To be investigated and measures to reduce the medical exposure of patients to change the Epidural Injection time Fluoroscopy Pulse Rate in this study. Was conducted in 50 patients who underwent surgery Epidural Injection performed by interventional care of Konkuk University Hospital from January to April 2013. The treatment time with the change of Pulse rate, is measured in minutes fluoroscopy time, and measured the area dose (${\mu}Gym^2$) and depth dose (mGy). Using the Image J program, to measure the PSNR and SNR. The fluoroscopy time as a result surgery, there was no significance in the statistical analysis, and depth dose is 34.3 to 34.9%, was reduced from 35.8 to 38.7% the area dose. It is possible to reduce the appropriate Pulse rate, to reduce the dose without statistical analysis significance fluoroscopy time.
Radiation side effects and complications on the ocular adnexa during electron beam therapy for orbital lymphoma can increase the incidence of posterior subcapsular cataracts. This study simulated a medical linear accelerator and a mathematical model of the eye using monte carlo simulations to evaluate the dose to the ocular adnexa and compare the shielding effectiveness on different parts of the ocular adnexa based on lens shield thickness. The dose assessment results of the ocular adnexa showed that the lens's sensitive area had the highest absorbed dose distribution when no shield was used, followed by the lens's non-sensitive area, the anterior chamber, vitreous humor, cornea, and eyelid in descending order. With the use of a shield, a 2 mm thick shield demonstrated a dose reduction effect of over 90% in the lens's sensitive area, over 83% in the non-sensitive area and anterior chamber, and a dose reduction effect of 30 to 62% in the vitreous body, cornea, and eyelid. For dose reduction in the lens's sensitive area during electron beam therapy for orbital lymphoma, it is necessary to use a shield of at least 2 mm thickness. Additionally, shielding strategies considering the thickness and area of the shield for other ocular adnexa besides the lens are required.

The calculation of dose distribution in multiple arc stereotactic radiotherapy is a three-dimensional problem and, therefore, the three-dimensional dose calculation algorithm is important and the algorithm's accuracy and reliability should be confirmed experimentally. The aim of this study is to verify the dose distribution of stereotactic radiosurgery experimentally and to investigate the effect of the beam quality, the number of arcs of radiation, and the tertiary collimation on the resulting dose distribution. Film dosimetry with phantom measurements was done to get the three-dimensional orthogonal isodose distribution. All experiments were carried out with a 6 MV X-ray, except for the study of the effects of beam energy on dose distribution, which was done for X-ray energies of 6 and 15 MV. The irradiation technique was from 4 to 11 arcs at intervals of from 15 to 45 degrees between each arc with various field sizes with additional circular collimator. The dose distributions of square field with linear accelerator collimator compared with the dose distributions obtained using circular field with tertiary collimator. The parameters used for comparing the results were the shape of the isodose curve, dose fall-offs fom $90\%$ to $50\%$ and from $90\%\;to\;20\%$ isodose line for the steepest and shallowest profile, and $A=\frac{90\%\;isodose\;area}{50\%\;isodose\;area-90\%\;isodose\;area}$(modified from Chierego). This ratio may be considered as being proportional to the sparing of normal tissue around the target volume. The effect of beam energy in 6 and 15 MV X-ray indicated that the shapes of isodose curves were the same. The value of ratio A and the steepest and shallowest dose fall-offs for 6 MV X-ray was minimally better than that for 15 MV X-ray. These data illustrated that an increase in the dimensions of the field from 10 to 28 mm in diameter did not significantly change the isodose distribution. There was no significant difference in dose gradient and the shape of isodose curve regardless of the number of arcs for field sizes of 10, 21, and 32 mm in diameter. The shape of isodose curves was more circular in circular field and square in square field. And the dose gradient for the circular field was slightly better than that for the square field.
This study developed education contents of measuring spatial dose with virtual reality simulation and applied to students majoring radiological science. The virtual reality(VR) contents with measuring spatial dose rate in the radiation controlled area was developed based on the simulation from pilot study. In this simulation, the tube voltage and tube current can be set from 60 to 120 kVp in 10 kVp steps and 10 to 40 mAs in 10 mAs increments, and the distance from source can be set from 30 to 400 cm continuously. Iron and lead shields can be placed between the source and the detector, and shielding thickness can be set by 1 mm increments ranging from 1 to 20 mm. We surveyed to students for evaluating improvement of understanding spatial dose rate between before and after education by VR simulation. The survey was conducted with 5 questions(X-ray exposure factors, effects by distance from the source, effects from using shield, depending on material and thickness of shield, concept and measuring of spatial dose rate) and all answers showed significant improvement. Therefore, this VR simulation content will be well used in education for spatial dose rate and radiation safety environments.
In an attempt to clarity the effect of X-irradiation on the activity of surfactant in rabbits, and also to observe the possible difference when the irradiation was made in single or fractionated dose, X-ray in dose of 900 r was irradiated to rabbits either in single or fractionated dose of 300 r each day for three day, Tension-area diagram of lung extract was recorded automatically by a modified Langmuir-Wilhelmy balance with a synchronized recording system designed in this department. The surface tension of lung extract was measured at 1,3,5,24, and 48 hours post-irradiation, and the results were compared with the non-irradiated normal group. The result obtained are summerized as follows: 1) The maximal surface tension, minimal surface tension, width of the tension-area diagram at the surface area of 40% in lung extract, and stability index of the normal rabbit lung extracts were 40.73 dynes/cm, 8.96 dynes/cm. 20.71 dynes/cm, and 1.28 respectively. 2) Activity of surfactant was significantly depressed by X-irradiation, and the pattern of depression was more prominent in the single irradiation group than in the fractionated group. 3) It was found that the changes of the width of the tension-area diagram at the surface area of 40% in lung extract and stability indices corresponded well with that of the maximal or minimal surface tension.

Although pediatric X-ray examinations are continuously increasing, there are not many studies on the radiation exposure to children and X-ray examination assistants according to X-ray Exposure conditions. Accordingly, we measured the radiation exposure dose of pediatric and X-ray examination assistants according to the standard guidelines and clinical average X-ray Exposure conditions when X-ray examination 10-year-old children. The effective dose and organ dose to pediatric were measured using an Dose area production meter and Monte Carlo-based PCXMC program, and the exposure dose of X-ray examination assistants was measured using an ion-chamber. When performing abdominal supine AP projection, the effective dose to children was up to 2.38 times higher under clinical average X-ray Exposure conditions than the standard guidelines. In addition, during abdominal supine AP projection, the radiation exposure dose to the X-ray examination assistants was highest on the hands at 0.0148 ~ 0.0709 mSv, and exposure dose could be reduced by up to 35% when wearing protective gloves. In conclusion, because the X-ray Exposure conditions used in clinical are unnecessarily high, unnecessary medical radiation exposure could be reduced if appropriate X-ray Exposure conditions and the radiation field area were minimized and the assistant wore shielding gloves.
This study was performed to investigate the dose-response relationship between average daily cadmium dose (ADCD) from rice and the occurrence of urinary cadmium (U-Cd) in individuals eating that rice. This was a retrospective cohort designed to compare populations from two areas with different levels of cadmium contamination. Five-hundred and sixty-seven participants aged 18 years or older were interviewed to estimate their rice intake, and were assessed for U-Cd. The sources of consumed rice were sampled for cadmium measurement, from which the ADCD was estimated. Binary logistic regression was used to examine the association between ADCD and U-Cd (cut-off point at $2{\mu}g/g$ creatinine), and a correlation between them was established. The lowest estimate was $ADCD=0.5{\mu}g/kg\;bw/day$ [odds ratio (OR) = 1.71; with a 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.02-2.87]. For comparison, the relationship in the contaminated area is expressed by $ADCD=0.7{\mu}g/kg\;bw/day$, OR = 1.84; [95 % CI, 1.06-3.19], while no relationship was found in the non-contaminated area, meaning that the highest level at which this relationship does not exist is $ADCD=0.6{\mu}g/kg\;bw/day$ [95% CI, 0.99-2.95]. Rice, as a main staple food, is the most likely source of dietary cadmium. Abstaining from or limiting rice consumption, therefore, will increase the likelihood of maintaining U-Cd within the normal range. As the recommended maximum ADCD is not to exceed $0.6{\mu}g/kg\;bw/day$, the consumption of rice grown in cadmium-contaminated areas should not be more than 246.8 g/day. However, the exclusion of many edible plants grown in the contaminated area from the analysis might result in an estimated ADCD that does not reflect the true level of cadmium exposure among local people.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of lower numbers of sperm $(3{\times}10^9)$ per dose liquid semen and type of semen used in artificial insemination (AI) on sow reproductive performance in subtropical area. Semen was supplied by two commercial AI centers. A total of 671 female pigs from seven farms were inseminated with either $3{\times}10^9$ or $5{\times}10^9$ sperm per dose. Two types of semen were used: heterospermic semen from two boars of the same breed and homospermic semen from a single boar. After insemination, conception rate, farrowing rate, total litter size, and number of dead piglets were recorded. The analysis of variance indicated that there was no significant effect of interactions between pig farm, type of semen, or number of sperm on any of the traits measured. There were significant differences in conception rate, farrowing rate, and total litter size among pig farms (p<0.05). The effect of number of sperm per dose liquid semen ($3{\times}10^9$ or $5{\times}10^9$) was not significant. Sows inseminated with homospermic semen showed significantly higher conception and farrowing rates but significantly lower total litter size (p<0.05). In conclusion, the number of sperm per dose liquid semen for AI could be lowered to $3{\times}10^9 $ without affecting reproductive performance in subtropical areas like Taiwan.
The aim of this study is to compare reference levels for radiation dose in angiography and interventional radiology. Proposed reference levels for various procedures and classification of diseases are provided by fluoroscopy time and kerma area product(KAP) rate normalizing the body habitus focusing the cerebrum. Subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) represents the highest KAP-rates and aneurysm represents the lowest KAP-rates. According to these types of procedures, internal carotid artery(ICA), common carotid artery(CCA), and vertebral artery(VA) show the highest KAP-rates and guglielmi detachable coil shows the lowest KAP-rates. Therefore, the present study can suggested reference levels for patient radiation dose and is expected to be further useful in the field of radiation dose education and management of angiography and interventional radiology.
Purpose: Recognize circulation work system and fixing work system's merits and demerits that is enforced in operation of PET/CT center in sudden increase recently. Wish to estimate connectivity degree of individual exposure dose and PET/CT working that is managed periodically through this and look for operation efficiency of PET/CT center. Materials and Methods: (1) Find interrelationship of length of service to be individual exposure dose and PET/CT through TLD interpretation. Specially, evaluate on the basis of data of 2.5 years until 2 quarters 2006~2008 year that show patient increase rapidly the latest. (2) Recognize what countermeasure is evaluating problems happened at circulation work system and fixing work system. Results: Patient examination's number was 14,674 items until 2 quarters 2006~2008 year, and the $^{18}F$-FDG average injection amount was 461.5 MBq. 2 people of 10 radiotechnologist did fixing work PET area and GAMMA area each, and 8 people did circulation work of 3 times for 2.5 years. Average exposure dose that PET area and Gamma area's circulation men in service receive was 1.32 mSv, and PET area men in services came out average 0.825 mSv high than Gamma area men in services. Nurse's exposure dose is 0.28 mSv, and next 2 reason is conjectured. One is contact with patient that medicate $^{18}F$-FDG injection, and another is consultation about patient's next time schedule after examination end. Although exposure dose's amount is not much, is expected to consider continuation work possibility by exposure dose in case is a nurse with pregnancy possibility. Also, $^{131}I$-isotope therapy area's radiotechnologist that use capsule appeared by 0.12 mSv and a nuclear medicine doctor appeared by exposure dose that is less of 0.11 mSv. Conclusions: In case do PET/CT center circulation work after a long time, connoted danger that most men in service is consecutiveness deficiency of business and individual exposure dose increase at early 1 month. Specially, way for individual exposure dose's decrease should be considered. Also, need to evaluate abhorrent work form for efficient work system introduction, and enforce circulation and fixing work suggestion suitable shift working. Finally, must make normalized business guide and so on to prevent circulation work people's business efficiency decline.
