The change of society causes the change of art necessarily. The experiments of plastic art which as been done by avant-garde movements at early 20th century have pursued ″Object drama″ consistently as trials of more or less abstract drama. As these plastic arts have used genre or media like circuses, sports, variate, films, screen play, newspapers and a quick method which had not been considered suitable for conventional aesthetic plastic arts, these arts looked provocative and, these provocative plastic arts have ignored universality shown in conventional arts and have caused extreme ″sensation″ accordingly. As a result, abstract art based on style which is against aestheticism and naturalism has been generalized. This style does not deny customary laws of art wholly but it requires new concept. Having ignored traditional styles, a new compositive and responsive way of composition which does not deviate from tradition has been pursued. A new and general understanding of arts which do not deny all conventionally-effective standards extremely has been developed. In this regard, this study analyzes characteristics of Bauhaus Theater which has tried to apply new technology engineering to plastic art as an integrated concept of art and technology amongst the directions of development of provocation, innovation and revolution in case of the plastic art of stage painting, and analyzes how this influences on modern painting in terms of avant-garde arts reviewing the meaning of this theory.

This paper aims from various angles to examine the context of the problem situations that Jang Woo-Jae describes from contemporary korean society, to examine which chance of thinking is in this case given to the audience, and to examine whether through the plays in the theater this chance of thinking can be referred to public opinion. This study considers not only the contribution of Jang's thought experiment that is connected to the dramaturgical function including the aspects of dramatic form and content to dramatic effects for the audience, but also the possibility of an arrangement for a new way of thinking by the audience. Thus, Jang's thought experiment should be understood in connection with the whole message of his plays. And this study researches, how an new attention to the public nature of common world, which should be demanded for the sake of a mature civil society comes into existence within the point of contention in every play based on Jang's thought experiment. Finally this paper inspects through Jang's plays the possibility of contribution of performing art to contemporary korean society, and takes account of self-examination in meta-dimension of the theater regarding the role and meaning for the sake of human being and gemeinschaft.

This study examines the modern succession, transformation and significance of enjoyment methods of classical literature (art) with a focus on the characteristics of those methods that appeared when the performances of the traditional era began to be displayed on the stage of the theaters in modern Seoul. The clues to the reasons for this type of enjoyment can be found in newspapers, magazine articles, and advertisements from the early 20th century. The emergence of stage theaters at the beginning of the modern era caused a sweeping change in the performance environment, including the fact that it was possible for all kinds of people to enjoy art beyond the existing socioeconomic hierarchies or barriers of status, that the performers were given employment through the theater, and that the audience had the tendency of the general public of an unspecified number because the audience was able to see the performances only by paying the viewing fee. The way of enjoying traditional performances also changed based on these new adaptations: the performances were sequential, show-oriented, and re-contextualized as public performances. It is significant that in the traditional era, performers and audiences had been segregated according to their status and a strict hierarchy; now, such cultural norms were breaking down in favor of a kind of equality. In addition, it was possible for the audience to experience sensory enjoyment, and theater brought about a new kind of popular consumer enjoyment of an artistic product. Of course, though, it is possible to look back and find problems related to the contemporary context, but the traditional performances, which were the main performances for the lower class, took the first place on the modern theater stage, and as a result, no one can deny that it became possible to move forward in the first phase of an era of public performance.
This paper examines the tradition discourses in Korean modern drama of the late 19th and the early 20th. It focuses particularly on how key intellectuals differentiated the definition and interpreted 'Theater-Improvement' while they insisted on improving traditional performance. Tradition discourse focused on how to improve its contents of performances. There were three categories in discussion. First, Confucian intelligent insisted that traditional performance should be discarded, because it led to customs disorder among the public. Second, patriotic and progressive intellectuals led by Sin Chae-Ho(신채호) and Bak Yen-Sik(박은식), preferred the reformed content of traditional Korean performance dealing with historical heroes. in order to stimulate patriotism in the Korean. Third, Lee In-Jik(이인직) who had worked at a popular newspaper company in Japan tried to make 'New Theater' criticizing decayed officials and the stupid nation. He did not concern about the colonialism of Japan. In the late 19th and the early 20th in Korean modern drama history, tradition discourses faced different directions, dependent on their political positions, familiar foreign cultures, and their view on traditional cultures.

In 21st century, theater evolves into a complex aspects. Advanced visual media, such as photography and movies has brought crisis to theater's position, and that crisis led contemporary theater seek for distinctive strategy by repeatedly pondering over the format in which it can be more competitive than other arts. And postdramatic theatre is one of distinctive characteristics of this trend in contemporary theater. Among these flows, The aim of thesis is to study the phenomenon of postdramatic theatre and its practical application in the recently performed (2019) by Theater Group "Mul-Kyul". (2019) puts the body at the front, one of the features of the postdramatic theatre. When creating stage, or developing narratives, the process of characterization, or even highlighting dramatic themes, non-verbal focused theatrical expressions hold a dominant position over verbal expressions. Also, by combining various non-verbal elements like object, with body language, it builds a complex Scenography and creates a metaphorical expression. In this regards, I would like to classify the postdramatic theatre phenomenon shown in the (2019) into 'Disorganization of text through Scenography' and 'Collage of Body Language and Object' and consider its characteristics and meanings.
The main purpose of this study was to use semantic network analysis to examine the international trend of arts management and other studies pertinent to this field. The subject was based on 357 keywords listed on the abstract of 185 research papers in the International Journal of Arts Management. To examine the most current trends of arts management based studies the time frame was restricted from 2008 to 2017. To briefly summarize the result, first, 'museum' was the most frequently appeared keyword. This was followed by 'performing arts' and 'arts' with more than 20 appearances. 'Motion picture industry' and 'theater' were the next frequently appeared keywords. 'Customer behavior' and 'market strategy', keywords related to management, were also included in the high ranked group along with art related keywords. Second, yearly research trend shows that arts management has been regularly studied for past ten years with average of 19 research papers with about 53 keywords. Keywords such as 'museum' and 'performing arts' has been regularly studied for past ten years. 'Culture', 'theater' and 'motion pictures industry' does not regularly appear in the result of yearly research trend but nevertheless they have sparsely made an appearance along the past decade. 'Art gallery' has not been cited till 2011 but from 2012 it was regularly and continuously made an appearance in the yearly research trend. Overall, the yearly trend result shows that the trend of international arts management studies within IJAM, was at first centered on fine arts but as the time passed there has been diversified keywords related to management. Third, 'performing art' and 'art' has the highest link frequency(34). Fourth, density result was 0.039 which shows that the keyword density is not very high. Fifth, 'art', 'performing art', 'museum', 'theater' and 'brand' were positioned in the middle when looking at the visualized version of centrality result. This means that these five keywords has the highest centrality among other keywords.
This article examined that the historical changes and current significance of the Jaedam(재담) and the Xiangsheng(相聲), one of the traditional Korean and Chinese language games. Both Korean Jaedam and Chinese Xiangsheng are representative language games and traditional performing arts for laughing. The origin of the Jaedam can be traced back to Uheui(우희). Uheui has been called Changyouxi in China, Bae Woo-hee, and Jo Hee in Korea. Uheui is the most traditional language game and a variety of performances were derived from its spreading and inheriting process. Among them, Korean Jaedam and Chinese Xiangsheng can be said to be a piece of art that has successfully inherited Uheui tradition. From the late 18th century, Korean Jaedam were established as independent performance arts, and became highly active in many performance by professional joker Park Chun-jae and other performers. With the development of gramophone record in the early 20th century, the Jaedam was mainly made on the theater stage and radio. At this time, the new performance art of 'Mandam(만담)' was derived from the Jaedam, which focused more on satire current events and criticizing the social situation. Mandam has been popular for a long time and then extinct in the 21st century. The jaedam have been handed down only in the Korean traditional performance so far. Meanwhile, Chinese Xiangsheng, which was built in the mid-19th century, a bit later than Korean Jaedam, was initially considered to be a vulgar art of the lower class, but finally became popular in the early 20th century. In the mid-20th century, Xiangsheng was transformed into a new character, which mainly deals with social praise and edification of the masses. But since 'New Xiangsheng' does not focous on a satire on social conditions, the humor has been reduced. In the early 21st century, Xiangsheng was on the verge of extinction just like Mandam, but through the efforts of young actors to revive tradition, another reformation of this art was made to return to tradition and small theater. Currently, the 'traditional Xiangsheng', which has returned to tradition, is once again receiving the love and support of the Chinese audience. Korean Jaedam and Chinese Xiangsheng have many similarities in terms of history and recruitment, but they are now in different fates. There is also a great deal in common ground in terms of the content and form of the two arts. In the case of Xiangsheng, it is one of the traditional folk art forms which is still loved by the Chinese people and has become one of the most important traditional performances. On the other hand, in Korea, Jaedam as independent performance arts has disappeared and now only can be seen in traditional performances such as 'Korean mask theater'. The fact that Korean Jaedam and Chinese Xiangsheng have undergone similar changes in their spreading and inheriting process, while Korean Jaedam have disappeared and Chinese Xiangsheng is well preserved. The reason can be confirmed through the main idea of this article.
This article analyzes the exhibition of the experience for the children using the performance of the at the National Theater Performing Arts Museum. The important part of an exhibition or educational program for children should be a program that can be communicated so that the child can develop the strength to think for himself / herself as a 'subject' rather than a 'target' of the program. The purpose of this article is to analyze the case of exhibitions that solved the 'make-up' part of the performance stage by linking the performance of the concert with the experience in mind. In addition, I would like to take an opportunity to look at the case of how the performance of , which was the theme of this exhibition, was utilized as an exhibition and what kind of experiences it was composed of, and to think about the better direction of children's experience exhibition in connection with the performance.
This article was started to find a way for creating a performance out of Gut. In order to find such way, the first thing that had to be done was to organize the Gut performances that had been made until now. It was to organize the existing study on the performances and to seek a different way from it, believing that the virtue of a performance is to 'create diversity'. However, it was not easy to organize the Gut performances, which became full-scale in the 1980s, because they were never organized before. Therefore, based on my direct and indirect experience, I have organized the most important performances in chronological order. Most importantly, as the planners of the performances (can sometimes be a group or an organization instead of an individual) are the ones who make the show possible, I have noted on them with keen interest. The National Folk Art Performance Contests in Korea, Theater 'Space Sarang', The Association of Gut, Theater 'Madangsesil', Seoul Nori Madang, and National Gugak center were the center space and planning body of the Gut performances. Recording the history of Gut is a worthwhile work of its own. However, it is a substantial amount of task to be done with individual effort, and it has to be progressed as a public project in order to promote and spread its value. Therefore, this article raises the need for it. Meanwhile, as stated earlier, this article has recorded the history of Gut performances as a precondition to finding a way to create a performance out of Gut. From the experimental organization of the Gut performances history, I could find out that most of the performances had the people who did Gut as the main body and the method of the Gut performance did not significantly deviate from just reenacting the original Gut at the time of when it was performed. Therefore, I have introduced Shinmyeong, the Nori-Pae (troupe), and TheGwangdae, the Korean Traditional Performance troupe, who create Madangguk from various Gut materials. By refining the wholly complicated performance elements of the Gut, it could escape from the 'reenacting' performance to becoming a material or a metaphor for a whole new performance.
This research analyzed which average comparisons and differences between groups' view motive and selection for information sources, product properties with theater animation spectator. Based on view frequency, each of groups' organization were classified to heavy, occasional, and thinly viewers. As average comparison analysis result, firstly, view motive appeared in order to "want to see animation", "to spend time and leisure activity", "to enjoy fun activity", and "because of others canvassing or recommendation", etc. Secondly, view selection for information source appeared in order to "rumor circumstance or reputation", "theater or TV previews", "internet evaluation and grade", etc. At last, view selection for practical property appeared in order to "story", "character", "special effects", "background music", "background art", "director/directing", "manufacturer/nation", and "dubbing of artist". As difference between group result, view motive and selection for product properties appeared significant differences between each of group. To the contrary, view selection for information sources did not appeared significant differences between each of group.
