Model Selection in Artificial Neural Network

  • Artificial neural network is inspired by the biological neural network. For simplicity, in computer science, it is represented as a set of layers. Many research has been made in evaluating the number of neurons in the hidden layer but still, none was accurate. Several methods are used until now which do not provide the exact formula for calculating the number of thehidden layer as well as the number of neurons in each hidden layer. In this paper model selection approach was presented. Proposed model is based on geographical analysis of decision boundary. Proposed model selection method is useful when we know the distribution of the training data set. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method we compare it to the traditional architecture on IRIS classification problem. According to the experimental result on Iris data proposed method is turned out to be a powerful one.

  • Cognitive model, that is cognitive architecture, is the model expressed with computer program to show the process how human solve a certain problem and it is continuously under investigation through various fields of study such as cognitive engineering, computer engineering, and cognitive psychology. In addition, the much extensive applicability of cognitive model usually helps it to be used for quantitative prediction of human Behavior or Natural programming of human performance in many HCI areas including User Interface Usability, artificial intelligence, natural programming language and also Robot engineering. Meanwhile, when a system designed, an usability test about conceptual design of interface is needed and in this case, analysis evaluation using cognitive model like GOMS or ACT-R is much more effective than empirical evaluation which naturally needs products and subjects. In particular, if we consider the recent trend of very short-end term between a previous technology development and the next new one, it would take time and much efforts to choose subjects and train them in order to conduct usability test which is repeatedly followed in the process of a system development and this finally would bring delays of development of a new system. In this study, we predicted quantitatively the human behavior processes which contains cognitive processes for menu selection in touch screen interface through ACT-R, one of the common method of usability test. Throughout the study, it was shown that the result using cognitive model was equal with the result using existing empirical evaluation. And it is expected that cognitive model has a possibility not only to be used as an effective methodology for evaluation of HCI products or system but also to contribute the activation of HCI cognitive modeling in Korea.

에너지 효율적 이종망간 핸드오버를 지원하는 새로운 모바일 단말 소프트웨어 아키텍쳐 개발 (Development of a Novel Mobile Terminal Software Architecture supporting Energy Efficient Vertical Handover)

  • 본 논문에서 에너지 효율적 이종망간 핸드오버를 지원하는 새로운 모바일 단말 소프트웨어 아키텍쳐를 제안한다. 기존 방식은 L3 핸드오버를 IETF Mobile IP에 의존하고 있어 Mobile IP가 가지는 이동성 검출 방식의 문제점을 그대로 가지며 동시에 이종의 네트워크 환경에 대한 어떠한 지원도 없으므로 중첩된 다중망 상황에서 불필요한 핸드오버를 자주 수행하게 되어 네트워크와 단말에 심각한 오버로드를 유발시킨다. 이에 반해 제안하는 방식은 단말기반의 망선택 및 전환을 수행하는 구조로서 단말에서 망상태를 주기적으로 모니터링하고 최적의 망을 선택하여 결정된 망으로의 L3 핸드오버 명령을 Mobile IP에 지시하는 형태로 불필요한 에너지 소모를 최소화한다. 망선택 방식은 단말의 속도 기반 망선택 및 전력소모 예측 등을 통해 핸드오버 대상이 될 망들을 선별한 후 단말이 요구하는 QoS, 네트워크 상태, 사용자의 선호도 및 단말의 배터리 상태 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 최종적으로 최적의 네트워크를 선택하는 방식을 취한다. 마지막으로 본 논문에서 제시하는 에너지 효율적 이종망간 핸드오버 아키텍쳐를 실제 단말에 적용하여 그 기능 및 성능을 검증한다.

  • 최근 IEEE 802.22 WRAN 워킹 그룹에서는 부족해지는 주파수 부족의 해결을 위해 CR (Cognitive Radio)의 기술개발을 진행 중에 있다. 채널을 센싱하는 방법에 따라 기존의 시스템 (IS: Incumbent System)의 보호에 상당한 영향을 미치기 때문에 네트워크 상황에 따른 최적의 센싱 방법을 선택하는 것이 중요하다. 이에 IEEE 802.22에서 fine sensing을 제안하고 있지만 아직까지는 다양한 네트워크에 효율적으로 적용할 수 없다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 네트워크 환경에 따라 효율적인 센싱 방법을 선택하기 위한 무선인지 네트워크에서 정책기반 채널 센싱구조 및 알고리즘 (Policy-based Channel Sensing Architecture and Algorithms for Cognitive Radio Networks)을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 채널 센싱 방법 및 알고리즘의 효율성을 확인하기 위하여 제시한 모의실험 결과는 각 센싱 방법에 따라 차이점을 보였지만 제안하는 채널 센싱 방법이 전체적으로 기존의 시스템 검출 시간 및 QP(Quiet Period)를 줄일 수 있었다. 제안하는 방법 중에 클러스터를 이용한 센싱 방법(Channel division round robin sensing)의 경우 IEEE 802.22에서 제안하는 fine sensing에 비교하여 70%정도 평균 검출시간을 줄일 수 있었다.

  • As Flat Panel Display become large in format, the data and gate lines turn into longer, parasitic capacitance and resistance increase, and the display signal is delayed. Three dimensional architecture of multiplexing data registration integrated circuit method is used that divides the data line into several blocks and provides the advantages of high accuracy, rapid selection, and reasonable switching speed.

파이프라인 아키텍쳐를 위한 코드 스케쥴링 알고리듬 (A Code Scheduling Algorithm for Pipelined Architecture)

  • This paper proposes a code scheduling algorithm which gives a software solution to the pipeline interlock. This algorithm provides a heuristic solution by recordering the instructions, instead of using hardware interlock mechanism when pipeline interlock prevents the execution of a machine instruction in a pipelined architecture. Program code size and overall execution time can be reduced due to the increased flexibility in the selection of instructions, which is possible from the alleviated ordering restriction on the use of conflict resources.

  • Service Oriented Architecture(SOA) is an enterprise-scale IT architecture for linking software resources available on the network. SOA is believed to become the future enterprise solution that promises the agility and flexibility by integrating business processes through composition of the software services across enterprises. The first step for SOA construction is to identify the services. In this paper, we present a process-based service identification methodology for SOA through a case study of an IT company. Our methodology is composed of three steps: Processes (business & technical processes) analysis and systems analysis, Service candidates selection, and Service evaluation and construction planning. This framework would be practical and could be accepted to other organizations as it has been developed through the real case.

  • Emotion을 이용한 컴퓨터 인공 지능, 그래픽, 로봇, 상호 작용 등 다양한 분야에 나타나고 있다. 이에 각 분야에 적용되어진 이론적 배경과, 적용의 특징, 기술 등을 본 글에서 다루고자 한다. 먼저 이론적 접근방식에 있어서는 심리학적 접근과, 사람의 감정 연구, Behavior-Bas설 접근, 생물 행동적 접근, 등이 있으며 이를 구현하기 위한 기술로는 학습 알고리즘, Neural Network 의 Self-Organizing Maps, Fuzzy Cognition Maps등이 있다. 적용 분야로는 Software Agent, Agent Robot과 Entrainment Robot 등이 있다. 본 글에서는 이들의 적용 사례들을 살펴보고 Emotion Architecture에 대해서 분석하고자 한다.

  • This paper addresses a hybrid control architecture for the hospital service robot, SmartHelper. In hybrid architecture, the deliberation takes place at planning layer while the reaction is dealt through the parallel execution of operations. Hence, the system presents both a hierarchical and an heterarchical decomposition, being able to show a predictable response while keeping rapid reactivity to the dynamic environment. The deliberative controller accomplishes four functions which are path generation, selection of navigation way, command and monitoring. The reactive controller uses fuzzy and potential field method for robot navigation. Through simulation under a virtual environment IGRIP, the effectiveness of the hybrid architecture is verified.
