  • TCP typically offers reasonable end-to-end performance to users regardless of the bandwidth and error characteristics of particular network technology, The robustness of TCP has contributed to its success in the internet environment. The role of communications is already well established in the office environment. With the advent of cheap, affordable broadband communications and the increasing complexity of consumer goods, it seems natural to extend the network into homes. In-home networking means a high-speed communication among the digital appliances within a home. Introduction of application over high-speed home network using TCP/IP protocol is increasing. The integrated environment of internet and home network is demanding as well. We have validated TCP model over high speed home network environment, investigated the throughput behavior of TCP over IEEE 1399 home networks, and evaluated a potential solution for high performance of TCP over IEEE 139t home networks. The simulation model has produced several interesting results in the performance of TCP over IEEE 1394 home network.

  • Recently researches of P2P media streaming have been actively published, but the research what kind of P2P overlay networks are better to delivering media data has not been attended. This paper designs a P2P streaming media system model. In this system, we constructs a Half-Structure P2P overlay protocol based on node's capability as the infrastructure of streaming application, which utilizes the heterogeneity of the nodes to maintain topology, presents a active contents diffusing algorithm and Two-stage search algorithm, make it possible for nodes in P2P system to collect information according their capacity and reduces the number of forwarding packet compared with flooding. Also, we give an optimal scheme to scheduling media data.

  • Close collaboration among businesses is required in B2B EC environment. Furthermore, emergency requests or critical information among businesses should be processed in an immediate mode. Most current systems, however, due to firewalls for the systems' security and autonomy, can not handle these requirements appropriately, but handle them in an ad hoc manner In this paper a method of timely collaboration among businesses and an active functionality component to support it in B2B EC environment are proposed. Since the active functionality component supports high level ECA rule patterns and event-based immediate processing, system administrators and programmers can easily program and maintain the timely collaboration independently to the application logic. The proposed active functionality component uses HTTP protocol to be applied through firewalls and is designed using a commercial DBMS for practical purpose.

  • In this paper, a VoIP (Voice on Internet Protocol) terminal system, which can process voice in real time based on Linux, is designed and implemented. The hardware of it is designed using a i486 processor and a DSP codec chip which encodes and decodes voice data in real time. As an operating system, RTLinux, which is a real-time operating system based on Linux, is ported to manage real-time voice processing. The voice processing module of the system uses G.723.1 voice codec of ITU-T standard. It transfers voice data within 30ms to assure good voice quality. In order to satisfy the real time requirements and QoS (Quality-of-Service) for the voice data, the real-time voice processing device driver is designed and implemented. To verify the system, the chatting application program is developed and tested for QoS of the system.

  • In the United States (U.S.), the monitored natural attenuation (MNA) approach has been used as an alternative remedial option for organic and inorganic compounds retained in soil and dissolved in groundwater. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines the MNA as“in-situ naturally-occurring processes include biodegradation, diffusion, dilution, sorption, volatilization, and/or chemical and biochemical stabilization of contaminants and reduce contaminant toxicity, mobility or volume to the levels that are protective of human health and the environment”. The Department of Soil Environment. National Institute Environmental Research (NIER) is in the process for demonstrating the MNA approach as a potential remedial option for the BTEX contaminated site in Uiwang City. The project is charactering the research site in terms of the nature and extend of contamination, biological degradation rate, and geochemical and hydrological properties. The microbial-degradation rate and effectiveness of nutrient and redox supplements will be determined through laboratory batch and column tests. The geochemical process will be monitored for determining the concentration changes of chemical species involved in the electron transfer processes that include methanogenesis, sulfate and iron reduction, denitrification, and aerobic respiration. Through field works, critical soil and hydrogeologic parameters will be acquired to simulate the effects of dispersion, advection, sorption, and biodegradation on the fate and transport of the dissolved-phase BTEX plume using Bioplume III model. The objectives of this multi-years research project are (1) to evaluate the MNA approach using the BTEX contaminated site in Uiwang City, (2) to establish a standard protocol for future application of the approach, (3) to investigate applicability of the passive approach as a secondary treatment remedy after active treatments. In this presentation, the overall picture and philosophy behind the MNA approach will be reviewed. Detailed discussions of the site characterization/monitoring plans and risk-based decision-making processes for the demonstration site will be included.

  • One of micropropagation methods was investigated by using a multiple-shoots protocol. Multiple shoot formation was obtained from excised axillary buds of Hypericum erectum on half-strength or basal MS medium supplemented with TDZ or BA. The optimal combination of shoot multiplication for the production of more shoots with a suitable size was MS medium supplemented with $0.005\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ TDZ (6.5 adventitious shoots per node). In vitro rooting was carried on half-strength MS medium with $1\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;GA_3\;and\;0.5\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ IBA treatment. In addition, the rooted cuttings were showed a better root growth in the greenhouse and survived in more than 90%. The results show that the species can be micropropagated effectively by the application of axillary bud culture systems.

  • Todays enterprise networks are composed of multiple types of interconnected networks.Enterprise Networks interoperability between these technologies is needed. To enable interworking, it is necessary to be able to map between the relevant object models and to build on this to provide a mechanism to handle protocol conversion on the domain boundaries. In this paper, we describe a gateway between management application in the CORBA domain and agent in the SNMP domain and various integration methods. The main function of the gateway is to dynamically convert the method invocations on object reference in CORBA domain to SNMP messages for MIB entries at remote agents, We also present translation methods from SNMP MIB to CORBA IDL using Direct translation and Abstract translation. JIDM algorithm has no notion of containment and inheritance relationships between object classes and is difficult to understanding between management attribute and SNMP Action attribute. Abstract translation over come these problems.New superclasses define for common attributes and define explicit CORBA method for SNMP Action. It is a methodology for obtaining the CORBA-compliant management agents from already existing SNMP agents.

  • It has been estimated that 'RFID' technology would be playing an important role in the incoming ubiquitous environment. For this reason, many studies on 'RFID' have been conducted and its application has been on the increase in various fields such as finance, medicine, transportation and culture as well as in logistics distribution. However, the communication between Tag and Reader in RFID system has been conducted by wireless communication of radio frequency so that the information on identification could be eavesdropped by the third party maliciously. Such eavesdropped information could be also used as basic information in attacking others; in this regard, it could impair the privacy of its users and the users have avoided using 'RFID.' To solve theses problems, many studies are being performed to different output of tags by renewing ID. However, protocols have been devised without considering an ID Synchronization in the ID renewal process between database and tag in the existing studies. In this regard, this study has suggested a RFID Authentication Protocol while considering the ID Synchronization.

  • With significant development in wireless communication technologies, the needs to handover from one network to another have grown dramatically. Recently IETF developed MIPv6 and FMIPv6 which are used to handover between different access networks. These handover mechanisms have some known weaknesses. MIPv6 can not serve time-critical application because it causes long handover latency and packet loss. By these reasons, MIPv6 does not guarantee session continuity. FMIPv6 uses handover preparation phase to reduce DAD latency. However FMIPv66 still suffers from long handover latency, because it must perform binding update at the end of handover procedure. In this paper we propose new handover mechanism FMIPv6-PBU which eliminates binding update latency. The proposed mechanism has compatability with lagacy FMIPv6. In this paper propose FMIPv6-PBU handover procedure and explain its procedures and evaluate it with MIPv6 and FMIPv6.
