investigate the spatial characteristics of fish distribution near two artificial reefs (AO: large octagonal semi-sphere and AC: combined custom built) having different types in Jeju marine ranching area. The survey system consisted of scientific echo sounder (EK60), DGPS system, and ECDIS (Mecys). Field survey was conducted on August and October 2012 with star survey and line transect survey line method, and species composition was investigated from gill net fishing survey. The acoustic signals from individual fishes and small fish schools were mainly recorded around AO, but large and strong signals from large fish school were mainly detected in the top layer of and the water column near AC. The echogram suggest that the fish aggregation for the two types of AO and AC exist the significant difference in fish species and spatial distribution pattern.

  • In the 21st century, the rapid development of automation and artificial intelligence technologies is driving innovative changes in various industrial sectors. In the transportation industry, this is evident with the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Moreover research into autonomous navigation technologies is actively underway in the aviation and maritime sectors. Consequently, for the practical implementation of autonomous ships, an effective collision avoidance algorithm has become a crucial element. Therefore, this study proposes a collision avoidance algorithm based on the Obstacle Zone by Target(OZT), which visually represents areas with a high likelihood of collisions with other ships or obstacles. The A-star algorithm was utilized to represent obstacles on a grid and assess collision risks. Subsequently, a collision avoidance algorithm was developed that performs fuzzy control based on calculated waypoints, allowing the vessel to return to its original course after avoiding the collision. Finally, the validity of the proposed algorithm was verified through collision avoidance simulations in various encounter scenarios.

  • Many service robots which is interacting with human at home and in buildings have been developed. Few of them are shown in of the United States and of Japan. These robots are supposed to have a powerful indoor navigation performance in places where human beings live and work. The overall capability of service robots to move around in this environment is called environment correspondence, in which localization problem to find the accurate position and orientation is the most critical problem. While users set up a proper or a best environment for industrial robots, but for services robots at home and in buildings, it is very difficult to change the environment for robots. The expanded workspace due to mobility is difficult to be covered by means of those used for industrial robots because the cost increases and human beings do not want their environment to be changed for robots. This fact has made many researchers study efficient and effective environment correspondence problems. Among these problems, localization is the most difficult. Goal of localization study includes (1) Accurate detection of position and orientation (2) Minimum cost of the additional devices (3) Minimum change of human environment. In this study, as a solution of the above, we propose "Artificial Stars" which are attached on room ceiling as landmarks. In addition, we solve an adoption problem raised when a robot is delivered to a customer site and before it can perform its full navigation capability. We call this as "Initialization Problem" of service robots. We solve the initialization problem for both cases of environment with the map and without map. The proposed system is experimented and has shown how well it handles the initialization problem.
