  • This paper deals with the early history of the British civil engineers as a group in terms of where they originated from, how they emerged as a profession in the British society during the First Industrial Revolution, and when they began to be educated at the formal higher education institution. Eventually this paper intends to seek for something like a British style of civil engineering.

Precarity and Hope in Digital Labor: In-depth Interviews on the Off-campus Internship Experiences of College Students (디지털 노동의 불안과 희망: 대학생의 '대외활동'에 대한 심층 인터뷰)

  • In the era of neoliberalism with high rate of youth unemployment, young college students are forced to believe that the only way to enter the job market is by accepting and participating temporary off-campus apprenticeship, which often disguised as an internship for the creative culture and knowledge. This article discusses that the mode of off-campus apprenticeship, which is supposed to voluntary and participatory, bears in fact a strong resemblance with digital labor. Based on a series of in-depth interviews with college students, this study argues that the apprentice-typed labor denotes a process by which immaterial labor or free labor coincides with self-directed job training. Throughout the digital labor processes young college students are in a constant oscillation between precarity and hope, negotiating their autonomy and social conditions in the neoliberal work environment. The digital labor accumulates students' knowledge and information as a form of commodity, which in turn supports communicative capitalism.

A Study for Development Scheme of National Qualification Korea: About the Apprenticeship Qualifications System and In-Firm Qualifications System (국가자격 법령 및 운영 개선방안에 관한 연구: 일학습병행자격제도와 사업내자격제도를 중심으로)

  • In South Korea, the history of the qualifications has been matured with industry development. Since National Technical Qualifications Act was enacted in 1973, the government makes an effort to develop the ability for improving socioeconomic status and the contribution of qualifications to industry. As the industry has been diversified and globalized, the government has efficiently and systematically operating the qualification by enacting Framework Act on Qualifications in 1997. And then, the qualifications are classified into national qualifications, private qualifications, and foreign qualifications. However, it is hard for national qualifications to abolish or establish a qualification by each organization and the privileged license acquisitors as the qualifications are separately operated by the laws and the organizations and lack consistency. For private qualifications, it is harder to organize even by the government because of the entry barriers by each qualification association. For those reasons, it is necessary to organize the system adapted in the changing job market and operated by the organization managing the qualification system with consistency. This research indicates the inefficiency of the qualification system because the work-study parallelism National qualification system, enacted in 2020, is like the qualification system in business in terms of the general operating system and the operator, except the institute and the law related. Therefore, we analyze the work-study parallelism National qualification system and the qualification system in business and suggest the efficient method to operate and the future research plan regarding the whole qualification system.

A Case Study of Developed Countries' Vocational Education Training Practices against COVID-19 (직업교육훈련 선도국의 Post COVID-19 대응방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to derive implications for establishing vocational training education policies in Korea by investigating COVID-19 countermeasures in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Singapore, which are representative vocational education training countries. The implications derived from the survey of leading countries in vocational education training are as follows. First, in order to respond to COVID-19, face-to-face vocational education training was quickly converted to online education. Second, the system was strengthened to overcome the crisis of the apprenticeship system, especially the British and Australian governments established a special budget for the apprenticeship system. Third, due to COVID-19, blended learning has become a new standard education model, accelerating the digitalization of vocational education training. Finally, leading countries in vocational education training are promoting the development of the edutech industry to support online education. This provides important implications for the direction of change in vocational education training in South Korea.

Faith Formation Through Guided Participation in Practice (신앙형성과 원칙에 따르는 실천의 참여)

  • In this study I want to explore faith formation through the framework of practice. First, I will describe discipleship as a lifelong process of identity formation, defining Christian religious education as a faith community's intentional work of equipping people to walk in the way of Jesus through apprenticeship in faith practices. I will argue that this process is more about the teaching of practices and engaging in theological reflection on practices than it is about dispensing correct information. This idea is not original with me, but has been expounded by many others particularly in the past decade in the U.S., as part of a larger movement within theological discourse emphasizing the centrality of practice. Second, I will describe some resources from educational theorists that can help us to understand what it means to educate through practices toward an identity as Christians. And finally, I will suggest that in our complex, broken and wounded world, as Christian religious educators we especially have a calling to equip disciples in two urgent faith practices: earth-care, and dealing with conflict.

  • Performance analysis for work-learning dual system has been mainly conducted from the perspective of diagnosing the effectiveness of policies at the macro level. This study aims to analyze issues in organizational management of the work-learning dual system training center by conducting an analysis focusing on the organizational performance of the work-learning dual system training center's employees. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the perception and attitude of employees toward the work-learning dual training center differed depending on the type of work-learning dual system and the type of employment contract. Among the types of work-learning dual system, overall, in the case of IPP, the organizational performance of employees was low, while the apprenticeship was relatively high. As for the type of employment contract, the need for institutional improvement has been derived, especially for the project contract workers.

  • The purpose of this article is to propose an alternative viewpoint on medical education, known as the Erudition paradigm. This study aims to confirm the essence of erudition rather than teaching and learning through discussing the foundations of self-directed learning principles in medical education. By reactivating the meaning of self-directed learning, this study debates the proprieties of the erudition paradigm beyond pedagogy; that is to say, the school-oriented educational paradigm. After all, this study reveals that all humans are Homo Eruditio, born with an erudite instinct, and it is necessary to inspire his/her encouragement in erudition by using self-directed learning.

  • Distance teacher training is on the increase raplidly because of its merit. But distance teacher training's weak points with its quantitative increasement has been proposed. Especially many study said commonly that distance tearcher training has weak points for contents, teaching method, evaluation method. So in this study, we will develop the teaching method of distance teacher training to solve weak points of distance teacher training with microteaching, cognitive apprenticeship model, teacher evaluation method. We think this teaching method will improve a teacher's teaching ability.

  • 현재 교사를 위한 다양한 인격 연수가 시행되고 있다. 그러나 연수 내용을 살펴보면 교사 연수의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 교수법 향상에 관련된 내용보다는 교과의 전문지식이나 기능적인 부분에 대해 더 많이 다루고 있는 것이 사실이다. 교사들은 대학에서 뿐만 아니라 교육 현장에서 자기 연수 혹은 연수 기관을 통해 끊임없이 교수법 향상을 위해 노력해야한다 연수 기관에서 그룹별 토의 시스템, 동영상 동기화 교수-학습 지도안 제작 도구, 교수학습 DB 등으로 구성된 인지적 도제 모델형 원격 연수 시스템을 이용한다면 좀 더 나은 교수법 향상을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 국가중요무형문화재 제92호 '강선영류 태평무' 교육을 체계적으로 보완하여 보편적 학습설계를 위한 구성주의 관점의 인지적 도제 학습의 적용가능성을 모색하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 전통무용 교육전문가 10명을 선정하여 개방형 설문과 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 실시를 통해 의견을 수렴하였으며, 순환적 과정을 통해 모형 개발을 실행하고 형성적 순환에 중점을 두는 설계기반연구(DBR)를 수행하였다. 그 결과 전통적 도제에서의 교육적 한계점을 밝히고, 도제 원리의 특수성을 검토하여 구성주의 관점의 인지적 도제학습 관점에 기초한 한국 전통무용의 보편적 학습설계를 새롭게 개발하였다.
