Objective & Methods : Experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of Juglandis Semen aqua-acupuncture and acupuncture($BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$) on the anti-allergic response. anaphylaxis provoked by the compound48/80, delayed type hypersensitivity response to picryl chloride and SRBC and inflammation response to egg albumin. Results : The following results have been obtained; 1. Juglandis Semen aqua-acupuncture and acupuncture($BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$) group were increased the survival rate in compound 48/80 induced systemic anaphylactic reaction. 2. Picryl chloride induced contact dermatitis and delayed type hypersensitivity in SRBC challenged mouse were significantly decreased in Juglandis Semen aqua-acupuncture and acupuncture($BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$) group. 3. Inflammation response-WBC, CRP and Nitric Oxide in egg albumin induced allergic rat were significantly decreased in Juglandis Semen aqua-acupuncture and acupuncture($BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$) group. Conclusions : According to the above results, Semen aqua-acupuncture and acupuncture($BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$) both depress the allergy reaction.

The study was performed to investigate the effect of Houttuyniae herba Aqua- acupuncture on immune responses in irradiated rats. The results are as follows; 1. In the assay of peripheral lymphocytes, Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture showed protective effect on peripheral lymphocytes from irradiation. 2. In the assay of $CD_4\;&\;CD_8$ T lymphocytes, Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture showed pretective effect on $CD_4\;and\;CD_8$ T lymphocytes from irradiation with no stastistical significance. 3. In the assay of spleen lymphocytes, Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture showed pretective effect on lymphocytes from irradiation with stastistical significance. 4. In the assay of spleen $CD_4$ T lymphocytes, Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture showed pretective effect on $CD_4$ T lymphocytes from irradiatian with stastistical significance. 5. In the study of $CD_8$ T lymphocytes, Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture showed pretective effect on $CD_4$ T lymphocytes from irradiation with no stastistical significance These results show that Houttuyniae herba aqua-acupuncture is an effective therapy upon immune deficiency induced by irradiation.

Objective : This study was performed to investigate the effects of aqua-acupuncture of Jibaikjihwangtang in two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats and spontaneously hypertensive rats. Methods : we injected aqua-acupuncture solution into Shin-Soo ($BL_{23}$) which corresponds to human acupuncture point in two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats and spontaneously hypertensive rats. Systolic blood pressure, renin activity, aldosterone and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) plasma levels were tested. Results : Systolic blood pressure decreased significantly after aqua-acupuncture of jibaikjihwangtang. Acupuncture group in two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hyper-tensive rats had deference with control group. In plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide, acupuncture group of spontaneously hypertensive rats increased meaningfully but to two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats it was decreased meaningfully. In Serum Aldosterone density, the acupuncture group of spontaneously hypertensive rats had significant alteration than control group, but the acupuncture group of two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats had decreased alteration than control group. Conclusion : According to these results, after Aqua-Acupuncture of Jibaikjihwangtang blood pressure decreased significantly and data suggest that blood pressure reduction activity connected with renin activity reduction in renal hypertensive rat.

This experiment was carried out to study on the acute toxicity of Thesium Chinese Turczaninow solution for aqua-acupuncture. Test material was manufactured by 'Water Alcohol method'. Mice and rats were used for this test. According to this experimental results, there were not observed any acute toxicity with Thesium Chinese Turczaninow solution for aqua-acupuncture. So Thesium Chinese Turczaninow solition for aqua-acupuncture is considered a have level of cliniccal safety. It is expected to be clinically helpful, and it is considered that continuous study is necessary.

This study was performed to elucidate the effect of acupuncture and aqua-acupuncture in dogs. Each group was divided into control (18 dogs), PC-6 (6 dogs) and BL-21 (6 dogs) group for the antiemetic effect of acupuncture, respectively. And, the animals were divided into control (18 dogs), PC-6 (18 dogs) and BL-21 (18 dogs) group for the antiemetic effect of aqua-acupuncture with metoclopramide, respectively. 2% xylazine was injected to the all dogs to induce the emesis, and acupuncture and aqua-acupuncture treatment (0.5% metoclopramide) were applied to animals for 20 min. before xylazine injection, respectively. Emetic rates in PC-6 (33.3%) and BL-21 (16.7%) were lower than that of control group (44.4%) in acupuncture groups, respectively. Emetic rates in PC-6 (16.7%) and BL-21 (0.0%) were lower than that of control group (38.9%) in aqua-acupuncture groups, respectively. Based on these findings, it was considered that the antiemetic effects of acupuncture and aqua-puncture at BL-21 were more effective than those of PC-6 groups, and aqua-acupuncture with metoclopramide at BL-21 was the most effective among them.

Objective : Recently scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture has been a good effect on pain control but it has not been known about clinical safety. The purpose of this study was to investigate acute toxicity of scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture. Method : In order to prove the clinical safety of scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture, We have observed a bacteriological examination and clinical pathology test after scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture treatment. Balb/c mice were injected intravenous with Scolopendrid aquaacupuncture treatment for $LD_{50}$ and acute toxicity test. We analyzed physical reaction(side effect)and clinical pathology test before and after Scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture treatment of mice and 20 patients suffering from pain, who admitted department of Acupunture and Moxibustion, College of Oriental Medicine, Won-Kwang University Kwangju hospital. Results : In the Blood agar plate and Nutrient agar plate, a bacteriological examination did not show a bacillus. In acute $LD_{50}$ toxicity test, there was no mortality thus unable to attain the value. Examining the toxic response in the acute toxicity test, there was no sign of toxication. In acute toxic test, running biochemical serum test couldn't yield any differences between the control and experiment groups. In the 20 patients treated with Scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture, hematologic test did not show remarkable change. In the 20 patients treated with Scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture, Liver function test(AST, ALT, ALP) showed a slight decrease on the contrary, and abnormal rate showed a decrease of 5.0% compared with previous study. Reanl function test(BUN, Cr) and abnormal rate showed a decrease of 5.0% compared with previous study. In the 20 patients treated with Scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture, Electrolyte were normal range before and after treatment. In the Urine analysis of 20 patients, Leukocyte, Protein, Glucose, Keton, Bilirubin, U-bilinogen were not detected before and after Scolopendrid aqua-acupuncture treatment, and the rest almost made no difference.

Introduction : In this study, the analgesic effect and its mechanism of bee venom aqua-acupuncture on complete Freund's adjuvant-induced arthritis in rats was investigated. It has been reported from a neurochemical standpoint that bee venom exerts antinociceptive effects on inflammation and that the opioid system and adrenergic system play important roles in acupuncture analgesia. however, it is not known whether central opioid and ${\alpha}2$-adrenergic components of the intrinsic descending analgesic system are activated after bee venom aqua-acupuncture. Methods : Bee venom(1mg/kg) was subcutaneously aqua-acupunctured into Joksamni($ST_{36}$) of rats with complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA)- induced arthritis and was checked of increase in TFL. Opioid and ${\alpha}_2$-adrenergic neurotransmitter system were examined by naloxone as an opioid receptor antagonist, and yohimbine as ${\alpha}_2$-adrenoceptor antagonist prior to bee venom aqua-acupuncture. Results : The following results have been obtained. 1. The tail flick latency in the rat model with adjuvant-induced arthritis was significantly decreased in 2 weeks. 2. The tail flick latency in the rat model with adjuvant-induced arthritis was increased in bee venom aqua-acupuncture group compared to the normal saline aqua-acupuncture group. 3. Analgesic effect of bee venom was antagonized by yohimbine not by naloxone pretreatment in the rat model adjuvant-induced arthritis. Conclusions : Bee venom aqua-acupuncture has an analgesic effect on the rat model of adjuvant-induced of adjuvant-induced arthritis and has antinociception mediated by ${\alpha}_2$-adrenergic system.

Objective : Psoriasis is a common skin disease and the difficulty of its medical management is well known. This study was designed to investigate the effect of bee venom aqua-acupuncture on psoriasis. Methods : Bee venom aqua-acupuncture was performed two times a week. The following points were selected: LI-11(曲池), LI-15, K-9(築賓) on both sides of body. For herbal medicine, YanHyulJiHwangTang-gami was given. We checked involvement in plaque, erythematous popules and invasiveness according to psoriasis area severity index(PASI). Results :After 9 weeks of treatment, the patient showed that itching symptoms was disappeared and score of PASI changed from 26.2 to 0. Conclusions : These results suggest that bee venom aqua-acupuncture and herbal medicine has good effect on psoriasis. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of bee venom aqua-acupuncture for treating psoriasis.

Objective: This study was perfomled to examine the therapeutic effect of aqua-acupuncture solution of Hominis Placenta(HP) on kidney and liver intoxicated by $HgCI_2$ in rats. Methods: $10\%$ and $25\%$ HP aqua-acupuncture were carried out everyday for 8 days on corresponding bilateral loci of Shinsu(BL23) and Kansu(BL18), respectively, after mercuric chloride intoxication in rats. Thereafter BUN, creatinine, GOT, GPT, ALP, ${\gamma}$-GT, albumin and total bilirubin were measured before intoxication, and at the 4th and the 8th experimental day. Histopathological and immunochemical observation were also carried out. Results: 1. It showed significant decreases of BUN in the group of $10\%$ HP aqua-acupuncture into Shinsu on the 4th experimental day as compared with the control group. 2. It showed significant decreases of creatinine in the group of $10\%$ HP aqua-acupuncture into Shinsu on the 4th and the 8th experimental days as compared with the control group. 3. There were not any significant changes of GOT, GPT, ALP,${\gamma}$-GT, albumin and total bilirubin in the HP aqua-acupuncture groups compared with the control group. 4. By the histopathological observations on kidney under a light microscope, alt the $10\%$ and $25\%$ HP aqua-acupuncture into Shinsu showed the preventive effect on tubulo-interstitial necrosis and muItifocal calcification in tubular lumen respectively compared with the control group. 5. By the histopathological observations on liver under a light mIcroscope, the groups $10\%$ and $25\%$ HP aqua--acupuncture into Kansu did not show any significant changes in the liver compared with the control group. 6. By the immunochemical analysis of heat shock protein(hsp) and glucose-regulated protein(grp) in rat renal cortex, the expressions of hsp70 and grp78 were decreased in the $10\%$ and $25\%$ HP aqua-acupuncture into Shinsu respectively compared with the control group. Conclusion: These results suggest that Hominis Placenta aqua-acupuncture have an effect on prevention and protection of renal intoxication by $HgCI_2$ in rats.

Objective : Experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of Herba Patriniae(HP) aqua-acupuncture ($BL_{13},\;BL_{17},\;BL_{13}{\cdot}BL_{17}$ and free points) on the anti-allergic inflammatory response. Methods : We measured active systemic anaphylatic shock induced by compound 48/80 and microvascular permeability increased by acetic acid. And we measured total IgE and plasma WBC level, serum total protein, albumin, immunoglobulin and NO levels induced by egg albumin. Results : HP aqua-acupuncture pretreatments at all acupoints inhibited active systemic anaphylatic shock induced by compound 48/80 and microvascular permeability increased by acetic acid. Total IgE and plasma WBC level inhibited by HP aqua-acupuncture pretreatment at $BL_{13}\;BL_{17}$ and free points. However, HP aqua-acupuncture didn't effect serum total protein, albumin, immunoglobulin and NO levels. Conclusion : These results suggest that HP aqua-acupuncture may be beneficial in the regulation of type Ⅰ allergic reaction, but is further required immunological studies on the allergic reaction.
