표준화된 2D CAD와 3D Digital Modeling을 이용한 옥천천주교회의 연혁 기록 (Documentation of the History of Ok-Cheon Catholic Church by standardized 2D CAD and 3D Digital Modeling)

  • 옥천천주교회는 1955년 건립된 이후 4차례에 걸쳐 변형되었다. 앞의 세 차례 변화는 창호와 지붕재료의 간단한 변경이었다면, 1991년 증축이 가장 큰 규모로 일(一)자형 평면에서 장십자형 평면으로 변경되면서 규모 구조 형태에 변화가 생겼다. 현재 이러한 건물연혁은 텍스트로만 정리되어 있을 뿐 시각자료로 구축되어 있지 않다. 이 연구는 옥천천주교회의 시기별 건물 연혁을 내장한 표준화된 2D CAD 도면을 작성하고 3D Digital Modeling을 통해 건물연혁 및 현재 상태를 쉽게 판별할 수 있는 3차원 시각자료를 구축하였다. 이를 통해 등록문화재로 지정된 이 교회의 연혁이 시각자료로 통합되었다. 이 자료는 건물의 보존 및 관리에 효과적으로 이용되며 향후 변경이나 증축, 복원이나 재활용 등에도 기초로 활용될 것이다.

  • 1"his Study is to make research a Image and Symbol in the Gothic Architecture. Firstly, the concept of the symbol and the image effect are essentially based on the meaning that the activity of consciousness take on the constitution of the symbol. Therefore the image represent the deepest content of human nature has been imagination and reality. Secondly, the symbol concept showed in Gothic Architecture was associated with the passion of the order of middle ages. The world, the cosmos and the history had been revealed in Gothic architecture. In Gothic Image, Emile Male maintained the symbol of the Catholic Church as above mentioned. The Catholic Church was mirror of the natural, the institution, the moral and history, then this passion of the order was a christian order. Especially, E. Panofsky said that the scholastic method was shown in Gothic architecture. He assert that it was especially dialectic method used in theology. That is, he explained the transfiguration of Gothic Architecture with the process of thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis. These symbolize light, magnitude, clearness. Finally, symbolic image is important in Post-Modem architecture at present. Post-Modern architecture is associated with the public and the Pluralism. Post-Modern architecture attempt to communicate as symbolic language among the assumption for diverse aspect of culture.

벽돌조 건축문화재 외벽체의 훼손 현황 및 원인 조사 -나주노안천주교회를 중심으로- (Investigation of Defects and Damage on External Wall in Brick Structures of Modern Architectural Properties - Focused on "Naju Noahn Catholic Church" -)

  • This study is to diagnose causes of damage and defects on external walls of brick structures, focused on "Naju Noahn" Catholic Church of Modern Architectural Properties. The causes of crack and deflection are overloading, shortage strength of arch. Among those, main cause is cauesd by shortage strength of arch because center of arch is dislocated and skew back of arch is small angle. The causes of damage and elimination are weathering, plants of friction, freezing and thawing, durability decrement of material and attach defection. This defects and damage is caused by high-moisture that occurs in soil. The causes of discoloration are change of soil moisture and flimsy brickwork. These defects and damage are mainly occurred in coping of cornice, weathering of window sill.

성당 실내공간에 대한 유니버설 디자인 관점 분석 - 부산교구 6개 사례의 전례공간을 중심으로 - (An Analysis of Interior Space on Catholic Churches from the Perspective of Universal Design - Focused on Liturgical Spaces of 6 Cases in Busan Parish -)

  • Liturgical space of Catholic churches should be equal conditions for everyone who wants to participate in the liturgy. However liturgical space is standardized for healthy adults without considering the elderly and the disabled. This study intended to suggest the guidelines required for the construction of Catholic churches from the perspective of universal design for all believers to equally participate in liturgy. The results of the study are as follows. First, as a result of the analysis of the liturgical spaces in six Catholic churches from the perspective of universal design, although the principle of universal design was not appropriately applied to all liturgical spaces of a Catholic church, there were cases where it was appropriately applied in part to each of the Catholic churches. Therefore, this study suggested the examples of exemplary installation by space, which is considered to be the materials that can be referenced and utilized when planning the liturgical spaces in the Catholic churches from the perspective of universal design. Second, the obligations required by the building regulations were installed in six cases, but the application of the universal design was insufficient in other spaces. Therefore, more careful consideration for users is considered necessary during space planning. Third, the construction of Catholic churches should be planned, taking into account the liturgical law; for this purpose, the provision of the guidelines for Catholic architectural planning further than the guidelines for architecture by each diocese is necessary. At this time, the collaboration between the Catholic officials and the architects and designers with knowledge of Catholic doctrine is required.

가톨릭 전예공간(典禮空間)의 감실(龕室) 위치에 관한 실천신학적(實踐神學的) 연구 -제2차 바티칸공의회(公議會) 문헌에 대한 건축적(建築的) 해석(解析)을 중심으로- (A Theological Study on the Location of Tabernacle in Catholic Liturgical Space - Architectural Interpretation of the Documents of the Second Vatican Council -)

  • In order to meet the needs of the liturgical reform implemented by the Second Vatican Council, existing churches have been reordered and guidlines drawn for new buildings. With this reordering, perhaps the most perplexing issues facing priest and architect alike are the question of reservation and placement of the tabernacle. While in several documents including the documents of the Second Vatican Council, the church has made statement concerning this problem, not much has been stated definitely, And there are many different and. ambiguous things in the interpretation of liturgists and Episcopal Conferences. I examined and compared the issues which has been raised this while based on the Vatican Documents. The findings may be summarised as follows : (1) As the history of church architecture has seen great variety and innovation in solving the needs of the day, the church gives certain guidelines, but also allow great flexibility. (2) To achive good result, the priests and architects should work together in a language the other will understand. So theological interpretations on church architecture may be very useful. (3) The seperate eucharistic chapel which is near the santuary will be recommended as a location which accounts for both the communal and individual aspects of eucaristic adoration.

김수근과 김중업 건축의 지역성 구현에 관한 비교 연구 (A Study on the Revealing of Regionality in Kim Su-Keun and Kim Jung-Up's Architecture)

  • Presentation is the way of revealing regionality that is hidden into the inner world. The expression of regionality has to be based on the origin and at the same time created newness as always suitable for the present through combination of 'familiarity' and 'unfamiliarity'. Regionality that has been maintained even under the application modern trends, spirits, technologies and materials should be now disclosed. Creating new forms that reflect regionality is possible only when a keen sense(emotion) always focusing on the essence of the earth works together with foresight(imaginative power) clarifying global pattern changes, under high tensions between both of them. Kim Su-Keun succeeded in reinterpreting traditional spaces, but failed in communicating patterns of life, ultimately revealing stiffness with no tension and no creativity. Kim Jung-Up could not draw out a whole meaning of relations among traditional fragments or relations between them and the present. He only borrowed such fragments from the view of formative art. For 'disclosed abstract', 'familiarity' and 'unfamiliarity' are repeated circularly and cope with pattern changes, continuously creating new forms and showing unity as a complete calmness(rest). In "YangDuk Catholic Church" by Kim Su-Keun provides a simultaneous reactivation of various images through continuous cross-weaving rather than being inclined to either the earth or the world. Based on the technique of 'disclosed abstract', "YangDuk Catholic Church" created a new form and space never seen before.

메리놀회 관할 청주교구 내덕동 주교좌성당의 건축적 특징 (Architectural Features of Naedeok-dong Cathedral, Cheongju Diocese under the Jurisdiction of Maryknoll Missioners)

  • 미국 메리놀 외방전교회가 1953년부터 1969년까지 관할한 충북 지역 (청주교구)에 건축한 18개 성당은 다른 카톨릭 외방 전교단체가 건축한 성당과 달리 특정한 건축 양식에 얽매이지 않는다. 청주교구의 최고 위계이자 대표 성당인 청주 내덕동 주교좌성당도 마찬가지이다. 그런데 이 성당은 교구 내 다른 성당과 구별되는 독특한 건축적 특징을 지닌다. 본 연구는 이 특징은 무엇인지, 어떤 방식으로 구현되었는지 살펴보고, 그 기원을 추적하여 미국 메리놀 외방전교회본부(1932)에서 건축 모티브를 가져왔음을 고찰한 후, 일제강점기(1923-1942) 메리놀회 관할 평양교구 주요 성당의 건축적 특징이 그 전례가 되었고 여기에서 파디(James V. Pardy) 주교 및 건축 전문가 박태봉(朴泰鳳)이 가교 역할을 했음을 밝힌다. 이를 바탕으로 내덕동 주교좌성당이 메리놀회의 해방 전후(1922-1969) 성당 건축사 및 한국 근대 성당 건축사에서 가지는 의의를 정리한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 새로 발굴한 건축도면, 사진, 텍스트 등 1차 사료를 주로 활용하는 문헌 연구방법을 취한다.

  • Since Korea disclaimed to open the ports, Korean architecture has met the impetuous transformation. Although there would be various factors of this transformation, the new-coming architecture by missionary seemed to be a significant one, and many researches have been carried out on this theme in diverse viewpoints. However, because these researches have preponderated on the Catholic tradition, it is deficient for clarify the whole history of mission architecture. Therefore, this research has the meaning to enrich the history of Korean modern architecture by making balance. First of all, this paper is focused on the activities of one missionary, Graham Lee. He is a practical missionary at the beginning, his architecture made a critical influence in Korean traditional architecture. Graham Lee was born in Rock Island, Illinois, 1861, and he determined to become a missionary through grown up. He spent his boyhood by working as a plumber for his purpose and studied in a university afterward. Graduating of McComick Theological Seminary, he was nominated as a pioneer of Pyeng Yang Mission Station and set foot in Korea, September of 1892. Since then he started to erect missionary facilities in Pyeng Yang, such as Well House(1898), Pyeng Yang Central Church(1900-1901), Pyeng Yang Academy(1902). These all his works are designed with eclectic style which shows western and Korean traditional style intermingled. This unique characteristic made a profound influence to the Korean mission architecture afterwards. Especially, the L-type plan of Pyeng Yang Central Church, which is first shown by him, is recognized very unique, and this plan type had been spread all over the country. Therefore the L-type plan became the peculiar feature of the early Korean churches. Furthermore, working with Korean carpenters, he taught them new skills of modem buildings. After that, they were expanded out northern part of Korea and took the roles of master builders. According to this expansion, his particular style had got spread and had been settled as a unique eclectic style in Korean modern architecture. In the conclusion, he is evaluated to be a critical pioneer missionary, who left a big influence on the frame work of Korean modern architecture in the transitional times.

약현성당 스테인드글라스의 재료학적 특성과 물성평가 (Evaluation of Physical Property and Material Characteristics for Stained Glass in the Yakhyeon Catholic Church, Korea)

  • 약현성당(사적 제252호)은 1892년에 건립된 현존하는 최초의 서양식 벽돌조 건축물로 한국 근대건축사에 매우 중요한 사료이다. 성당의 제대 후벽에 있는 스테인드글라스는 1974년 처음으로 도입된 이남규의 슬랩글라스(달드베르)로서 1998년 화재로 그을림 및 누수현상이 나타나자 다음해 보수된 바 있다. 색유리의 발색원소 분석 결과, 황색, 적색 및 연두색은 아연(Zn), 칼륨(K), 카드뮴(Cd)으로 확인되었고 셀레늄(Se)이 적색 착색제로 사용되었다. 또한 진녹색 계열의 발색성분은 망간(Mn)과 크롬(Cr), 청색계열은 납(Pb)과 황(S)이 검출되었다. 사이 줄눈의 재료학적 분석결과, 돌로마이트($CaMg(CO_3)_2$)와 방해석($CaCO_3$)으로 동정되었고 판상, 능면상, 주상, 방형 등의 결정질 입자가 확인되었다. 한편 초음파 속도는 스테인드글라스에서 평균 4,130 m/s를 보이며 중앙창 십자가와 우창 하단부에서 저속도대가 나타났으며, 줄눈은 평균 2,053 m/s의 속도범위에서 좌창 상부와 중앙창 가운데에서 가장 낮은 물성을 보였다. 약현성당의 색유리와 사이 줄눈은 육안관찰시 우창에서 집중적인 표면풍화가 나타나는 것과는 달리 물성진단을 통해 좌창 및 중앙창을 중심으로 상당한 물리적 손상이 확인되었다. 앞으로 유리의 조성과 물성의 상관관계에 대한 연구를 통해 꾸준히 보존관리가 필요하다.

한옥 공소의 목구조 방식에 나타난 민간 기술자의 현장기법 -천주교 신성공소와 장수천주교회 수분공소를 중심으로- (Field Technique of Non-Educated Constructors in Timber Structure of Korean-Style Secondary Station(Gong-So) -Focused on the Sin-Sung and Su-Bun Secondary Stations-)

  • This paper is aimed to clarify field technique of non-educated constructors in timber structure of korean-style secondary station(Gong-So) on the annex of catholic church. The main object of this study is Sin-Sung and Su-Bun secondary stations which post-lintel structure was 2high columns(Go-Ju) 5beams(Ryang) in Jeon-Buk area of Korea. We reached the following conclusion. Firstly, these secondary stations are required a lots of space for number of persons with the introduction of basilica plane. These plans have different intervals in the layout. Secondly, they constructed the holy space by using high columns(Nae-Jin-Go-Ju). The former problems of plan layout are sloved by reinforcement and replacement eaves and rafter of logitudinal. Thirdly, the elements showed the natural feature such as irregular wooden floor, arch-type head pentrating tie and a ceiling. In the end, we knew that non-educated constructor had found a way in the problem for accepting unreasonable work.
