  • This study aims to analyze architectural characteristics of railway station facilities which were built with development of railroads from Japanese Colonial Period to 1950's. To achieve this goals, 7 railway stations in Gyeongju area that are worth preserving were set up as research targets. For this study, I analyzed literature of the railway station and drawings which the KORAL Daegu Branch is keeping. Railway stations without a construction drawing investigated a direct visit. After analyzing the railway station facilities, the architectural properties such as plan, elevation and section have been identified. The results are as follows. First, Each modern railway station is usually consisted of waiting room and office, and ancillary spaces have been added. Over the years, however, the space was expanded horizontally. In that case, the structure and finish materials have been changed, like now. Second, Most of the roof shape is 'Matbae'(gable roof), especially Gyeongju station and Bulguksa Station are 'Woojingak roof. The roof structure is truss structure, especially as Pratt and Scissors type, but Gyeongju Station's structure is a reinforced concrete. Third, main doorway of waiting room is located in the center of the front gable. However, small stations like 'Ahwa' and 'Ipsil' station to ensure the passengers' waiting area are placed next to the office area.

  • Accelerating economic growth since the 1960s, penetration rate of the House of Commons has been increased. However, design competition has been imposed for improve of the qualitative level in modern because it was quantitative increasing. Even though its design quality is improved by introducing design competition, distorting the design is increased for the purpose of election. For that reason, errors of information and design changes are increased. So BIM(Building Information Modeling) is adopted to solve the problems. In this study, BIM process on the basis of the existing design process was to clean up and LoI(Level Of Information) based on the level of information was newly defined. Working-level of the design competition is plan-basic design. LOI level is LOI1-LOI2 in plan and Lol3-LOI4 in basic design. At each step of the operation was to clean up the level of detail and content. Also exchange of data in each area and feedback about content are to clean up.

  • This study is planning improvement of welfare facilities about the hall for the aged in apartment housing. An apartment house, famous residential type in Korea, put an important value on its convenience and economical efficiency of furniture arrangement by maximizing floor space index. In this regard, leisure usage of house was not carefully considered for the aged people. To redefine the efficiency of welfare facilities, research mainly deals with analysis of realistic needs for the aged through the spot survey and interview. The main purpose of this study is to enhance the quality of welfare facilities and propose the improved welfare facilities for the aged people. Through the research, conclusions are as followed First, Facility standard and provisions of the law should be revised for considering population growth of the aged people. Second, there are 4 plan types in the hall for the aged. Contrary to our expectation, diversity of program was not found however various program planning is needed for considering its different types of plan. Third, according to regulation, space restriction is based on the number of households. Therefore, room and space standard does not depend on the number of people. From now on, in order to improve quality of welfare facilities of the aged, revision of laws and overall facility standard should be implemented in advance.

  • This research is to propose a rational criterion of the selection and the management f the roadside trees, and to establish the planting design and system with the objective of improving the roadside environment. All of the roadside trees in each objective courses in Kangnung, and the soil disposition, hardness of the soil in the planting areas have been investigated. Also, we have surveyed the kinds of the trees which kandgnung inhabitants want. The conclusion is as follows Most of roadsides have trees, but they need the introduction of shrubs or ground covering plants according to the locations and the environmental conditions. We have selected nineteen species in regard to the roadside tree criterion and the growing conditions living in Kangnung. It is desirable that we make banding style planting space between each roadside tree to improve the low ratio of green coverage. We have found out that Ligustrum obtusifolium, Buxus micropnylla, Euonymus japonica, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, Phyllostachys nigro and Rosa rugosa, ect. are suitable. In order to soften and weaken the rigidity of the hard substances on a paved roadside, the climbers such as the perennial herbaceous flowering and hedera rhombea should be preferred rather than annual herbaceous flowering because of curtailment of expenditure. To posses a systematical greenery frame in kangnung, we have planned a planting design system that would expand the greenery space every year. Moreover, we have to make a plan to overcome space restrictions. We have established a flexible plan considering the roadside conditions and the improved standard planting methods with an ultimate aim to create a special roadside view.

The arboretum planning area is located within territory of the Incheon Grand Park Based on the IMADP, the arboretum was divided into three display spaces; the Urban Greening Garden, the Rare and Endangered Plant Species Garden and the Theme Garden. Detailed planting guidelines were suggested according to the three garden areas. The Urban Greening Garden was designed to display the following three; the relevance techniques, the model, and the practical uses of plants that are regarded to an urban greening. The Rare and Endangered Plant Species Garden (REPSG) was planned for the collection and display of the rare and endangered native plants in the territories of Incheon and the island seashore. Also, the REPSG includes the education purposes of comparing and displaying taxonomically related plant species. The Theme Garden was projected for the collection and display of plant species that have long been familiar to Korean culture and which are also used in our daily life.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the application plan for the landscape planning after grasping the current situation of the historical and cultural resources in Cheongju city and closely examining their conservation and use state. Concerning the method of the study, I considered the resources related concepts and came up with the characteristics of the historical and cultural resources and the application planning as landscape factors after the research on the actual condition and their present situation. Regarding the study or research, I studied the cultural assets, historical and cultural resources, historical and cultural planning, and further examined the historical and cultural resources by dividing them diversely and further, studied the current situation of their system and the related law. For the current situation of the historical and cultural landscape resource in Cheongju city I conducted the assessment of the landscape resources by areas, types, locations. On the basis of this study I came up with the basic direction for the application plan and the solution to the management of the landscape and think that these plans or suggestions will make a contribution to the establishment of their identity by regions.

  • The recently built rural Hanoks have shown changes in appearances regarding its shape, space and size in the traditional floor plan. This is probably the transformation process to suit the needs of modern residence as new spaces and other factors are considered these days. The purpose of the research is to provide basic data for the innovation and construction of future Hankoks by analyzing the size features of the Hanoks in the rural areas of Jeeollanam-do and changing trends. They were divided into 5 types depending on the shape and the spacing of the living room and kitchen. Then size features per each type were analyzed. From this, it was revealed that there needs to be reasonable development of types in the standard design of Hanok because the size of the rooms is actually bigger than the standard design of Hanok in Jeollanam-do. The composition of the utility rooms should be classified as either domestic space or agricultural workspace considering that this area is rural but there are not enough storage spaces for agricultural machines and materials in most houses as they did not install external storage spaces. Therefore, it was analyzed that the size varies with the changes in the composition of space because of Hankok's similarities in the area of the rooms with typical apartments.

  • Recently, Korea is becoming a world-leading country in various industrial fields with it's advanced information technology. In the 20th century, Korea went through a chaotic period from Japanese colonization via the Korean war to IMF because of lack of globalization. Now, we have a mission and the abilities to lead world-wide trends in entire fields of society. This study, comparing the modern healthcare planning trends in Korea, China, Japan and the United States, proposes the Northeast Asia Healthcare Network Plan which Korea leads. United States is the starter of healthcare network, but it's location is too far from Asia and IT is also inferior to the Korean. Japan seems to have no concerns with this healthcare network. And the current China is a rapid growing period and is too much for building its domestic healthcare infra-structure. they still have no concerns with re-structuring of healthcare system and facilities. Because of these reasons, I think Korea should have to lead Northeast Asia Healthcare network.
