Since ancient times in Korea, in spite of the ranks of high and low, drink was like a all sorts of human emotions. In particular, the drought, or any weapon except when wages found the ball back to God or to buy a drink to celebrate the sixtieth birthday or marriage and feasting like mails, and the priests or the funeral, such as consciousness raising in this procedure. The country had strict rituals in ceremonial events were thereby is living up to deep. The history of the drink in the history of the past, given that the main grain farming culture has already begun since the era of gojoseon was launched remains to be seen. This has been a long history of traditional attention to clean up and organize the showing to the public hall is a nationally scarce in some areas of that era, or the facility is not large. Therefore, in this study, alcohol-related exhibits and Museum recognizes the reality of the future sake Museum architectural plans: the Foundation provides materials for that purpose.
This study examines Safdie's design philosophy: place, purpose, and process and design strategies found in museum buildings. Safdie, influenced by personal background as immigrant, education of McGil University in Canada, apprenticeship from Louis Kahn, is one of the most recognized architects who designed renowned public and cultural buildings after Habitat 67 in Montreal, Canada. In order to reveal design strategies his eight museum buildings has been selected and analyzed in terms of interpretation of context, program presented in floor plan and section design, and the process of integrity found in structure and material. The results of this paper can be summarized as follows: 1) Reflection of existing context and regeneration of the locality has been in a creative way to reinforce the sense of place. 2) The layout of major and gallery space is determined according to the Safdie's interpretation of the site context and this can be categorized into three types. 3) Integration of the innovative structural frame and material has been experimented by using tartan grid and toroid form in the major and gallery spaces. This study is intended to reevaluate the significance of Safdie's design approach to building uniqueness of the site, program and tectonic.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial transformational patterns according to the spectator and the exhibition environment and to examine the role of 'the middle space' organically linking the exhibition space with MoA which is a representative example of 'sequential exhibition space'. The concept of sequential exhibition space in MoA is applied not only to building but also to extended continental concepts including neighborhood. MoA's exhibition space consists of the library area and the exhibition area. In particular, the spaces of library area perform a complex function as a quasi-exhibition space, and the exhibition spaces have variable spatial transformation through an associated structure of the library area and the educational area. The types of exhibition space those constitute the sequential exhibition space of MoA appear as 'Room type', 'Free plan type', and 'Gallery type'. Each exhibition space maintains independence, but it is changed according to the situation of exhibition. The flow is based on the spiral induction around the central void space, but with selective circulation considering the visitors. Therefore, through the transformation of the exhibition area and the division of the flow, the whole museum space appears as the area differentiation.
This study is focused on three major museum projects completed during 1990's by Richard Meier who is known as the romantic modernist as well as one of the architects who continue their devotion on completing the fourth dimensional spatial concept through the practice. Main focus of the study will be analyzing the space and design elements shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Barcelona, Spain, 1986-95), Museum of Television & Radio (Beverly Hills, CA., 1994-96) and the Getty Center(Los Angeles, CA., 1984-97), and find out the new meaning of museum design suggested by the architect. The analyzation was done based on the actual sight visits and through the acquired references. The museum designs done by Richard Meier show consistency between visual language, use of 'light, space and form' as the design elements to connect interior and exterior to create openness and harmony with surrounding condition. Additionally, greatness of the architectural elevation, efficient use of interconnecting space, adoption of natural light, affective use of the space, careful consideration to the exhibiting items, spread of information centers, balance between large and small exhibition spaces, and his concept on providing choices to the viewer within the museum are the main issues in designing the museum in order to give various spatial experience to the visitors.
Richard Meier has earned his recognition by developing his unique design approach and keeping consistency in design concept in museum architecture over the years of his practice. The purpose of this study is finding common characteristics of the exhibition space spatial organization based on actual site visit analysis. This study will mainly focus on the museums Richard Meier designed between 1979, which is the year he started, until 1997 which is the year Getty Museum opened. For the purpose of this study, Museum of Applied Art, Frankfurt(1979-85), High Museum of Art, Atlanta(1980-83), Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona(1987-95), and The J.Paul Getty Museum(1984-1997) have been selected for analysis. This study will reveal fundamental characteristics of Richard Meier's architectural philosophy through his early residential projects and give background information of the 'white architecture' Close analysis will continue by reviewing four museums selected specifically for this study and focus more from the point of issues such as; 1)applying various axis in space programming, 2)symbolic significance of exhibition space, 3)hierarchy of each space, 4)design elements and characteristics of the exhibition space. Furthermore, quantitative research on exhibition space organization will be done by Space Syntax theory method. The result of the study will be a significant data in designing a modern museum.
The purpose of this study is to examine the circumstances of repair works after enacting "Low for Conservation of Joseon Treasure, Historic Site, Scenic Beauty & Natural Monument (朝鮮寶物古跡名勝天然記念物保存令)". For this purpose, the official documents produced by the Government-general Museum of Joseon were analyzed. They included the contents of repair works of Hwaumsa Kakhwangjeon(華嚴寺 覺皇 殿). As a result, this study reveals that the repair work of Hwaumsa Kakhwangjeon had become a momentum of introducing specific guidelines such as "Guidelines for Architectural Treasure's Repair 寶物建造物修理施行準則", "Regulations for administration of Hwaumsa Kakhwangjeon's repair work 華嚴寺覺皇殿修理工事取扱手續)". The guidelines and regulations systematized the planning phase of the repair works and provided to organize the field office formed by experts. In spite of these positive changes, the repair works were controlled by the central government to the certain extent, and the Japanese repair techniques were mingled with traditional techniques recklessly.
Building restoration is a complex process with a high level of uncertainty. Restoration professionals can significantly benefit from the well-established discipline of project management to achieve their targets; however, available evidence shows that the use of the project management body of knowledge in restoration projects is far from the desired level. Several historical organisations have since been established with the goal of preserving and governing cultural identity, and numerous studies have supported the need of preserving architectural heritage. Many owners, investors, academics, and developers believe that it would be considerably more expensive to renovate and restore an old building than to create a new one. Although the project management process is generally recognised, the concept of project management for architectural heritage projects differs due to the uniqueness of each project. It differs from many construction projects in terms of the need for research-based practices to define scope, planning, scheduling, supervision,decision-making,and also performance. The Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria's planning, design, and building phases are being studied with the aim of identifying and analysing the variables that contribute to project delays. Three project management pillars were established as a result of gathering this data from the project's stakeholders: the first pillar addresses time management for the existing phase and how it will be incorporated into the new extension phase; the second pillar addresses performance in relation to project management issues in the delivery of the best quality of a construction project; and the third pillar addresses the scope of the new extension because it will significantly impact the other two pillars. This paper argues that a contemporary perspective which utilizes project management tools and techniques can contribute to the conservation of architectural heritage in line with the conservation principles.
The museum architecture has been developed with new social and cultural movement because of the its representative role of cultural character. After emergence of the modern museum in Korea, the function and role of the museum has been changed and developed especially after increasing role by local government. The cultural desire by the new pace of consumerism has requested museums to undergo with some changes and advancements in their function and programs. This research aims to examine the progress of museum programs in Korea even though it has sort history. The scope of the analysis is discussed the extension of existing and new national museums which could be the measurement of the direction of the policy for museum. These changes have a tendency to correspond to social and cultural demands. Based on the existing program, new programs accommodate education and services which represent the characteristic of the museums. These changes caused the extension of the existing museums and the emergence of the small museums which has special program fields and even influences to expand existing museums for sub-characters. The study for chronological changes could be useful to establish the basic guidelines of the configuration for the museum program and space in the early stages for the new construction.
