  • In the area of wireless sensor networks, sensor coverage and network connectivity problems are caused by a limited detection range and the communication distance of the nodes. To solve the coverage and connectivity problems, many studies are suggested, but most research is restricted to apply into the real environment because they didn't consider various environmental factors on wireless sensor network deployment. So in this paper, we propose a node deployment strategy considering environmental factors and the number of nodes in surveillance and reconnaissance sensor networks(SRSN). The proposed node deployment method divides the installation of the surveillance and reconnaissance sensor networks system into four steps such as identification of influences factors for node placement through IPB process, sensor node deployment based on sensing range, selection of monitoring site, and relay node deployment based on RF communication range. And it deploys the sensor nodes and relay nodes considered the features of the surveillance and reconnaissance sensor network system and environmental factors. The result of simulation indicates that the proposed node deployment method improves sensor coverage and network connectivity.

  • In general, the investigation for reservoir dredging are conducting a observation on the horizontal position and the depth of water by assembling GPS/Echo Sounder and Total Station/Echo Sounder, and it is computed at a section computation of riverbed, reservoir volume and dredging plan etc. at that times, the detail plane is determinated about soil volume, height for dredging. Planning has a fault that the method of sound detection using the Echo Sounder doesn't check up distribution of reservoir deposit. In this study, the author emphasizes that implementation of dredging with combined Global Positioning System(GPS) and Ground Penetration Radar(GPR) is well-done more than existed GPS/Echo Sounder. the combined equipment can be adapted to computation and dredging reffering to distribution of deposition. First of all, it is executed water tank modelling test through sampling for apply to test area and is estimated the possibility after passed far accuracy verification of equipment.

  • In order to study the simultaneous determination of (+)- and (-)-cetirizine in human urine we have developed a chiral separation method by HPLC. A chiral stationary phase of $\alpha$$_1$-acidglycoprotein, the AGP-CSP was used to separate the enantiomers. The pH of the phosphate buffer, as well as the content of the organic modifier in the mobile phase, markedly affected the chromatographic separation of (+)- and (-)-cetirizine. A mobile phase of 10 m㏖/1 phosphate buffer (pH 7.0)-acetonitrile (95 : 5, v/v) was used for the urine assays. Ultraviolet absorption was monitored at 230nm and roxatidine was employed as the internal standard for quantification. (+)-Cetirizine, (-)-cetirizine and the internal standard were eluted at retention times of 12, 16, and 32 mins, respectively. The detection limit for cetirizine enantiomers was 400 ng/$m\ell$ of urine. A pharmacokinetic study was conducted with the help of 5 healthy female volunteers who were administered with a single oral dose of racemic cetirizine (20 mg). The peak area ratios provided by the cetirizine enantiomers were linear(r>0.997) over a concentration range of 2.5-200 ${\mu}g/ml$. The peak of the excreted cetirizine enantiomers appeared in the urine sample during the period of 1-2 hrs following the administration of the oral dose. The excreted level of (+)-cetirizine was slightly higher than (-)-cetirizine but the difference was not statistically significant. However, this method appears to have applications for enantioselective pharmacokinetic studies of racemic drugs.

  • With the advent of submarine detection technology using low-frequency active sonar there is a call for a new submarine stealth device that can replace the existing passive anechoic tiles. Proposed in this study is a low-frequency echo reduction technique based on active impedance matching, which employs a tile projector designed to cover a wide area such as the surface of a ship. To judge the feasibility of the active impedance matching technique finite-element simulations of low-frequency echo reduction are performed. Based on the analysis, a tile projector is designed, fabricated, and tested in an acoustic tank for its low-frequency echo reduction performance.

  • Recently, a foreground-background segmentation using codebook model has been researched actively. The codebook is created one for each pixel in the image. The codewords are vector-quantized representative values of same positional training samples from the input image sequences. The training is necessary for a long time in the most of codebook-based algorithms. In this paper, the initial codebook model is generated simply using median operation with several image frames. The initial codebook is updated to adapt the dynamic changes of backgrounds based on the frequencies of codewords that matched to input pixel during the detection process. We implemented the proposed algorithm in the environment of visual c++ with opencv 3.0, and tested to some of the public video sequences from PETS2009. The test sequences contain the various scenarios including quasi-periodic motion images, loitering objects in the local area for a short time, etc. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has good performance compared to the GMM algorithm and standard codebook algorithm.

  • We report the effect of the fabric of the surface microstructure on the CO gas sensing properties of $SnO_2$ thin films deposited on self-assembled Au nanodots ($SnO_2$/Au) that were formed on $SiO_2/Si$ substrates. We characterized structural and morphological properties, comparing them to those of $SnO_2$ thin films deposited directly onto $SiO_2/Si$ substrates. We observed a significant enhancement of CO gas sensing properties in the $SnO_2$/Au gas sensors, specifically exhibiting a high maximum response at $200^{\circ}C$ and quite a low detection limit of 1 ppm level in dry air. In particular, the response of the $SnO_2/Au$ gas sensor was found to reach the maximum value of 32.5 at $200^{\circ}C$, which is roughly 27 times higher than the response (~1.2) of the $SnO_2$ gas sensor obtained at the same operating temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, the $SnO_2/Au$ gas sensors displayed very fast response and recovery behaviors. The observed enhancement in the CO gas sensing properties of the $SnO_2/Au$ sensors is mainly ascribed to the formation of a nanostructured morphology in the active $SnO_2$ layer having a high specific surface-reaction area by the insertion of a nanodot form of Au nucleation layer.

  • Since the air stream in the room controlled by HVAC system affects on he expected response of conventional detectors which are designed in accordance with normal characteristics of air stream in the fire incident, unexpected operation time delay may occur in fire. In order to solve this problem and to improve sensitivity so that to initiate fire in its early stages for minimizing damage and protecting people, we studied and developed Air Sampling Smoke Detector. The Air Sampling Smoke Detector is a kind of active-type fire detection system. it draws air continuously from the protected area through an air sampling pipe network to the smoke density analyzer. This study presents smoke density analysing technique and air intake balancing technique through an air sampling pipe network. As a result of evaluating, Air Sampling Smoke Detector was much more sensitive than conventional smoke detectors that passively wait for smoke to reach them and was not affected by ambient airflow in the room by means of balanced air intake through the sampling holes.

  • Purpose: The prevalence of macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MRMP) has increased worldwide. The aim of this study was to estimate the proportion of MRMP in a tertiary hospital in Korea, and to find potential laboratory markers that could be used to predict the efficacy of macrolides in children with MRMP pneumonia. Methods: A total of 95 patients with M. pneumoniae pneumonia were enrolled in this study. Detection of MRMP was based on the results of specific point mutations in domain V of the 23S rRNA gene. The medical records of these patients were reviewed retrospectively and the clinical course and laboratory data were compared. Results: The proportion of patients with MRMP was 51.6% and all MRMP isolates had the A2063G point mutation. The MRMP group had longer hospital stay and febrile period after initiation of macrolides. The levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-18 in nasopharyngeal aspirate were significantly higher in patients who did not respond to macrolide treatment. CRP was the only significant factor in predicting the efficacy of macrolides in patients with MRMP pneumonia. The area under the curve for CRP was 0.69 in receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, indicating reasonable discriminative power, and the optimal cutoff value was 40.7 mg/L. Conclusion: The proportion of patients with MRMP was high, suggesting that the prevalence of MRMP is rising rapidly in Korea. Serum CRP could be a useful marker for predicting the efficacy of macrolides and helping clinicians make better clinical decisions in children with MRMP pneumonia.

  • Recently, as the use of social media and IoT has increased, large graph streams has been generating and studies on real-time processing for them have been actively carrying out. In this paper we propose a incremental graph stream processing scheme that reuses previous result data when the graph changes continuously. We also propose a cost model to selectively perform incremental processing and static processing. The proposed cost model computes the predicted value of the detection cost and the processing cost of the recalculation area based on the actually processed history and performs the incremental processing when the incremental processing is more profit than the static processing. The proposed incremental processing increases the efficiency by processing only the part that changes when the graph update occurs. Also, by collecting only the previous result data of the changed part and performing the incremental processing, the disk I/O costs are reduced. It is shown through various performance evaluations that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes.

  • The UV radiometer payload was launched successfully from the west coastal area of Korea Peninsula aboard KSR-III on 28, Nov 2002. KSR-III was the Korean third generation sounding rocket and was developed as intermediate step to larger space launch vehicle with liquid propulsion engine system. UV radiometer onboard KSR-III consists of UV and visible band optical phototubes to measure the direct solar attenuation during rocket ascending phase. For UV detection, 4 channel of sensors were installed in electronics payload section and each channel has 255, 290, 310nm center wavelengths, respectively. 450nm channel was used as reference for correction of the rocket attitude during the flight. Transmission characteristics of all channels were calibrated precisely prior to the flight test at the Optical Lab. in KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute). During a total of 231s flight time, the onboard data telemetered to the ground station in real time. The ozone column density was calculated by this telemetry raw data. From the calculated column density, the vertical ozone profile over Korea Peninsula was obtained with sensor calibration data. Our results had reasonable agreements compared with various observations such as ground Umkhr measurement at Yonsei site, ozonesonde at Pohang site, and satellite measurements of HALOE and POAM. The sensitivity analysis of retrieval algorithm for parameters was performed and it was provided that significant error sources of the retrieval algorithm.
