This paper suggests a system architecture for the advanced meteorological satellite image processing system that is developing by NMSC(National Meteorological Satellite Center). The meteorology satellite image processing system has basically the image acquisition, the image processing, the data management, and the data dissemination functionalities. However, the existing system has some problems with respect to system integration as well as maintenance to accommodate new satellites and/or the new image processing systems for them which will be developed in the near future. To cope with these problems we propose a new system architecture for the advanced meteorology satellite image processing system. To do this we select as the architectural drivers the quality attributes such as modifiability, inter-operability, extendability, reusability, and platform independency and design the architecture to achieve such quality attributes. We expect that the new approach will solve current issues such as system integration, system dependency, or data management problems and will provide easy ways to incorporate new systems and to maintain them.

This study attempts to deduce the necessity and validity of complexation, and suggests complexation through complexation suitability evaluations as follows. First, the concept and current state of leisure facilities for the elderly and elementary facilities and architectural complexation were investigated through theoretical considerations. Second, the target schools for complexation of 'elementary school-leisure facility for the elderly' were selected. The aspects of facility introduction of an elementary school, teacher support facility, convenience facility for the disabled, safety and security facilities as well as school facility accessibility were investigated on the basis of the data attained from theoretical considerations. Third, the feasibility of complexation of leisure facilities for the elderly was reviewed, based on the investigated data on complexation-targeted elementary school. Regarding school building and support facilities, with a focus on leisure programs for the elderly, the availability and number of rooms, extra numbers of regular classrooms and the room condition were assessed on the basis of the analysis of operational perspective of each facility. The convenience facilities for the disabled were examined by classifying them into interventional facility in consideration of facilities for the elderly, pursuant to the provisions in the convenience promotion assurance act for the disabled, elderly and pregnant women. Safety and security facilities were evaluated in an effort to assess the safety issue of the elderly and children. The result of the evaluation of the 6 elementary schools in Seong-buk county based on the above-mentioned four measurement standards shows that they scored 107~124 points out of the total 155 points, with the average of 118.5 points. This is more than the medium score and shows the possible complexation of the elementary school facilities as the leisure facilities for the elderly, and at the same time it may lead each school to find out the elements conducive to enhancing the complexation as a result of the evaluation. Through the evaluation data, I expect that we contribute to promoting the process of the evaluation of the appropriateness of complexation and the efficient complexation.

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of web-based three-dimensional (3D) printing-related service platforms, which allow consumers to collect 3D modeling data, make requests for production, and receive goods through a distribution service using the service platform. The application of 3D printing technology has been expanded to the construction field, yet no guidelines for the related service platform or operation examples can be found. Therefore, the functions of 10 web-based 3D printing service platforms actively used in other industries were investigated and analyzed in this study, and the analysis results were used as a guideline to develop a 3D printing service platform for the construction industry. In addition, the design, construction and distribution services to be equipped with the construction 3D printing service integration platform were presented by creating the driving scenario of the platform. As 3D printing technology develops, the overall construction and architectural paradigms for design, construction and distribution will change. To prepare for such changes and to pioneer the digital construction market in the future, the role of the 3D printing service platform is expected to increase continually.

Coarse aggregate is produced in various ways depending on the location and production method. Currently, the construction industry is in need of a stable supply of coarse aggregate and a way to secure standard quality. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the use of coarse aggregate in 3D printing can help solve this problem. ABS filament was selected for use in 3D printing. CATIA was used for the design of the coarse aggregate, and CUBICON Single Plus was used for the production. Six specimens were produced and cured in water for 28 days. Three of them were made with AE agent, and three were made without it. A compressive strength test confirmed that when the AE agent was used, the compressive strength was greater than the lightweight concrete design criterion specified in the concrete standard specification. This suggests that coarse aggregate produced by a 3D printer may be used for lightweight concrete. A mass production system using this method could help to solve the problems facing the construction industry, such as stable supply and demand for coarse aggregate and securing standard quality.

Owing to the increase in large and complex construction projects, the design paradigm of architecture and civil engineering projects has changed from 2D CAD to 3D CAD. For this reason, to meet the strong requirements of project contractors, various efforts have been made to adopt a Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology for effective construction management. On the other hand, compared to architectural projects, only a few civil engineering project cases have been conducted in the perspective of public contractors. This is because the characteristics of civil project contractors and the negative pursuit of adopting BIM technology due to the lack of a current BIM system and technologies. Recently, positive changes in adopting BIM technology for public projects were anticipated by public owners, such as the Public Procurement Service and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In this regard, this study analyzed the current BIM technology status of public owners in Korea to adopt the BIM policies and guidelines of the Korean government. Strategies for adopting BIM technologies for Korean public owners are also discussed based on an analysis of civil engineering BIM project cases.

The housing market is now difficult because of excess of the increase rate of housing and long-term recession but high-rise mixed-use buildings can mix residential facilities with various demand facilities focusing and they have the advantages to secure open space and excellent view by high-rise apartment. But there are problems by hindrance of skyline formation and height of buildings. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest the height standard and the slenderness ratio to location types of Mixed-use Residential Tall buildings. For the method of the study, term arrangement through literature search and the precedent research survey were first done, the level of urban design and the details related to the height of buildings were done as the case research focusing on the 16 cases in Seoul. The following results were drawn by suggesting the height standard and the slenderness ratio by location type based on them. First, the height of mixed-use building by location type in the level of urban design gets higher starting from the secondary center of the city and can be suggested as from less than 150m to more than 200m. Second, the slenderness ratio shall be planned as more than 1:3 because the area of the ground level of mixed-use building is large unlike Mixed-use Residential Tall buildings and visual passage shall be placed so that unity of openness and group formation will be planned. Third, for the height related to Mixed-use Residential Tall buildings, amendment of the special architectural district system and the special law related to super high-rise buildings shall be enacted.

This study aimed to interpret aesthetic properties of post-industrial parks with a perspective of the sublime. It examined the roles of the sublime related to landscape architectural history and traced aesthetic characteristics of post-industrial parks based on aesthetic issues of the sublime. In the history of landscape architecture, the sublime had expanded the scope of aesthetic enjoyment. It had operated as an alternative aesthetic category against conventional landscape design. At the same time, it had been associated with the original role of landscape architecture, which created artworks by taming wild and terrible qualities of wilderness or brown field. This study discovered sublime characteristics of post-industrial parks, inquiring into the relationship between the aged industrial infrastructures and wild plants. First, the sense of industrial structure and the sense of plants have conflict dialectically, constructing an aesthetic field of unique sensory experiences. Second, the dialectical relationship produced an uncertainty in time so that people can experience the complexity of time. Third, post-industrial parks proposed an alternative view of nature. Post-industrial parks presented healing power to restore contaminated land through ecological design strategy so that people can find the quality of wilderness in the brown field of urban landscape. As a result, an aesthetic experience of post-industrial parks produced a sublime impression.

Military Barracks and Bachelor Officer's Quarters are public buildings representing architectural characteristics with repeating the same room modules. These buildings require easy dismantling and reusing for the next generation' military re-organization. For these reasons, since 2005, the modular construction has been applied to military buildings. The most important factors required for modular military buildings are standardization, lowcost construction and reusable construction method. However, conventional modular building system have not been matched with these requirements. This study suggests a new modular system for Bachelor Officer's Quarters using Six-sigma design tool. To reflect the voices of customers, market study and surveys were carried out. Through the QFD, the voices of customers were converted into quality characteristics of building system for BOQ. The various design concepts meeting customer's requirement were derived by the QFD and Pugh matrix methodology. The proposed modular building system shows 80% increased factory production rate and 62% decreased weight of steel frame as compared with the conventional modular building system.
Typical composite girder has been composed with conventional concrete deck and steel girder. Recently, ultrahigh-performance-concrete (UHPC) deck is proposed in order to enhance durability and reduce weight of deck as well as to increase stiffness and strength of the composite girder. This study investigates that a headed stud is still compatible as a shear connector for the UHPC deck and steel girder composite beam. Twelve push-out specimens are prepared to evaluate the static strength of stud shear connectors embedded in the UHPC deck. The test program proves that the static strength of the stud shear connectors embedded in UHPC well meets with design codes described in AASHTO LRFD. Chosen experimental variables are aspect ratio of height to diameter of stud, thickness of deck and thickness of concrete cover over the head of stud. From the test program, aspect ratio and cover thickness are investigated to mitigate the regulations of the existing design codes. The minimum aspect ratio and the minimum cover thickness given in AASHTO LRFD are four and 50mm, respectively. This limitation hinders to lower the thickness of the UHPC deck. The results of the experiment program give that the aspect ratio and the cover thickness can be lower down to three and 25mm, respectively. Eurocode-4 regulates characteristic relative slip at least 6mm. However, test results show that stud shear connectors embedded in UHPC provide the characteristic relative slip only about 4mm. Therefore, another measures to increase ductility of stud should be prepared.
