  • 2005년 12월 1일 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) 본 방송이 실시된 이후 다양한 형태의 방송, 통신 융합 서비스가 시도되었다. 그러나 DMB가 성공적으로 시장에 정착하였음에도 불구하고 방송사 등 시장 참여자들의 수익 창출의 어려움, 속도 및 요금 측면에서의 양방향 망의 한계, 방송사, 통신사의 시스템 및 망에 종속적이며 폐쇄적인 콘텐츠 제작 및 제공 방식 등으로 인하여 성공을 거두지 못하였다. 그러나 스마트 폰과 같은 모바일 스마트 디바이스의 성공으로 방송, 통신 서비스 시장에 새로운 전기가 마련되어 다양한 융합 서비스가 시도될 것으로 예상되며, 지상파 DMB가 이러한 다양한 서비스와의 경쟁에서 우위를 점하고 중심 매체로 자리잡기 위해서는 새로운 개념의 융합 서비스 플랫폼이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 이러한 새로운 개념의 플랫폼인 'HTML5 기반 융합 모바일방송 플랫폼'을 제안하고 실제 구현 예를 통하여 그 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 누구나 콘텐츠 제공에 참여할 수 있고, 다양한 망, 단말, 서비스 모델이 융합되며, 표준화되고 개방된 API(Application Programming Interface)를 통하여 이를 소비할 수 있도록 하는 개념으로, 방송 콘텐츠 및 이에 의해 파생된 다양한 리치 미디어 콘텐츠의 생성, 전달, 소비에 이르는 생태계 전반에 대한 것이다. 이러한 플랫폼의 가능성을 제시하기 위하여 KBS(Korean Broadcasting System)는 서비스 시스템, 수신 프로그램 개발, 시험 서비스 구현 등의 개발을 진행하고 있으며, 그 결과를 본 논문에서 소개하고자 한다.

Development of a Solid Fuel Design Automation Program Using Configuration Design Method (편집 설계 방법을 이용한 고체 추진제 형상 설계 자동화 프로그램 개발)

  • We developed a design automation system to reduce the lead time and help engineers in designing a solid fuel, or a grain, for rocket missiles. First, we analyzed design activities and shapes of a grain, which resulted in the standard of design process and shape. We decided development process which consisted of two typical activities such as constructing master library and implementing design system. We constructed some master models for typical external shapes and core shapes of grains which were used in modeling the shape of a designing grain. Also we implemented a design automation program to use the master models according to the pre-defined design process. It can calculate some design parameters such as mass, mass center, volume and combustion area that are used in analyzing a proposed grain. Finally, we could reduce the design time dramatically and increase design quality by automating many routine and difficult works.

Development of CAE Service Platform Based on Cloud Computing Concept (클라우드 컴퓨팅기반 CAE서비스 플랫폼 개발)

  • Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) is very helpful field for every manufacturing industry including foundry. It covers CAD, CAM, and simulation technology also, and becomes as common sense in developing new products and processes. In South Korea, more than 600 foundries exist, and their average employee number is less than 40. Moreover, average age of them becomes higher. To break out these situations of foundry, software tools can be effective, and many commercial software tools had already been introduced. But their high costs and risks of investment act as difficulties in introducing the software tools to SMEs (Small and Medium size Enterprise). So we had developed cloud computing platform to propagate the CAE technologies to foundries. It includes HPC (High Performance Computing), platforms and software. So that users can try, enjoy, and utilize CAE software at cyber space without any investment. In addition, we also developed platform APIs (Application Programming Interface) to import not only our own CAE codes but also 3rd-party's packages to our cloud-computing platforms. As a result, CAE developers can upload their products on cloud platforms and distribute them through internet.

  • With the rapidly changing information communication environment and development of technologies, the informati on networks are evolved from traditional fixed form to an active variable network that flexible large variety of data can be transferred. To reflect the needs of users, the next generation using DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division M ultiplexing) transmission system and OXC (Optical Cross Connect) form a dynamic network. After that GMPLS (Ge neralized Multi-Protocol Label Switching) can be introduced to dynamically manage and control the Reconfigurable Optical Add-drop Multiplexer (ROADM)/Photonic Cross Connect (PXC) based network. This paper propose a softw are architecture of Path Computation Element (PCE) protocol that has proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to path computation. The functional blocks and Application Programming Interface (API) of the PCE protoco l implementation are also presented.

Automatic Extraction of Road Network using GDPA (Gradient Direction Profile Algorithm) for Transportation Geographic Analysis

  • Currently, high-resolution satellite imagery such as KOMPSAT and IKONOS has been tentatively utilized to various types of urban engineering problems such as transportation planning, site planning, and utility management. This approach aims at software development and followed applications of remotely sensed imagery to transportation geographic analysis. At first, GDPA (Gradient Direction Profile Algorithm) and main modules in it are overviewed, and newly implemented results under MS visual programming environment are presented with main user interface, input imagery processing, and internal processing steps. Using this software, road network are automatically generated. Furthermore, this road network is used to transportation geographic analysis such as gamma index and road pattern estimation. While, this result, being produced to do-facto format of ESRI-shapefile, is used to several types of road layers to urban/transportation planning problems. In this study, road network using KOMPSAT EOC imagery and IKONOS imagery are directly compared to multiple road layers with NGI digital map with geo-coordinates, as ground truth; furthermore, accuracy evaluation is also carried out through method of computation of commission and omission error at some target area. Conclusively, the results processed in this study is thought to be one of useful cases for further researches and local government application regarding transportation geographic analysis using remotely sensed data sets.

A study on characteristics of the scaled SONOSFET NVSM for Flash memory (플래시메모리를 위한 scaled SONOSFET NVSM 의 프로그래밍 조건과 특성에 관한 연구)

  • When charge-trap SONOS cells are used flash memory, the tunneling program/erase condition to minimize the generation of interface traps was investigated. SONOSFET NVSM cells were fabricated using 0.35$\mu\textrm{m}$ standard memory cell embedded logic process including the ONO cell process. based on retrograde twin-well, single-poly, single metal CMOS process. The thickness of ONO triple-dielectric for memory cell is tunnel oxide of 24${\AA}$, nitride of 74 ${\AA}$, blocking oxide of 25 ${\AA}$, respectively. The program mode(Vg: 7,8,9 V, Vs/Vd: -3 V, Vb: floating) and the erase mode(Vg: -4,-5,-6 V, Vs/Vd: floating, Vb: 3V) by modified Fowler-Nordheim(MFN) tunneling were used. The proposed programming condition for the flash memory of SONOSFET NVSM cells showed less degradation($\Delta$Vth, S, Gm) characteristics than channel MFN tunneling operation. Also the program inhibit conditions of unselected cell for separated source lines NOR-tyupe flash memory application were investigated. we demonstrated that the program disturb phenomenon did not occur at source/drain voltage of 1 V∼4 V and gate voltage of 0 V∼4.

  • This paper describes a simple real-time monitoring system for use in measurement subsystem of contact wire and geometry of overhead contact wire in electric railway. The system has been consists of a high speed CMOS camera with resolution $1024\;{\times}\;1280$ pixels, line type laser source with a power equal to 300 mW, and PC-based image acquisition system with PCI Express slot. National instrument LabVIEW (8.0) and vision acquisition software have been used in application programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling of 500 acquisitions per second.

  • WebRTC(Web Real-Time Communication)는 플러그인의 도움 없이 간단한 웹 표준 API(Application Programming Interface)를 이용하여 웹 브라우저 환경에서 Peer-to-Peer 실시간 통신을 가능케 하고자 하는 기술이다. 실시간 통신으로 오디오, 비디오 스트림은 물론이고 데이터 스트림을 포함한다. 해당 기술은 브라우저간에 직접적으로 Peer-to-Peer 세션을 형성하여 스트리밍을 수행하므로 중계 서버를 이용하는 통신에 비하여 향상된 네트위크 성능을 보이지만 연결을 구성하기 위한 보조 기술들이 요구된다. WebRTC 는 웹 기반 기술이기 때문에 기존의 웹 어플리케이션이 가지는 장단점을 공유한다. 본 논문에서는 WebRTC 기술과 해당 기술을 구성하고 있는 세부 기술들의 구조 및 기능을 분석한다. 또한 해당 기술을 이용하여 간단한 컨퍼런스 시스템을 설계하고 구현한 예제를 보인다.

Malaria Epidemic Prediction Model by Using Twitter Data and Precipitation Volume in Nigeria

  • Each year Malaria affects over 200 million people worldwide. Particularly, African continent is highly hit by this disease. According to many researches, this continent is ideal for Anopheles mosquitoes which transmit Malaria parasites to thrive. Rainfall volume is one of the major factor favoring the development of these Anopheles in the tropical Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA). However, the surveillance, monitoring and reporting of this epidemic is still poor and bureaucratic only. In our paper, we proposed a method to fast monitor and report Malaria instances by using Social Network Systems (SNS) and precipitation volume in Nigeria. We used Twitter search Application Programming Interface (API) to live-stream Twitter messages mentioning Malaria, preprocessed those Tweets and classified them into Malaria cases in Nigeria by using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification algorithm and compared those Malaria cases with average precipitation volume. The comparison yielded a correlation of 0.75 between Malaria cases recorded by using Twitter and average precipitations in Nigeria. To ensure the certainty of our classification algorithm, we used an oversampling technique and eliminated the imbalance in our training Tweets.

A Close Contact Tracing Method Based on Bluetooth Signals Applicable to Ship Environments

  • There are still outbreaks of COVID-19 across the world. Ships increase the risk of worldwide transmission of the virus. Close contact tracing remains as an effective method of reducing the risk of virus transmission. Therefore, close contact tracing in ship environments becomes a research topic. Exposure Notifications API (Application Programming Interface) can be used to determine the encountered location points of close contacts on ships. Location points of close contact are estimated by the encountered location points. Risky areas in ships can be calculated based on the encountered location points. The tracking of close contacts is possible with Bluetooth technology without the Internet. The Bluetooth signal can be used to judge the proximity among detecting devices by using the feature that Bluetooth has a strong signal at close range. This Bluetooth feature makes it possible to trace close contacts in ship environments. In this paper, we propose a method for close contact tracing and showing the risky area in a ship environment by combining beacon and Exposure Notification API using Bluetooth technology. This method does not require an Internet connection for tracing close contacts and can protect the personal information of close contacts.
