This study is to explore the causes for weak signal areas and suggest solutions for the problem of weak signal areas through the experiments for location error of satellite navigation system depending on the characteristics of locations. For kinematic point positioning, a moving object can have different number of satellite navigation systems available depending on its location. It has to receive location data from at least four satellite navigation systems for precise point positioning. However, drastic urbanization and poor surroundings have caused greater location error and weak signal areas. To reduce location error and remove the occurrence of weak signal areas, it is necessary to verify the characteristics of metropolitan surroundings. Therefore, experiments were conducted to measure location error and discover the causes for the occurrence of weak signal areas in metropolitan area, residential area, woods, ocean area, and open ground. In addition, this study suggests a point positioning algorithm with high precision suitable for local surroundings and an algorithm to remove weak signal areas.
In this study, a novel method was proposed to test the integrity of water treatment system specifically equipped with membrane filtration process. We applied the silica particles coated with a fluorescent agent (rhodamine B isothiocyanate) as a surrogate to detect a membrane process integrity and evaluate the reliability of effluent quality in the system. Additionally, a series of experiments was conducted to evaluate the sensitivity of the method through the laboratory scale experiment. The laboratory scale experiments showed that the feasibility of application of proposed method to detect a breach or damaged part on the membrane surface. However, the sensitivity on predicting the area of a breach was significantly influenced by the testing conditions such as a concentration of surrogate, filtration flux, and detection time. The lowest error of predicting the area of breach was 3.5% at the testing condition of surrogate concentration of 80 mg/L injected with flux of $20L/m^2/hr$ for 10 minutes of detection time for the breach having the actual area of $7.069mm^2$. However, the error of estimation was increased at the small breach with area less than $0.785mm^2$. A future study will be conducted to estimate a damaged area with more accuracy and precision.
Area average rainfall estimation is important to determine the exact amount of the available water resources and the essential input data for rainfall-runoff analysis. Like that, the necessary criterion for accurate area average rainfall estimate is the uniform spatial distribution of raingauge network. In this study, we suggest the spatial distribution evaluation methodology of raingauge network to estimate better area average rainfall and after the suggested method is applied to Han River and Geum River basin. The spatial distribution of rainfall network can be quantified by the nearest neighbor index. In order to evaluate the effects of the spatial distribution of rainfall network by each basin, area average rainfall was estimated by arithmetic mean method, the Thiessen's weighting method and estimation theory for 2013's rainfall event, and evaluated the involved errors by each cases. As a result, it can be found that the estimation error at the best basin of spatial distribution was lower than the worst basin of spatial distribution.

The main objective of load frequency control (LFC) is to keep the frequency value at nominal value and force deviation of the frequency to zero in case of load change. This paper suggests LFC by using a model predictive control (MPC), based on Integral Square Error (ISE) method designed to optimize the damping of oscillations in a two-area power system. The MPC is designed and simulated with a model system in state space, for robust performance in the system response. The proposed MPC is tuned by ISE to achieve superior efficiency. Moreover, its performance has been assessed and compared with the PI and PID conventional controllers. The settling time and overshoot with MPC are extremely minimized as compared with conventional controllers.

A hybrid technique that combines the advantages of binaural reproduction and sound field reproduction technique is proposed. The concept of HRTF-field, which is defined as the set of HRTFs corresponding to the various head dislocations, enables us to realize virtual source imaging over a wide area. Conventional $2{\times}2$ definition is redefined as a MIMO system composed of multiple control sources and multiple head locations, and HRTF variations corresponding to various head movement are quantified. Through the direct control of HRTF-field, reproduction error induced by head dislocation can be minimized in least-square-error sense, and consequential disturbances on the virtual source image can be reduced within a selected area. Simple lateralization examples are investigated, and the reproduction error of the proposed technique is compared to that of Higher-order Ambisonics.

The modulation quality of the RF transmitter in a wireless communication system usually affects system performance and it mostly depends on both a nonlinearity and a distortion, from the intermodulation products and the I/Q mismatch such as I/Q amplitude error and a local phase error, respectively. This paper focused on how much the error vector magnitude(EVM) which describes the modulation accuracy changes according to the variation of the I/Q mismatch components at I/Q modulator. For this work, the equation for the EVM including the I/Q mismatch components can be induced and calculated in accordance with the variation of the I/Q mismatch components. Consequently, the effect of I/Q mismatch components on the EVM, which is required in the transmitter specification of Personal Area Network, can be clearly analyzed.

Surface of rapid prototype has inevitably stair-stepping error, which is attributed to the continuous building process of 2 dimensional area. In this study, rounded edge model was established to estimate the roughness of inclined surface which has stair-stepping error. To investigate the roughness of rapid prototypes, specimens that have various surface inclinations were manufactured by various types of RP machines. As the surface inclination increased, the roughness of the specimens manufactured by SL, FDM, or LOM process decreased, which coincides with the simulation results. However, surface roughness of 3DP specimen was almost independent of the inclination. Furthermore, as the angle of surface increased, roughness of poly-jet specimen also increased, which is attributed to the frictional behavior between writing head and scanned area.

The more the lift environment eastern idea, culture, factory automation system and information technology complicates, the more the various human error brings about. It brings about all kind of accidents and occupational diseases. Also the death and sickness or injury by psychological stress among the human error has increased every year. Therefore this paper describes the Korean lift change unit model through statistical testing with the proposed life change unit factors on the married workers living the middle area. The proposed model can be simply used in order to minimize the industrial accident and human error in real fields. Finally, the result will be helpful for the better safety management.

The multilayer perceptron, trained by the error back-propagation learning rule, has been known as a mapping network which can represent arbitrary functions. However depending on the complexity of a function and the initial weights of the multilayer perceptron, the error back-propagation learning may fall into a local minimum or a flat area which may require a long learning time or lead to unsuccessful learning. To solve such difficulties in training the multilayer perceptron by standard error back-propagation learning rule, the paper proposes a learning method which progressively enlarges the learning domain from a small area to the entire region. The proposed method is devised from the investigation on the roles of hidden nodes and connection weights in the multilayer perceptron which approximates a function of one variable. The validity of the proposed method was illustrated through simulations for a function of one variable and a function of two variable with many extremal points.
