This study examined the effects of flavors, which are usually added to improve the appeal of pharmaceutical agents, on the viscosity and gelling point of 18% (w/w) aqueous poloxamer 407 solutions. Monoterpenes, esters, alcohols, aldehyde ketones and lactone type flavors were examined. The concentrations of flavor ranged from 0.1 to 1.0%(w/w). After adding a flavor to the aqueous poloxamer 407 solution, the viscosity of the solution was measured using a Brookfield viscometer, and the gelling point was determined from the viscosity vs. temperature plot. The gelling point of the aqueous poloxamer 407 solution decreased with increasing concentration of flavors except for coumarin, vanillin and ethylvanillin. Thermal analysis with DSC showed an interaction between the flavors and poloxamer 407. These results suggest that the flavors bind to the hydrophilic end chains of poloxamer 407, which increases the viscosity, causing gelation at lower temperatures.

The reaction rate of $CO_2$ with 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), MEA monoethanolamine(MEA) and diethanolamine (DEA) in aqueous solutions has been determined using a stirred vessel with a plane gas-liquid interface over a wide range of concentrations of amines at different temperatures. The results show that the overall reaction rate is first order with respect to both $CO_2$ and amine. The reaction rate constant varies with temperature according to the relationship which agrees with the experimental data. The proposed interpretation is that the kinetic rate determining step is a reaction of $CO_2$ with amine to form carbamic acid which is then totally and immediately ionized.
A numerical simulation of membrane evaporation process was carried out in this work. The aim of simulation is to describe transport of water through porous membranes applicable to the concentration of aqueous solutions. A three-dimensional mathematical model was developed which considers transport phenomena including mass, heat, and momentum transfer in membrane evaporation process. The equations of model were then solved numerically using finite element method. The results of simulation in terms of evaporation flux were compared with experimental data, and confirmed the accuracy of model. Moreover, profile of pressure, concentration, and heat flux were obtained and analyzed. The results revealed that developed 3D model is capable of predicting performance of membrane evaporators in concentration of aqueous solutions.
Radionuclides such as Cs and Sr were removed from dilute aqueous solutions by means of inorganic adsorbents, 13X and chabazite. The physical adsorption obeyed the DA equation and non-equilibrium dynamic adsorption model, which describes surface diffusion mechanism with the DA equation, simulated the adsorption behavior of cesium and strontium on zeolite in fixed bed adsorbers. The dynamic model simulated the adsorption behavior of cesium and strontium.
Graphite powders were coated with ZrO₂ by the controlled hydrolysis of a DI water, ethanol and DI water+ethanol solutions. The hydrolysis process was carried out with temperature control because of the low wettability of Zr ions to the surface of the graphite. PVA was added to the solution for the enhancement of metal ion adsorption. The surface of the graphite powders coated with ZrO₂ was observed by SEM and TEM. There are two types of ZrO₂ particles with the condition of ZrOCl₂°§8H₂O aqueous solutions were used; (a) primary particles a few nm in size and (b) secondary particles with ∼0.1 ㎛ size were obtained. The graphite powders coated in 50% ethanol-50% DI water solution of Zr(SO₄)₂ㆍ4H₂O have the relatively uniform coating layer and the starting temperature of oxidation was 100℃ higher than the raw graphite.

In the present study Sisal fiber obtained from the leaves of Agave sisalana has been chosen to validate its viability as an adsorbent for the removal of Nickel from aqueous solutions. The material was also surface modified and its effect on adsorption of Nickel was also studied. Agave sisalana fiber was found to be a cheap and effective adsorbent doing away with the need to activate the material therby reducing processing cost. The equilibrium studies indicated that the adsorption capacity of raw fiber and the surface modified fiber was 8.66 and 9.77 mg/g respectively with the Langmuir isotherm describing the adsorption phenomena better than the Freundlich and Temkin isotherm. The adsorption was found to be exothermic from the thermodynamic studies and the kinetics showed that the adsorption phenomena were second order.
Electrochemical behaviors od chromium electrodeposition from 0.05M chromium (III) sulface complexes in aqueous solutions using sodium formate-glycine mixtures as a complexing agent were studied. In the cathodic current-potential cures, it is found that the intial limiting current of Cr(III) is proportional to square root of scan rate and activiation energy from Arrhenius plot is s obtained 3.05Kcal/mol. From this results, the reaction is considered, Cr3++e longrightarrow Cr2+, which is controlled diffusion of Cr (III). It is also found that the chromium is deposited when the potential reaches to hydrogen evolution potential. Effects of NaSCN as a catalyser in the electrolyte were investigated NCS- anion seems to react strongly by specific absorption at the inner HelmholtZ layer, so that, it is considered to suppress the electrodeposition reaction reaction for chromjum, and also it is considered multipe-bridge such as Cr(III)-NCS---M(M;cathode).
In this study, a comparative removal of chlorine from aqueous solutions of mulberry leaf powder(MLP) and activated carbon(AC) was investigated. The chlorine removal capacities of MLP and AC were shown as a function of contact time, pH and initial chlorine concentration. Optimum contact time and removal pH value of MLP were determined as 2 hr and pH 10, respectively. Chlorine removal increased with increasing initial chlorine concentration up to 1.3g/L. Both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were suitable for describing the short-term removal of chlorine by MLP and AC. According to Freundlich adsorption isotherms, the maximum removal capacity of MLP(0.264 mg Cl$_2$/mg) was nearly two times greater than that of AC(0.56 mg Cl$_2$/mg). These results suggested that MLP might potentially be used as an alternative to traditional water treatment materials for removal of residual chlorine in drinking water or process wastewater.
Measurements of proton adsorption density have been conducted in preparing alumina suspensions with aqueous solutions of HCL, HNO3, H2SO4 and H3PO4 And effects of anion acid concentration proton adsorption density and solid loading on the viscosity of the alumina suspensions have been investigated. Aqueous solutions of HCl. or HNO3 were suitable for the preparation of highly concentrated suspensions as the generation of surface charge on alumina particles was depressed by the specific adsorption of {{{{ {SO }`_{4 } ^{2- } }} and {{{{ { PO}`_{4 } ^{3- } }} Optimum conditions for maximizing solid loading were dependent upon proton adsorption density and acid concentration.
