For this, in this study, it researched the users interviews and the research related to users as a precedence study, and the studies having examined the state of demanding information by users through analyzing the e-mail actually. Additionally, by looking over the study of Library and Information Science that is activated in a field of Electronic Question/Answering Function rather than Archival Science, as a matter of fact, the study has come up with the standard for analyzing Electronic Question/Answering Function. And based on the precedence study, the instances for the National Archives from USA, England, Australia and Canada were analyzed, and the chance of activating Archival Information Service were tried to grope for in the study. This study might be one of methodologies in examining the users study that is not activated yet in Archival Science. Therefore, the users study can be carried out in various methods as well as Electronic Archives/Answering Service. This study might be the important information in providing far better Archival Information Services. It is desirable that based on this opportunity, the study related to the various users by examining not only Electronic Archives/Answering Function but also Question/Answering of the users and the Archivists in the filed to the larger extend will be activated for Archival Science.

  • Records Management System(RMS) is a system for managing electronic records in records centers. However, RMS cannot content itself with the purpose of introduction and user demands. This is caused by lack of understanding the user's RMS and a review of the lack of detailed features. Therefore, the aim of this study reviews and evaluates a detailed accession function of RMS. Firstly, the study reviewed a detailed function of accession in RMS. Analysing the business processes that each function carried out, it defined functional requirements and investigated functional compliance as the check list which produced by the functional requirements definition. Finally, it surveyed and interviewed public records managers and analyzed the present situation of functional implementation of records accession function. Afterwards, improvement plans and implications were proposed through comparison of global-standard.

  • The share of the internet has grown significantly in terms of usage and level of influence. Among the internet media, OhmyNews is considered a alternative media representing Korea's independent internet news, and a typical example displaying characteristics of the internet news. The processing step can be divided as five stage, with recorded information and applicable technical element extractable from each stage. In this thesis paper, we have analyzed domestic and overseas metadata standard examples to devise metadata design plans. Items to be focused when redesigning metadata based on domestic and foreign case studies are as follows: First, user access should be convenient; second, connection with related information should be considered; third, accumulation of production, management, usage, storage, and action history should be considered; and fourth, the design should allow higher utilization of contents. In depth researches over internet media are already being carried out in external academic disciplines including the media information studies, information and communication studies, and communications studies. We expect that it will also be necessary to consider such researches over the internet media for mass media record management research going forward.

  • The aim of this study is to propose the introduction of narrative description as an improvement to describing archives, thereby enhancing the user experience of archives. To achieve this, the study identifies the specific forms and positions of narrative elements in archives and analyzes the interaction between archival description and narrative elements. It also examines cases where narrative description has been applied in digital archives to analyze their purposes and identify the various types and characteristics of narrative description for the improvement of description and considering factors that should be taken into account when implementing narrative descriptions. Theoretical research explores the concept and role of narrative and analyzes how it is manifested in describing archives. Case studies investigate the types of narrative description in digital archives and explore their roles. Narrative description emphasizes that it can facilitate implementation by establishing the narrative identity of archivists as context constructors, conducting extensive and deep research on records, and planning collaborations with experts. However, due to the lack of concrete implementation plans for narrative description in the practical archives, further research is needed to develop models of narrative description and prepare various examples of narrative applications.

This study analyzed the status of the use of the search function of Records Management System(RMS) for public agencies, and evaluated them. In order to investigate the status of the use of the search function, it surveyed records managers of public agencies using the RMS. The result showed that records managers unsatisfied with the usability and the search performance of the RMS. To evaluate the search function, it identified the functional requirement of the system and develops a checklist that can be used for evaluation. Two assessments were conducted. Firstly, as pre-evaluation, it assessed the degree of implementation of the current RMS according to the checklist as an inspection chart using document examination method. Secondly, it assessed the degree of implementation using a survey of records managers of public agencies that use the RMS. Assessment results show the improvement of the basic features that are essential to the system is required. In particular, the search function is required to improve user-friendliness for the user. For the advance of RMS, this study discusses the necessity for improvement of the search functions, the build of continuous maintenance and management system, and the user education.

  • Finding aids are tools which facilitate to locate and understand archives and records. Traditionally there are two types of archival finding aids: vertical and horizontal. Vertical finding aids such as inventories have multi-level descriptions based on provenance, while horizontal ones such as catalogs and index are tools to guide to the vertical finding aids based on the subject. In the web environment, traditional finding aids are evolving into more dynamic forms. Respecting the principles of provenance and original order, vertical finding aids are changing to multi-entity structures with development of ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF) and ISDF as standards for describing each entity. However, vertical finding aids can be too difficult, complicated, and boring for many users, who are accustomed to the easy and exciting searching tools in the internet world. Complementing them, new types of finding aids are appearing to provide easy, interesting, and extensive access channels. This study investigates the development and limitation of vertical finding aids, and the recent trend of evolving new finding aids complementing the vertical ones. The study finds three new trends of finding aid development. They are (i) mixture, (ii) integration, and (iii) openness. In recent days, certain finding aids are mixed with stories and others provide integrated searches for the collections of various heritage institutions. There are cases for experimenting user participation in the development of finding aids using Web 2.0 applications. These new types of finding aids can also cause some problems such as decontextualised description and prejudices, especially in the case of mixed finding aids and quality control of user contributed annotations and comments. To solve these problems, the present paper suggests to strengthen the infrastructure of vertical finding aids and to connect them with various new ones and to facilitate interactions with users of finding aids. It is hoped that the present paper will provide impetus for archives including the National Archives of Korea to set up and evaluate the development strategies for archival finding aids.

The methodology of locality documentation has been applied, and locality archives accepting participation of people with experiences from shipbuilding industry have been examined. Omeka was applied because it is an open-source software and provides additional functions which support various user participations and web-publishing. Following the the model, firstly, a preliminary investigation was conducted and research of participatory agents and records was proceeded. Secondly, it collected and described information of the agents and records by institutions with records and provenance. Thirdly, it developed archival contents specific to events, persons and workplaces in association with archival information. For the follow-up study, plugins were installed and tested to apply for further experiment with participation.
