갯닦기 전후 제주도 인공어초의 해조상 및 수심별 감태의 생장양상 (Marine Algal Assemblages on Artifical Reefs in Jeju-do Before and After Rocky Cleaning and the Growth Pattern of Ecklonia cava with Water Depth)

  • Marine algal assemblages on the artificial reefs at three stations (Haengwon, Geumneung, Pyoseon in Jeju-do) and the growth pattern of Ecklonia cava with water depth were studied before and after rocky cleaning. Nine algal species occurred at three artificial reefs before rocky cleaning in July 2012, however, 19 algal species were found at three artificial reefs after rocky cleaning in July 2013. In particular, 13 of 19 species in 2013 were replaced by different species which were not found in July 2012. Algal biomass rapidly increased in July 2013 after rocky cleaning. The nMDS plot based on the presence and absence data of macro-algal assemblages on the artificial reefs showed that the species compositions between artificial reefs were similar to each other before rocky cleaning operations in July of 2012. However, after rocky cleaning, the species composition of macro-algal assemblages in Haengwon region was similar to that in Pyoseon region while that in Geumneung region was different to those in Haengwon and Pyseon regions in July 2013. It is needed to clarify the suitable water depth for transplantation of perennial Phaeophyta E. cava. According to the data on seasonal changes in total length, total weight, blade length, blade width, blade weight of E. cava, it began to grow rapidly from April and reached to the maximum value in June, and then degeneration of the blade occurred in July and continued to early August. Although the total length of E. cava at 10m water depth was larger than those at 5 m and 15 m water depths, there was no significant difference statistically among water depths by ANOVA test. However, in the values of total weight, blade length, blade width, and blade weight, the growth patterns at 5 m water depth were larger than those at 10 m and 15 m. Thus, it is assumed that the most suitable water depth for transplantation and its maximum growth and effective release of zoospores of E. cava will be 7~10 m water depth.

  • 초고층강제어초(VEry High-rise Steel Artificial Reef, VEHSAR)의 형상 표현과 해석을 위해서 3차원 모델링 프로그램을 Windows 95(또는 Windows NT) 환경하에서 MFC(Microsoft Foundation Class)를 기반으로 한 Visual C++로 개발하였다. 컴퓨터를 통해 미리 초고층 강제어초 건조를 실제와 같이 구현해 봄으로써 문제점의 사전 예측 및 대책 수립 등을 가능케 하는 저비용 고효율의 일관설계시스템을 구축하는 것을 목표로 하는 이 프로그램은 객체지향프로그램 기법과 CAD/CAM기술의 도입으로 생산성 향상이 기대되며, OpenGL이라는 그래픽 라이브러리를 도입하여 좀더 빠른 고화질의 3차원 그래픽을 화면상에 나타나게 할 수 있다.

강원도 해역에 시설된 인공어초의 보존상태 (Stability of Artificial Reefs Installed in Gangwon Coastal Waters of the East Sea (Sea of Japan))

  • Stability and durability of the artificial reefs (ARs) installed for wildstock enhancement have been a key issue. We surveyed the stability of 4,044 artificial reefs installed at 5 sites (Gangeung, Donghae, Samcheok, Goseong. and Yangyang) along the Gangwon coast of the East Sea (Sea of Japan) through which 1 to 5 typhoons pass annually. The ARs surveyed were 7 types aging 1 to 4 years. The side scan sonar (SSS) and scuba diving surveys confirmed that the ARs stability was age and type-dependent. A total of 85.56% ARs remained safe. the rest 14.44% being influenced by physical parameters of the waters such as wave extremes mostly caused by typhoons. An interesting observation was that the AR were particulatly vulnerable to the wave extremes in the first year of installation, thereafter being less damageable. Representative damages of the ARs were capsized (0.20%). broken (5.79%), sunk (0.27%), and buried (8.18%). By type, dice reef was most stable. while semicircle branch reef was most vulnerable.

  • Many artificial steel reefs are being built in Japan, however, in Korea, only few steel reefs were manufactured by POSCO, recently. In order to develop their novel types suitable for marine environments near the Korean Peninsula, it is very important to carry out model tests in the initial design stage. In the Ocean Engineering Wide Tank($L{\times}B{\times}D=30{\times}20{\times}2.5m$) and the Circulating Water Channel of the University of Ulsan, Korea, fluid drag forces acting on models of steel reefs with different sizes are measured in waves and currents. Also numerical predictions based on the Wavier-Stokes equation are made and compared with experimental results.

퇴적물의 입도 및 전단강도를 이용한 인공어초 침하특성 (Subsidence Characteristics of Artificial Reefs using Sediment Grain Size and Shear Strength)

  • 통영 및 장승포 지역에 설치된 인공어초의 침하특성을 조사하기 위해서 중력시추기를 이용한 해저 퇴적물 채취와 탄성파 탐사기 및 측면 주사 음향 탐지기를 이용한 인공어초의 상태를 조사하였다. 퇴적물 시료는 실험실에서 입도 및 전단강도에 대한 측정이 이루어 졌고 탄성파 자료는 음향 특성에 따라 그 특징을 해석하였다. 탄성파 자료를 분석한 결과 연구지역에 광범위하게 분포하고 있는 퇴적층에 인공어초가 어느 정도 침하되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 측면 주사 음향 탐지기의 영상을 분석한 결과 대부분의 인공어초들은 군집 혹은 서로 중첩되어 분포하고 있는 것으로 나타나서 음향자료를 이용한 인공어초의 상태를 전반적으로 파악할 수 있었다. 획득된 주상시료 분석 결과 평균 입도 5${\sim}$9${\Phi}$이며, 전단강도는 1${\sim}$5kPa를 보였다. 평균 입도의 경우 정점별로 수직적인 값의 변화는 작은 반면, 전단강도 값은 평균 입도에 비해 깊이가 깊어질수록 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 특히, 전단강도 값은 퇴적층 깊이 약 20${\sim}$40cm에서 갑자기 증가하는데 이것은 조사 지역에서 실시한 잠수조사 결과를 바탕으로 인공어초의 침하깊이 20${\sim}$30cm와 거의 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 조사 지역의 경우 전단강도 값이 약 2${\sim}$3kPa 이상을 가지는 곳에서는 침하 현상이 거의 일어나지 않거나 아주 느리게 일어나고 있는 것으로 사료된다. 본 조사 지역과 같이 니질의 함량이 높고 입도가 유사한 경우에도 퇴적 과정 혹은 퇴적물 특성의 차이나 퇴적 후의 속성 작용에 의한 전단강도 값의 증가를 기대할 수 있으며, 또한 인공어초의 종류와 크기, 무게, 형태 등에 따른 해저면의 침하 특성도 다를 수 있기 때문에 향후 보다 종합적인 요인에 대한 분석이 이루어진다면 연약 지반 해역에 대한 인공어초의 시설 대상 범위는 지금보다 더 확대될 것으로 판단된다.

인공어초 개발을 위한 재생골재 콘크리트의 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Recycled Aggregate Concrete for Artificial Fishing Reefs)

  • The mechanical characteristics of newly recycled aggregate concrete on the basis of the proposed mix design model have been studied to develop the precast artificial fishing reefs. In the first task, the experimental test for the recycled aggregates taken from Jeju Island has been carried out to verify the material properties in terms of specific gravity, percentage of solids, absorption and abrasion of coarse aggregates. In the second task, the experimental parameters of newly recycled aggregate concrete are investigated to meet with the requirements of guidelines with respect to slump, unit weight, pH, ultrasonic velocity, void ratio, and compressive strength which are made of sea-shore sand ad slag cement. The natural aggregate and polypropylene fiber are added to newly recycled aggregate concrete to improve the compressive strength and quality. The optimal mix proportions for compressive strength are W/C=30%, S/a=15%, NA/G=50% in porous concrete case, W/C=40%, S/a=45% in plain concrete case, and W/C=40%, S/a-45%, PF=1.0kg/㎥ in fiber reinforced concrete case.

제주 바다목장 해역의 인공어초에 유집된 어군 분포의 공간적 특성 (Spatial characteristics of fish distribution lured by artificial reefs in Jeju marine ranching area)

  • Hydro-acoustic survey was carried out to investigate the spatial characteristics of fish distribution near two artificial reefs (AO: large octagonal semi-sphere and AC: combined custom built) having different types in Jeju marine ranching area. The survey system consisted of scientific echo sounder (EK60), DGPS system, and ECDIS (Mecys). Field survey was conducted on August and October 2012 with star survey and line transect survey line method, and species composition was investigated from gill net fishing survey. The acoustic signals from individual fishes and small fish schools were mainly recorded around AO, but large and strong signals from large fish school were mainly detected in the top layer of and the water column near AC. The echogram suggest that the fish aggregation for the two types of AO and AC exist the significant difference in fish species and spatial distribution pattern.

인공어초용 재생골재 콘크리트의 최적 배합설계 모델 (Optimal Mix Design Model of Recycled Aggregate Concrete for Artificial fishing Reefs)

  • The Purpose of this study is to recycle the waste concrete, which is generated in huge quantities, from construction works. in order to achieve this goal, it is important to determine the compressive strength, workability, slump, and ultrasonic velocity of recycled aggregate concrete. Thus, several experiment parameters are considered, such as water-cement ratios, sand percentage, and fine aggregate composition ratios, in order to apply the recycled aggregate concrete to pre-cast artificial fishing reefs. From the results, it has been shown that the proper mix designs for reef concrete are W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SR50:SN50 in recycled sand and natural sand mix combination case, W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SC50:SN50 in crushed sand and natural sand mix combination case, W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SR50:SC50 in recycled sand and crushd sand mix combination case. Also, this study shows that the shape and surface roughness of fine aggregate particles have an effect on the strength, slump, ultrasonic velocity of tested concrete, and the compressive strength ratios of 7days' and 90days' curing ages of recycled aggregate concrete are about 70% and 110% of 28days' curing age.

Algal Succession on Different Substrata Covering the Artificial Iron Reef atIkata in Shikoku, Japan

  • Succession of artificial seaweed communities in an artificial iron reef at Ikata, southern Japan was studied based on monthly or bimonthly observations from February 1999 to August 2000. Communities were associated with different substrata (40 cm x 60 cm: steel, concrete, wood and stone) as the cover on artificial iron reefs (4.5 m x 4.1 m x 2.5 m, 45.38 m3 and 3.2 ton), which were placed on a sandy substratum at 8 m depth. Within one month diatoms dominated on all substrata with cover of approximately 100%. Enteromorpha intestinalis and Colpomenia sinuosa dominated on the reef within three months after the placement in the spring. Seaweed communities on the reef decreased during the summer. In the winter, the seaweeds on the reef recovered. Sargassum spp., Ecklonia kurome and Padina arborescens dominated on each substratum after one year. Seaweed communities on the artificial reef were similar to those on the rocky substratum around the artificial reef and also similar on different substrata covering the iron artificial reef. These results indicate that seaweed succession was impacted by season and the recruitment of spores and propagules from mature algae around the artificial reefs.
