EXPERIMENTAL DEMONSTRATION OF ADVANTAGE OF MOTION INDUCED SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADIOMETER

  • Aperture synthesis with platform motion has been presented as a useful tool to achieve the high spatial resolution imaging. Using a motion induced synthetic aperture radiometer (MISAR), a passive microwave image can be achieved with a small number of antennas. Moreover, the MISAR is capable of imaging better than the case without motion, using the same configuration of antenna array. With a platform motion, visibility can be sampled more efficiently, and as a result the imaging performance of the MISAR shows higher quality than the case without platform motion. In this paper, the advantage of MISAR is demonstrated experimentally. Using a laboratory model of inteferometric radiometer, the point source images are obtained under the condition with platform motion and without platform motion. In the experimental results, the point source response of the MISAR shows better quality of sidelobe level and beam efficiency than the case without platform motion.

Equivalent Circuit Design of Broadband 90° Phase Shifter (광대역 90° 위상 변이기의 등가 회로 설계)

  • A novel, simple and broadband $90^{\circ}$ phase shifter was proposed and fabricated by the LTCC process. It is composed of a $180^{\circ}$ transmission line between two $90^{\circ}$ shorted transmission lines. Design equations for the proposed $90^{\circ}$ phase shifter are derived by the method of admittance parameter analysis. Based on design equations, $90^{\circ}$ phase shifter was designed and fabricated to operate in the C-band with ${\pm}2^{\circ}$ of phase deviation.

A study on the tunning properties of BST-MgO thick film (BST-MgO 강유전체 후막의 가변 튜닝 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, tunable dielectric materials are important for resonator, variable capacitor, phased array antenna and other devices application. In this paper, Dielectric constant increased and tuning range increased with the increased of $BaSrTiO_3/Li_{2}CO_{3}$ content, which probably can be explained by the substitution of Ba3+, Li1+ on BaTiO3 lattice. The tunability and dielectric loss of the $BaSrTiO_2/Li_{2}CO_{3}$ thick film, sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$, were about 43 % and 0.234 at 10$\sim$15 MHz, respectively. In case of BaSrTi/MgO, Dielectric constant decreased and tenability increased with the added of $BaSrTiO_3/MgO$. The ferroelectrics properties were distinct when adding Li to BST ceramic thick film, and paraelectrics pattern was distinct when adding Mg.

  • Identification of communication channels is a problem of important current theoretical and practical concerns. Recently proposed solutions for this problem exploit the diversity induced by antenna array or time oversampling. The method resorts to an adaptive filter with a linear constraint. In this paper, an approach is proposed that is based on decomposition. Indeed, the eigenvector corresponding to the minimum eigenvalue of the covariance matrix of the received signals contains the channel impulse response. And we present an adaptive algorithm to solve this problem. Proposed technique shows the better performance than one of existing algorithms.

  • We propose a beam selection algorithm that improves inter sector SIR using a code-book of a circular array antenna in multi-sector wireless mesh network environments. The proposed method improves SIR using a combination of fed back code-book and guarantees QoS of all nodes. Computer simulation exhibits the proposed scheme demonstrates 4.42dB higher SIR than that of the conventional code-book method, QoS with proportional fair is improved by 1.70dB and fact that all nodes are satisfied Qos is also shown.

  • $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Ca_x)TiO_3 + yAl_2O_3$ wt% (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20, y=0~3.0) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method, and their structural and dielectric properties were investigated with variation of composition ratio and $Al_2O_3$ doping content. As results of the X-ray diffraction and microstructure analysis, all BSCT specimens showed dense and homogeneous structure without presence of the second phase. The sintered density was decreased with an increase of $Al_2O_3$ doping content. The Curie temperature and relative dielectric constant at room temperature were decreased with increasing $Al_2O_3$doping content. The dielectric loss is minimum at BSCT doped with 1.5wt% $Al_2O_3$content. The tunability was decreased with increasing an Ca content and the BSCT(50/40/10) specimen doped with 2.0wt% $Al_2O_3$content showed the maximum value of 4.2%.

  • In this paper, the DoA(Direction of Arrival) estimator using unitary MUSIC algorithm is studied. The complex-valued correlation matrix of MUSIC algorithm is transformed to the real-valued one using unitary transform for easy implementation. The eigenvalue and eigenvector are obtained by the combined Jacobi-CORDIC algorithm. CORDIC algorithm can be implemented by only ADD and SHIFT operations and MUSIC spectrum computed by 256 point DFT algorithm. Results of unitary MUSIC algorithm designed by System Generator for FPGA implementation is entirely consistent with Matlab results. Its performance is evaluated through hardware co-simulation and resource estimation.

  • An ultrawide band (UWB) signal model is proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrivals of the signals arrived in clusters at an UWB receiver for a short-range, high-speed, indoor wireless communication system in an elliptical scattering environment. And a new estimation technique is proposed by modifying the conventional MUSIC algorithm. By using this estimation technique, the estimates of the two unknown parameter sets, angle-of-arrivals and distribution parameters, are obtained with the proposed UWB signal model. The proposed UWB signal model and estimation technique are verified through computer simulations in an ultrawide band communication environment.

A 3D Ray-Tracing Propagation Model for Analyses on the Indoor Polarization Diversity Scheme (3차원 광선 추적법을 이용한 실내 환경에서의 편파 다이버시티 성능 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper to evaluate the performance of the polarization diversity and the space diversity in the indoor environment, we used 3D Ray-tracing simulation. This model is capable of predicting small scale fading characteristics of the channel for evaluating the performances of both the polarization and the space diversity scheme. The measurement and simulation results show that the polarization diversity and the space diversity are expected to be efficiently used for the indoor environments. Moreover, the results show that the proposed polarization diversity technique using directional dual polarization microstrip array antennas has more diversity gain than the conventional polarization and space diversity using dipole antenna.

  • This paper address the statistical charateristics of MUSIC algorithm which is suggested as satellite direction finding algorithm. If the MUSIC algorithm is adopted as a satellite direction detection method in mobile TT&C system, then the statistical performance of the MUSIC algorithm will be closely related with the overall performance of the system. So statistical characteristics of the parameter in the respect of SNR and data length are addressed and then analyse the final effects to the satellite direction finding.
