  • This research examined a task to foster into the export industry, through analyzing the competitiveness of the ornamental fish industry and identifying the position of Korea's ornamental industry in the world. Ornamental fish in Korea holds the world's leading aquaculture technology, but products are limited to a few species, lacking competitive products. In the case of aquarium supplies, the Korean technology level is receiving relatively positive marks in the global market, but ornamental fish products are lagging behind the global trend. In other words, Korea's ornamental fish industry has the overall technical foundation, but lacks differentiation in the global market. Meanwhile, Korea's market share of world trade market in fishery products is minimal. Growth was also analyzed not high compared to other countries. Various trade competitiveness index results rated very low in competitiveness, but it is hard to compare Korea with other countries which have already built a strong foundation in the ornamental fish industry. Therefore, for the mid to long term Korea should adapt a "Choice and concentration" strategy and focus on the production of ornamental fish and aquarium supplies, which will enable Korea to become differentiated in the global market and capture the world exports.

  • Radix auricularia coreana, the intermediate host of Fasciola gigantica, is the most common pulmonate snail in Korea, This species is often found intermingled with Austropeplea ollula, the intermediate host of F. hepatica, in their natural habitats. In the present study. the life history of Radix auricularia coreana was examined under three different laboratory conditions. Egg-masses were taken from the field-collected adult R. auricularia coreana and incubated in the temperature ramges of 22-26$^{\circ}C$. The hatching began after 11 days from spawned eggs, and complete hatching took about 12 days. The hatching rate was about 88%. The juvenile snails were cultured at three different laboratory conditions. When the juvenile snails were cultured in the aquarium fed on lettuce leaves at 22-26$^{\circ}C$, the snails reached 20 mm in shell length at 86 days after hatching. The bottom of each aquarium was filled up with washed sand(1.5 cm) and decomposing ark shells were put on the sand. The aquarium was then filled with four litres of distilled water and continuously aerated. Most of snails (93%) survived until the experimenta period. The dggs are laid in 40 days after hatching; the averge number of eggs per egg-mass was 40.8.

  • The interaction between artificial fish and aquatic surroundings and the fish's realistic locomotion are very important elements to construct virtual aquariums. In general, the artificial fish in virtual aquariums used to be created by 3D modeling tools, and was repeatedly showing the simple and constant form of swimming. This paper will analyze the sorts of biological forms of fish-swimming and the propelling and turning characteristics. Then, we propose a method of the basic swimming and turning of artificial fish to generate various and natural-looking locomotion. It is possible to make a explorable virtual aquarium more immersive by using interactive interfaces together.

  • In this paper, we have researched about how to detect the fish robot objects in aquarium. We had used designed fish robots DOMI ver1.0, which had researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. The model of the robot fish is analysis to maximize the momentum of the robot fish and the body of the robot is designed through the analysis of the biological fish swimming. We are planned to non-external equipment to find the position and manipulated the position using creating boundary to fish robot to detect the fish robot objects. Also, we focused the detecting fish robot in aquarium by using boundary algorithm. In order to the find the object boundary, it is filtering the video frame to picture frames and changing the RGB to gray. Then, applied the boundary algorithm stand of equations which operates the boundary for objects. We called these procedures is kind of image processing that can distinguish the objects and background in the captured video frames. It was confirmed that excellent performance in the field test such as filtering image, object detecting and boundary algorithm.

  • This paper had implemented the underwater stage through interaction with fish robots and visitors in the background of traditional fairy tales using 3D floating hologram in an aquarium. The recognition of the object position of the spectator and the underwater robot were performed using the color recognition algorithm. Also, the position tracking algorithm was proposed to follow the object of the visitor and the original fairy tale. This experimental system consists of fish robot, camera, KIOSK for underwater robot control and beam project for underwater imaging. This experiment was carried out by the National Busan Science Museum, and it had satisfied the performance of the underwater stage.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a sanitary aquarium for the safety slices of raw fish by using U.V. light. Water re-circulating system was composed of two tanks. One of the tanks $(90\times45\times45cm\;in\;size),$ was used for rearing fish and the other $(90\times45\times45cm\;in\;size),$ with 37 pieces of corrugated plastic plates was used for the growth of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter to remove ammonia from the water. Consequently, bactericidal effects of U.V. light were examined under the controlled condition of water with flow rate 730m1/sec (water flow thickness: 10mm), the width 41cm of water flow route, and the distance 4.75cm from the lamp to its water bottom, and U.V. light 75W (5 lamps). The water of the aquarium tank will be theroetically circulated 1 cycle per 18 min. In these conditions the bactericidal effect was $85\%$ just after passing through U,V. light and 3 log cycle in aquarium tank water. The count of Vibrio parahaemolyticus just after irradiation was decreased by about over than 3 log cycle. Under the irradiation for 72 hours, viable cell counts in both skin and gill of fish reared were decreased into about 2 log cycle, but there was no significant decrease in viscera. When the temperature of the tank was controlled at about $20-23^{\circ}C$ under the same condition, viable cell counts were reduced about 2 log cycle, and fecal coliforms were reduced about 1 log rycle and 3 log cycle in Crassostrea gigas and Mytilus edulis, respectively.

  • The purpose of this paper is to calculate the excavation volume of unequal interval grid using nonlinear boundary in eathwork volume determination for reclamation of the foreshore. A congruence area formula by first and third equation is compared with trapezoidal, simpson formulas to earthwork volume. And nonlinear spot level method of unequal interval grid is compared with linear and nonlinear spot level method of equal interval grid excavation volume. As a result algorithm of derived area and volume formula should provide a better accuracy than linear and nonlinear spot level currently in use. Practical application of each method to the excavation volume is illustrated by digital elevation model of aerial photogrammetry and model test of aquarium.

  • To study the influence of background color and substratum on hypermelanosis of starry flounder, we compared the daily food intake (DFI), the feed efficiency (FE), the survival, the growth, the ratio of pigmented area on the blind side and the ratio of hypermelanic fish duplicately reared for 180 days in dark-green FRP aquarium (control), white FRP aquarium together with dark-green substratum. The ratio of pigmented area on the blind side was significantly higher at the dark-green group than at the white group. DFI, FE and growth were higher in the dark-green substratum. Pigmented area rate and ratio of hypermelanic fish were significantly higher at the dark green group than at the high dark-green substratum. The results suggest that bright tank color and substratum bottom could inhibit the hypermelanosis.

  • The occurrence and infection level of parasitic Copepod, Clavella adunca on the black rockfish, Sebastes melanops at the Hatfield Marine Science Center Aquarium were studied. C. adunca was usually found on the base of fins, preferably on the pectoral fins. Seven specimens of black rockfish, Sebastes melanops were collected from Oregon Coast Aquarium. Copepods of ten Clavella adunca were present as ectoparasites attached to the fins in the black rockfish. The prevalence and relative density of Clavella adunca were 28.6% and 1.4 respectively. It is considered that the tissue of the fin membrane offers the most favorable conditions toy the attachment of C. adunca.
