Integrating OpenSees with other software - with application to coupling problems in civil engineering

  • Integration of finite element analysis (FEA) software into various software platforms is commonly used in coupling systems such as systems involving structural control, fluid-structure, wind-structure, soil-structure interactions and substructure method in which FEA is used for simulating the structural responses. Integrating an FEA program into various other software platforms in an efficient and simple way is crucial for the development and performance of the entire coupling system. The lack of simplicity of the existing integration methods makes this integration difficult and therefore entails the motivation of this study. In this paper, a novel practical technique, namely CS technique, is presented for integrating a general FEA software framework OpenSees into other software platforms, e.g., Matlab-$Simulink^{(R)}$ and a soil-structure interaction (SSI) system. The advantage of this integration technique is that it is efficient and relatively easy to implement. Instead of OpenSees, a cheap client handling TCL is integrated into the other software. The integration is achieved by extending the concept of internet based client-server concept, taking advantage of the parameterization framework of OpenSees, and using a command-driven scripting language called tool command language (TCL) on which the OpenSees' interface is based. There is no need for any programming inside OpenSees. The presented CS technique proves as an excellent solution for the coupling problems mentioned above (for both linear and nonlinear problems). Application examples are provided to validate the integration method and illustrate the various uses of the method in the civil engineering.

  • Component-based software development [CBSD] is a new paradigm of recent software development. CBSD was started from reuse of software and study on software component technique. In order to improve produce and quality of software development, there is study on reuse of components lively and how to develop, share, and manage components effectively. In this study, I would like to suggest a method that is able to simply test a new application system by developing systems developed individually into components, registering them, and combining them.

  • 최근에 개발되고 있는 소프트웨어들은 규모가 거대해지고 기능도 복잡 해지고 있다. 이처럼 복잡한 시스템의 개발을 위해 장기간에 걸쳐 서로 다른 전문가들의 협력 작업과 개발팀 구성원간에 정보 공유, 상호의존적 업무수행, 공동의 산출물 생성들의 작업을 지원하는 CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Works)개념을 소프트웨어 개발 방법에 통합하는 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 개발에 있어서의 공동 작업 특성과 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에 의한 공동작업을 지원하여 생산성을 향상 시키는 CSCW개념을 적용하여 정보통신 소프트웨어 개발을 지원하는 하부 구조로서 다자간 공동작업 플랫폼인 SPACE(Software Platform for distributed Application sharing under Cooperative Environment)를 설계하였다. SPACE는 Windows 95 환경 하에서 완전 분산 구조를 가지고 있으며, 개발 도구를 공유하게 하는 공유기법으로 중앙 집중형 구조를 갖는 GUI 공유 방식과 복제 구조를 지원하기 위하여 이벤트 공유방식을 사용하고 있다.

  • One of the biggest challenges that the software industry is facing today is to create highly efficient applications without affecting the quality of healthcare system software. The demand for the provision of software with high quality protection has seen a rapid increase in the software business market. Moreover, it is worthless to offer extremely user-friendly software applications with no ideal security. Therefore a need to find optimal solutions and bridge the difference between accessibility and protection by offering accessible software services for defense has become an imminent prerequisite. Several research endeavours on usable security assessments have been performed to fill the gap between functionality and security. In this context, several Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approaches have been implemented on different usability and security attributes so as to assess the usable-security of software systems. However, only a few specific studies are based on using the integrated approach of fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) technique for assessing the significant usable-security of hospital management software. Therefore, in this research study, the authors have employed an integrated methodology of fuzzy logic, ANP and TOPSIS to estimate the usable - security of Hospital Management System Software. For the intended objective, the study has taken into account 5 usable-security factors at first tier and 16 sub-factors at second tier with 6 hospital management system softwares as alternative solutions. To measure the weights of parameters and their relation with each other, Fuzzy ANP is implemented. Thereafter, Fuzzy TOPSIS methodology was employed and the rating of alternatives was calculated on the foundation of the proximity to the positive ideal solution.

가상화 지원 시스템과 Copy-on-Write 방법을 이용한 응용프로그램 가상화 방법의 설계 및 구현 (A Design and Implementation of Application virtualization method using virtual supporting system and Copy-on-Write scheme)

  • 본 논문에서는 각각의 호스트 컴퓨터에 설치하여 사용하는 응용 프로그램 패키지를 설치 없이 임의의 호스트에서 원 클릭만으로 사용가능 하게 하는 비설치형 이동형 SW 포맷을 이용하여 임의의 호스트에서 호스트의 실행환경과 리소스에 대한 변경이나 수정 없이 독립적으로 응용 프로그램 수준의 가상화를 제공하는 방법에 대하여 소개한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 응용 프로그램 수준의 가상화를 구현하기 위하여 윈도우 기반 시스템에서 커널레벨의 가상 파일 시스템과 가상 레지스트리 하이브를 포함하는 가상화 지원 시스템을 구축한다. 또한, 임의의 호스트에서 사용자가 이동형 SW를 사용할 때, 이동형 SW 실행 환경의 일관성을 제공하기 위하여, 가상 파일 시스템 상에서의 추가 및 수정되는 파일들과 가상 레지스트리 하이브에서 추가 및 수정되는 레지스트리 정보를 Copy-on-Write 방식을 이용하여 처리하는 방법에 대하여 기술한다.

  • 스마트폰의 대중화와 더불어 웨어러블 디바이스, 가전제품, 스마트 TV에도 운영체제가 보급되고 있다. 사용자는 운영체제가 설치된 디바이스 상에서 다양한 애플리케이션을 사용할 수 있게 되었지만, 반면에 애플리케이션을 통한 해커의 위협도 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라, 운영체제 내 애플리케이션의 위변조를 탐지하기 위한 기술은 더욱 중요시되고 있으며, 애플리케이션의 위변조를 탐지하기 위한 기술 중 하나로, 전자서명 기술이 널리 사용돼 왔다. W3C의 규격에 따라 애플리케이션은 최소 2회 이상의 서명이 필요하며, 설치 시 각 구성요소에 대한 모든 서명 파일이 검증되어야 한다. 따라서 애플리케이션 전자서명 검증 시스템의 성능은 운영체제의 인스톨러 성능에 큰 비중을 차지한다. W3C 규격을 준수한 운영체제의 애플리케이션 전자서명 검증 시스템은 구성요소에 대한 무결성 검증 과정이 중복되기 때문에 성능 저하가 발생한다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 무결성 검증 과정 내 프락시 시스템을 도입하여 성능을 향상하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 연구는 기존 검증 시스템 대비 효율적으로 성능이 개선됨을 보여준다.

우량종계 육종을 위한 컴퓨터 소프트웨어 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of a Computer Software System for Improving Chick Breeder)

  • This study was carried out to develop a computer software system for poultry breeding by using microcomputer(PC). Through this study, SPPB(Statistical Package for Poultry Breeding) was designed and developed, which can help poultry breeder collect and analyse the chick records. A main feature of the system was the application of user-oriented procedure, for example, choice of the flock file, selection of the family size and the desired traits. Creation of the data files and the breeding files. calculation of the elementary statistics, estimation of the heritability and the genetic and phenotypic correlation coefficients can be obtained by user's choice of the sire and dam family size. Also, it is possible to estimate the various selection indices through this system. Easiness of using this system and the flexibility of the file management could help increasing the efficiency of related practical poultry breeding jobs. Correctness and relationships between the unit programs in the system were proved through the run-test of the SPPB using sample data. Because it wasn't able to collect breeding records at the commercial breeding farm, effectiveness of the system was not proved totally. Also. it will be necessary to develop the integrated software system which make possible to computerize the general works at breeding farm and the genetic analyses of the records from chick breeders.

  • In this paper, the on-going effort and progress for developing an integrated software for automated CFD application is described. As an outcome of the effort devoted so far, a new system, ICFDIT, is developed and introduced in this paper. The new system can be used to solve fluid dynamics problems in a convenient graphical environment, and it includes a pre-processor, a main-processor, and a post-processor. Usage of the system and examples are demonstrated, and some issues for improvement of the system are discussed.

Real-Time Safety Driving Assistance System Based on a Smartphone

  • In this paper, we propose a method which implements warning to drivers through real-time analysis of risky and unexpected driver and vehicle behavior using only a smartphone without using data from digital tachograph and vehicle internal sensors. We performed the evaluation of our system that demonstrates the effectiveness and usefulness of our method for risky and unexpected driver and vehicle behavior using three information such as vehicle speed, azimuth and GPS data which are acquired from a smartphone sensors. We confirmed the results and developed the smartphone application for validate and conducted simulation using actual driving data. This novel functionality of the smartphone application enhances drivers' situational awareness, increasing safety and effectiveness of driving.
